View Full Version : What Otrcai?
Hey I know this is a real n00b question, but, there are so many different OTR's out there.
So which one is the best in your opinion. I know they are all similar in what they do. I guess Im after which one is the toughest and gives the most Air.
Dave, Tigs and anyone else, Im putting up a "Poll" to easily see what people think. I appologise now :whip: :D
Let me know what you use and what you think.
Dont forget to vote in the poll.
Troy :D
I think in terms of performance there wouldnt be much in it; has anyone actually tested them for effictiveness/flow, and for all the various VT/VX/VY/VZ setups, probably not. Hard call, probably comes down to the look you prefer and/or the deal you can get.
Price is another consideration that I forgot to mention.
The GD one is on eBay for $400 and its aluminium, the others are plastic and far far more expensive.
PT is winning the POLL at the moment, I thought as much.

What? No SS Inductions jobbies on the poll?
As I said elsewhere, I am happy with my PT copy as price was a factor as well at the time. If I was to change it later, it would be because I stumbled across a genuine PT, or I had the funds for the new one Marranos is selling purely for the more factory look. Otherwise I'm quite happy to stick with my humble copy... :)
I found a couple

Ive had 4 different otr's on the ute at the track...my conclusion ,with the filter out theyr'e all the same.
For looks it think the Orssom wins hands down due to it's oem appearance... but the filter is a pain in the ass.

I've got a PT style copy, made of plastic, bought for a good price ($400 incl filter). As for looks, I really don't care too much.
Air flow & track performance of all the different OTR - I wouldn't think there would be much in it.

Dont no the real name,But i got one from import world in surfers,Not the best, needed to be pulled apart and sanded as to much loos fiberglass. It was to big at the neck for the VYSS To.and when on the throttle body properly it was to short to sit over the rediator properly.Tryed to find an extenstion connector hose to sort this out but the neck was to big for anything i could get my hands on.

Yea JB,Its very frostating when you start the hole process off aftermarket builds.so manny choices.:headbang: .I just made the mistake of getting the wrong bits, even after reseach.what im saying is take time, and get the best.Less dissapointments.and easy to sell on as you try differant mods.

Original PT otr works for me :D. My only real gripe was that the neck cracked :headbang: . Nothing that a rubber sleeve joiner couldn't fix, but when you're shelling out relatively good $$$ it sucks.

I plan to reinforce the PTC one with some fibre glass that I just "happen" to have laying around :lmao:
Might try and use it as a mold and have some itchy glass fun :yep:

The neck cracking is mostly due to the neck being tightened too much around the throttle body. The engine twisting and generally vibrating eventually cracks it. Keep it a little loose to allow movement and you should have no dramas. :D
