A few of us have families and find it hard to get away for a whole day on weekends

Sooooo here is an option for Sunday morning (be home for lunchtime)

Meeting points

8:00am Heathcote Maccas, then drive through National Park
9:00am Stop at Bald Hill, then drive through Coast Road to Thirroul / Bulli Pass / Picton
9:45am Two 15 minute karting sessions
We should be all done by 10:30 or 11am.

I've booked the track for six people & I think four spots are already spoken for. I can probably get more karts booked in but i need to know asap.

Everyone is welcome, however no stupid driving please on the way there (save that for the karts, i know i will)

Here's a chance for you dads to cash in your accumulated mothers day credits!

credits always negative

Sat night bbq for 2 hours for kids party, sunday bbq for her family cooking most of morning and washing up, 4 hours standing up.

then over to my parents for the arvo (bit of background here, she doesn't get on with her brothers wife and doesn't get asked over to his place much) from dads place can see her brothers place over the other side of the water, i had a look with binoculars oh you mum and dad and sister are over there i said. now i'm in trouble for telling her that.... can't win...

got to go to melb on sunday arvo 2 pm flight, otherwise i would come!!

Kyle i wouldnt worry too much, last time we went karting, there were 6 seconds a lap difference in some of them.. luck of the draw. And i mean, driver A gets out of kart A and into kart B, then runs six seconds faster! Luck of the draw with these karting places.

Dunc,

Can you tell us the cost of carting and if there is dress restrictions ie jean requires, enclosed footwear etc. It looks like I will be participating.

JB

Its $30 for a single 15 minute session, or $55 for two sessions (half hour).

We need min six people for these rates, which i think we now have :)

I think its best to do the two sessions, mix up the kart allocation a bit, just in case someone gets a dodgy one.

Just bring some enclosed shoes JB; they give you orange guantanamo-bay overalls to put over your clothes, and a helmet of course. You can bring your own helmet if you like.

Some track facts here:

Incorrect Kyle ... what you need is to make your kart wider than all the others :yep:

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: Due to my diff not wanting to be a functional part of my car anymore, I will not be able to attend...:puke:
I should have the car back from the panel shop late friday, Saturday is a full day for me, so I won't be able to get a new diff until Monday at the earliest. :(

I know these trips are great, so lets have another carting day/morning again in a couple of weeks.

Sounds fine to me mate.

In that case I'll bring Steph along too - don't think she's met you guys yet (she probably won't race, but I'll have two sessions :)).

Cheers,
- Febs.

PS: Got a mate's birthday the night before so if it ends up being a big one, I may end up leaving a bit later, taking the M5 and meeting you guys there. I know it's not in the spirit of cruising...but it depends on how big the Sat night is. :

Excellent ... Buffy won't be racing either so she will have someone to talk to. Can't wait until the kids are big enough to have a go, they'll love it.

That's a spinout Nick, my girlfriends nickname (thanks to my mates) was "Buffy" when we started going out as she was a deadset ringer for Sarah Michelle Gellar when we first started going out... (Hell, it was 6 years ago now, she's a little wider across the beam thesedays !! )

If i don't have a big one on Saturday night, which is unlikely but you never know - i might come down for a run at the karts too. Sharon will have to drive down there though !! :whip:

ok guys hope to see you at heathcote Maccas around 8am tomorrow, or Stanwell Tops around 8:45am, or Picton Karts around 9:45am!

I think we picked up another driver or two, including someone who kicked our arses last time - pucker up mick!

I think we have room for a few more so anyone who wants to turn up please do. You might want to bring enclosed shoes if you are karting.

NickS
19-05-2007, 07:32 PM
We'll be at Heathcote so make sure you don't leave without us ... I assume it will be a "cruise" and nothing too crazy, I'll have the kids in the car so I don't really want to be doing anything silly. If everyone is up for a fast as we can go sort of run let me know and I might just meet you at Picton.

I'll call you if there are any probs in the morning Dunc ... looking forward to it.

More than 1 full second quicker than than you, wasn't I Mick :stick: ??? And that wasn't trying ;). Who was pushing who up the back straight?? :waving: :D.

Was a top morning. Great way to kick-off a Sunday. Pretty good turnout too. Will have to organise these on a more regular basis. Perhaps Butterfly Farm next :up2sum: .

Febs
20-05-2007, 07:17 PM
A great morning - thanks for organising Duncan.

Oh and fwiw, I'm sure I was a good 5 seconds quicker during the 2nd session  (yeah, the one when the timing equipment stopped working ;)).

Cheers,
- Febs.

NickS

Same here Febs ... without a doubt. I had crappy Karts both times, I could never stay with anyone up the back straight ... :headbang: ... VERY frustrating.

Had a few fun tussles with Mick & Chris, bit of a nudge here and there, managed to keep it straight every time. It's funny, after spending a day in a 35hp 2 stroke Clubman it's a hell of a lot easier to catch these hire Karts before they turn around. Had a ball though, definitely needs to be a more regular occurrence, Butterfly Farm next time sounds like a goer.

One other thing, my back is killing me this morning, I can barely move ... ... anyone else feeling a little tenderised ???

:up2sum: I asked for a cushion/pillow... due to past karting experiences, where you are sore/bruised/can't move afterwards. Only got a bruise on inner left elbow this time round, so not too bad :D.

thanks to everyone who came along, it was great company. i like the early morning events too, get home around lunchtime and take the kids out for the arvo (give mum a little break) works out well.

anyone else feeling a little tenderised ???

Nick, let's just say it feels like i've been pounded like a veal cutletl. I am VERY sore and tender. GTS looks great btw, awesome car.

With the karting, as usual, a certain someone would apporach (rapidly) administer a couple of taps, then drive around me and take off (bastard!) you could tell he was grinning from ear to ear as he was doing it. I think a weight penalty is in order next time, or else i have to lose 20kg.

Thanks Dunc, had an absolute ball following you through the national park. I'm more convinced than ever that messing with the suspension on a new GTS is just about the worst thing you could ever do.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels a little done over ... where did I put that Nurofen Plus ???

anyone else feeling a little tenderised ???

I didn't feel too sore this morning, but ended up with a pretty big lump on my back (where my spine kept rubbing against the seat), and a bruise the size of 2 x 20c coins on my left side!

Worth it though. :up2sum:

you all know i kicked butt the second time and the first round with a kart that was 5seconds slower i was only one second behind. lets do it again any place any time if you arnt scared.

Damn Mick, your kart was 5 seconds a lap faster in the second session??!!

you lucky bugger (wish mine was)

with a 5 sec/lap advantage over the first session, you would have easily lapped the entire field 2.5 times

(20 laps * 5 seconds = 100 seconds / 42 second [benchmark lap time] = 2.5 laps in front!)

Actually we were out there for 20 minutes for that session - so you should have been in front more like 3.75 laps.

Funny though i didnt see you lap me once. hmm then again there were some safety periods, i am sure that stuffed you up :)

Anyhoo, better luck next time, i am sure the truth is out there somewhere

Another one would be great... :yep:

How about we get together on a Sunday at say 11am (because plenty of people work Saturdays ??) at Eastern Creek Karts then head over to Greystanes Inn for lunch and a few drinks and socialising ??

Only reason i suggested Greystanes is it's less than 15mins from the karts, great food at reasonable prices, family friendly and plenty of parking with the cars in full view...

Anyone keen ??
