founf this to suit my L67 and just wondering how everybody esle has gone with them the car is more a show pony/drag car did it make any difference and how long did it last looks good for cool down cant see how it would reduce hp loss but as have to run the belt there?any one

it should free up a few hp cause it runs an electric motor to drive it not the belt. the more things the belt system has to drive the resistence there is on the belt there for the more horsepower it takes to turn the belt. just like adding weight into your car, the less weight you have the easier the engine revs under load the more weight you have the more effort required to do the same job.
the main features of the electric water pumps are the idle and slow speed clooling ability. normal belt drive pumps spin faster with revs and slower at idle meaning that there most efficent at higher revs but which how causes more heat. the electric pump spins the same high speed no matter what revs you are doing so it inturn circulates the fluid better. it is very usefull for faster warm up of your engine by having the pump switched off the coolant doesnt circulate which heats up the engine quicker(inproper use would be dangerous) then switched on to control the temp. it also means you can shut your engine down if over heating and have the pump still running to circulate the fluid around to reduce the temp. you should never shut down a boiling engine as things can go bad cause theres no circulation on a belt driven pump with out the engine turning over.
and another plus is they look shit hot.

looks great and should work a treat. Do they have EWP's for LS1's. I think it'd suit my turbo engine well as it'd allow water to cool the turbo once the engine is shut down.

do NOT use the davies craig water pumps for a daily driver...
they will fail and they will leak and will cause you lots of problems!

even on a v6 but cause the belt has to run over the water pump any way?

yeah no matter what engine it is the less things running off the motor the less load placed on it. a big performance gain might not be seen but thats not the real point of these pumps its the added flexibility for the cooling system which is most important.
as for the belt running over the water pump, if you replaced it with an ewp youd be able to re rout your belt system with a shorter belt bye passing that region.

here you go mate found it at vpw's site. not cheap but nothing for these ls1's is yet when compared to the old small block chev.

Agreed. Ive heard some NASTY horror stories about these things. Not bad for short runs but not something i'd put on a daily.

they say only 1oo miles from this one but if you want a elec pump on a street car i would get the ewp one that the used on the lemans car just gos in the rad hoses and forces it past the water pump

ive seen the horror stories first hand with the leaking between the 2 halves, leaking around the seals and generally just dont flow enough, we used to use them on all our rotors, now we would only use the mazire pumps

What Dale said, they have cost us a few race engines unfortunately... :(

I was looking into getting a Davis craig EWP as a options when I did my cam. Looking at the above maybe not. They has said they have new models and have the higher flowing ones out with the electronic controller. Does these disaster stories are still current and for a daily driver definitially no EWP still a no go.
I have not heard of the mazire pumps but the $ does not make it very worthwhile unless it is top end stuff. Would not be for me anyway.
Some details would be good. If it is a simple NFW I will take that as it is.

Found a kit that is a one for one item complete ready to go on using the same belts. Price put me off but still thinking about it.

About $1100 landed give or take. Expensive 10fwkw but I want it for cooling control for the super hot track days and the normal temp track days. That is where the issues are so it may help.

Best I found now after a fair old search is $826 landed. Still a bit much but see what I can do.
