Haha, thanks mate. Yes, it was pretty stupid to get carried away and do that after a great start and getting up to 4th.

Oh well, I learnt, and got to have some fun fighting back through the traffic! Going side by side with the Peugeot coming onto the back straight was the best. :waving:

Great work ... pity you can't see a bit more out the front window, nice overcast day would probably be perfect, no glare !!!

:bravo:

Yeah, still need to make some adjustments to the camera setup and mount. Started off in fog for qualifying, can see even less there!

:bravo: Nice one Dave ... the old 2-3 shift is a bit of a leap of faith going up the hill.

Handling nicely going by those pics and the concept of a "racing Corona" still gives me a bit of a :D.

Mount that camera in the bumper Dave ... :yep:

BTW does the shifter always flop about like that?

Yeah, 2-3 is a bit vague, although I only missed it that once through the whole meeting I think. Actually don't notice it moving around that much when you're in the car.

Most people do:shock: when they see a racing corona. And then :bravo: when they see how fast it goes! 11s for a NA 2 litre at Wakefield isn't too shabby...

OP next weekend... :flame:

Would love to get a better camera setup... but then that costs $$ and those $$ can be used for more racing!

Great vids Dave. So the IPRA (?) class racing is different to supersprints? I'm hoping to go watch Round 4 of the NSW Supersprint Championship later this morning at OP & see what it is all about. Will call it a reconnaissance trip of sorts ;) :D.

Yep, IPRA is very different to supersprints.

If you do go out to the supersprint (and get this before you go), say hi to a guy called Duncan in a White MR2. I got him started in supersprints a few years back.

Also, are you sure its today? I had it in my calendar for yesterday...

IPRA is door to door racing, where supersprints are... well, supersprints.

Bit of a comparison between the 2 here: http://www.myracing.net.au/html/s02_article/default.asp?nav_cat_id=147&nav_top_id=64

was definately on yesterday.

great vids dave, did you get to go out in the fog that morning? would have been interesting, it was great for me taking photos but some of you guys couldnt see 2meters in front of you early on.

Yeah, it wasn't as bad as I had originally thought it might be. By the time they let us out you could see through about 3 or 4 corners at a time, which is enough.

More difficult was getting some heat into the tyres and car. I took about 5 laps really easy warming everything up before putting in 1 quickish lap. Couldn't believe how many people just went straight out and thrashed it. Must have more $$ for engine rebuilds than me! ;-)

Nice work mate!!! I gotta get my arse into gear and join the fun in my SS. :D

Dave, whack a jack under the diff until the tyres are an inch or three off the ground, a couple of stands then start her up, run it through the gears a few times and get everything up to temp before going out... :yep:

The right engine temp doesn't mean the diff and 'box are up to optimum temp. We used to do the above at Wakefield all the time as it's so bloody cold down there...

BTW - Car should be fine after two laps max mate. If you do the above that i suggested then on the outlap continually ride the brake pedal for half a lap or so, it'll be fine. Then thrash it like a farm animal... :waving:

Thanks Boppa - good tip! I'll use that next time at Wakefield.

I guess I was being a little over cautious to get everything (including gearbox, diff etc) up to temperature, but then I'd rather be that way inclined than the other!

Aeron - that SS is just begging to be turned into an IPRA car! Just ask Boppa ;-)

IPRA requires cage???

MY Racing 221
05-07-2007, 09:09 PM
Yes mate, sure does. (Very) basically, anything that's a 'race' needs a cage. Supersprints technically aren't races (best time wins, as opposed to first past the post), so MOST cars don't need them for supersprints.

In a race situation, a cage is mandatory.
