I have seen a few threads on the LS1 site, but i thought id ask you guys, rather than start yet another thread in LS1.
I was wondering if any of you guys can point me to the right catch can to use on the LS1 engine, and where is the best place to get one from. Ive seen a few on Ebay, but not sure if there the right thing for this engine.

Have a guess which colour i want :D
Dan
Mate just the other week installed on eon my car.
Those ones at eBay look great and are cheaper then what I paid.
Unless you are running big cubes EG 438 etc or FI that catch can will do you IMHO.
Check out the install that Febs did on LS1.com.au, it has a good write up and some good pics.
Note:- That if you drive a VY that the PCV is a lot simpler then pre VY. The VY PCV is a little metal pipe coming out of the crank case just on THE right (YOUR left) of the TB.
If you have a VY type PCV the hose connecting to the PCV looks about 15cm long and will be in a horse shoe shape.
Will find a pic for you Dan.

Thankyou for the info troy. How much did you pay for the catch can at autobarn, and did it come with all the right peices, or did you have to buy the right bolt to mount the can onto the engine ? My ute is a Vu (2002).
Dan
Hey Dan, no worries :yep:
It was about $135 I think and came with the mount, different sized fitting for bigger or smaller hoses but didnt come with any hoses.
Was easy to fit even though I had to bend the mount to get it to fit.

Dan, that one you found on ebay is apparently not bad. I know one forum member that has this particular one. The only thing he did extra was to open up the lid & add some steel wool to act as "baffles". Sounds like a good idea for circuit work. I am also thinking of going down this route as I have an "alternate" system that would be frowned upon by some ;).

Dan,
I run one of those particular catchcans as does Martin (FEBS) and for what they cost they're pretty good.
The really handy thing with the round (and square) ones is you can undo the top and move it around into a position that best suits the ways you want to run the lines on your engine.
I've put 2 x steel wool scourers inside a cut down stocking to serve as "baffles" and hopefully cut down a bit more oil vapour as has Martin (I think) They look good and seem to work pretty well for a good price and are piss easy to fit. Good bling value as well which is handy.
Dave.
