ok here are the progress pics

will be firing into life tomorrow, just have to finish the dump pipes and put the radiator back in, pretty stocked as we managed to get a 3in pipe through the drivers side!!!

dale you surely are a man on a mission. are you running your old turbos atm or are they the new ones.

Dale,

Very nice, very nice indeed - quite the factory look.

Couple of questions, I think I remember you saying that the battery is planned to remain up front, is the battery hiding there or is it relocated for convenience?

Second, I notice on almost every LS1 turbo I have ever seen has the standard/ported std throttle body and LS6 manifold and have always wondered if this is a conscious decision or is this an area that could be further exploited power wise or I am stretching here does it have something to do with intake velocity :o

I cant wait til she's run in - bet I'm not Robinson Crusoe there :)

I think this was with the new LSXT kits ... probably not what this one is. Pretty sure Dale said the LSXT kits are mounted low, hence no need to move the battery.

On another note, how the f#*k did you fit a 3 inch pipe on the drivers side ??? Nice work ... :yep:

thanks guys,

yes the LSXTT kit mounts the turbos low, this is all our own made stuff to show what we can do, it now has custom made manifolds on it and a host of other bits,

when running FI you dont need a huge throttle body, my piping is only 63mm so the stock 73mm tb will be fine,

getting 3in pipe through was the aim of the custom manifolds, we could get 3.5" through there now if we wanted to but that will be a little over board for these turbos, that is something that reversed manifolds cannot do!! 2.5 was the biggest we could get through there before

I was down there today and it looks like a TOP set up

ok she is all done, couldnt be fucked putting it on the dyno tonight will do it tomorrow, one small water leak to take care of in the morning, which isnt too bad, no oil leaks which is even better,

just have to make a catch can to fit now !

smart thing to do. you have made us all eager on this one dale i just cant wait for the results and how it feels to drive compared to before. did you change the comp at all?

DAle,what sort of balancer are you running there?

10sec_rx7
05-07-2007, 09:38 PM
yes dropped the comp :)

the balancer is a power bond 10% UDP

 ... HOLY CRAP !!!

That's insane Dale, awesome work. Another 10rwhp or so and you'll have yourself 500rwkw ... :yep:

I can't imagine how you will get any traction in that thing now, but I'm sure you'll have fun trying. Congrats. on the result, very impressive.

Nice. Very bloody nice!!! Well done.

thanks guys,

the aim was to make 600rwhp, it did that easily on 12psi (620rwhp) so i hit the boost button to give it a little more and after a couple of pulls to dial in the fuel it went 659!! the look on uncles face was priceless!! LOL

ok here is a comparasion of the old vs new,

same cam shaft,
1 point less compression on new motor
custom exhaust manifolds not reversed factory ones
different inlet manifold
boost response is heaps better with the new motor!!

Pretty awesome numbers there Dale.

What is it like to drive on boost?

10sec_rx7
10-07-2007, 02:42 PM
its pretty hairy, it dosent get traction till 4th gear so it is just a big pedel comp!!

That's a fantastic result Dale!!!

Why i think of it, do u guys custom make turbo exhaust manifolds?? im looking at a new one for the eskort!!

10sec_rx7
10-07-2007, 04:06 PM
we can do them but try not too as they are a pain in the ass!

Any plans of getting it out the the strip in the near future?

SHIT  ... nope that doesn't quite cover it.

I'll be back later when I think of an appropriate expletive to describe that power Dale.

the thing that shits me is if i wasnt so consertive on the turbos to start with it would be making a lot more power as well :(

Delft Maloo
12-07-2007, 06:15 PM
just how big of a pair of turbos would you go if you coud do it again?

10sec_rx7
13-07-2007, 01:13 PM
gt30 compressors with .82 external wastegate exhaust housings :)

Delft Maloo
13-07-2007, 05:38 PM
where would you run the drivers side wastegate at? im building my single manifold at the moment and with the size of the turbosmart 45progate there aint much room in there. i did greedlly look at putting both my turbos on the ute together but thought that would be overkill. i had another look last night at the twin idea and really couldnt see any room for the wastegate on an external setup on the drivers side.

10sec_rx7
14-07-2007, 08:45 AM
it would be tight but using some tial 38mm gates you would get it in there as they are pretty small,
