I'm after thoughts about my upcoming transmission rebuild (T56).
At a minimum its going to need 2nd gear synchro and likely some bearings

1) I can use a local business, likely not highly experienced with the T56
2) Is it worth the trouble/expense/time to ship the box to say Mal Wood
3) Seek out a NSW/Sydney T56 gearbox specialist.

Give me your thoughts and recommendations for businesses.

Thanks
Ian

From experiance... Mal wood is good but the price is at least double of anyone else. I'd talk to Sonny, Sams, Dale @ CHE for options before sending it north.

Sonny did a fantastic job on stripping my box and rebuilding it, much much smoother than it was before so definitely give him a call. Another option is gearbox factory, I know they have experience with the T56, try les@gearboxfactory.com.au (Out in sydney west, granville way I think)

One thing to bare in mind, a lot of garages outsource their box work to a 3rd party, which adds to the time and cost on your part. You're better off finding a place that does the work themselves IMHO. Good luck!

PS Mal wood might not be the cheapest but he is the only official Tremec approved operator in Australia
