View Full Version : Which Drag Radials to use?

Guys after 25 runs at WSID track day, i have decided to go with 15inch drag radials.
Which tyre's do you guys use down the 1/4mile on 15 inch steel rims?
Where in Sydney do you buy them from or are they only available from Rocket Industries?
Are there any different size 15inch steel rims or are all spare tyre rims the same?
Thanks in advance and sorry for so many questions.
Cheers Sav.

American Autos (https://www.americanautos.com.au/secure.html)
MT3752R
TYRE-M/T ET STREET RADIAL 15" 235/60
$286
or here (out of stock)
http://www.v8owners.com.au/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=5
Best run on a 8" interceptor rim (fitted to utes). Most interceptors are 7's or 7.5
I bought 8" interceptors from NVU melbourne for approx $35 a wheel.

Word of advice, don't buy from V8Owners for gods sake...
If you can't buy from Rocket, call Starr Performance in Sydney

Agreed... Star Perfromance at Five Dock used to have them for $510 pair. Bought a few pairs from them. Rocket were >$300ea last time I checked (for the layman with no account :headbang:).
Star Performance: 2a Regata Rd Five Dock NSW (02) 9747 2200. I think Mark is the dude there :).

The 15" wheels come in different widths. I think it was recommended that for the MT's you run 15x7" chasers. You can occasionally pick them up on ebay or maybe try NVU's website in melbourne.

Will the 255's (MT3756R)fit under a ute? or do they srub even if i roll the gaurds, these are listed for 8inch wide wheels!.
Thanks again Sav.

Go the M/T's. I went for RE55's. What a waste of dough, still couldn't get traction with the high stall

Sav,
I bought my M/T 235/60's on alloy rims second hand and at one stage they were on a ute. They have their share of guard scrub on them from the ute, but it may be the offset of the alloys...

Yeah i think i may just go the 235's on steel to be safe, i will then see if the gaurds need rolling.
Bill you made good use of those tyres with consistent and great times coming out of your car, shame we didn't get to have a NSWFB grudge match:rocket: (only .2 sec's between them for now), but we can organize it next time, your car was one that spooked me towards the MT's.
Ps, how did you go with the install? Did it do the job?

The 'install' is still in its planning stage, I've been a little crook and haven't been farked to go down and measure anything up as yet. In fact, I only just unloaded my drags tyres and the parts out of my boot yesterday from the drag day...
Having looked at it a couple of times without the new parts on hand I reckon it shouldn't be too much fuss. Thanx man...
How was that additive??
