Well after well and truely scoring my front left rotor at Wakefield park I was in need of getting my Brake rotors machined.

I have standard sized DBA 4000 Rotors on the front of the SS.

So I went to my local mechanic where Jason (RAV57L) works. Here put on the on car Rotor machining machine. I had never seen one before, only ever had mine done on off car ones, anyway, worked a treat and got ma Rotors back to new in 30 minutes. Only had to take about .5 to 1mm off the Rotors.

Had bought some new Ferodo TS2000's which we put on as well.

Took some pics with my phone, here they are.

That's a pretty cool setup ... must make it easier.

Why did you get them machined Bomi, vibrations / noisy / precaution ??? Just wondering how you know when you need to do it.

Well Nick Im glad you asked as I forgot to put some pics of the caliper/pistons and the scored pad.

Here we go, some pics from the last Wakefield track day.

The pad that scored the Rotor, metal on metal equals......

A good Rotor should be a metalic colour and relatively clean and free of "muck". As you can see above, my front left Rotor is not clean looking and is badly scored.

When metal rubs on metal at speeds of 180 KM/H then the result is, HEAT and lots of it Dah!!

Check out the piston dust boots below!

The piston boots (seals) have melted due to the extreme heat, these need to be replaced.

Sonny, some would say!! But as you know, having any auto I have less compression braking available so its middle pedle BIG time for me. I was managing to get the balls up to brake after the kink in the main straight at Wakefield last track day.

Gonna stick with the DBA 400 6x6 wiper slots till they are out machinable rotor.

Then I might go up a few mm in rotor dia ;)
