Hi All
I was wondering if any of the members here would be interested in a group buy for an HID conversion kit from Gerald @ Gadgetmaster.
From all accounts, he sells an excellent kit with prompt delivery and is very helpful to all his customers. As it stands his kits are cheaper than most on the market and he also gives a 10% discount to LS1 members. On top of this, he has advised he will be able to give a further discount for a group buy.
At this stage, there is no certain price, as I will need to get back to him definitive numbers before he can give us a price for the kits. If you are interested, please put your name, along with your car make, model and year and what specific kit you are after, ie just lo beam and park lights kit, high/Lo beam kit, etc.
Once I get the numbers I will shoot an email off to him so he can give us a final price.
Cheers.
PS I have also posted this on the LS1 forum, so you can put your name down in that thread if you want.

How about the price before the discount? That way people will have an idea of how much they are spending. Might be the difference between being interested and not... :D

Around $200 for one kit ... or approx. $350 for a hi / low beam kit. I think ...
I may be interested, I'll get back to you.

Hi mate
Unfortunately I cant name a price as yet, simply because Im gauging the interest of the forum. Gerald has advised he can come back to me with a price once I have confirmed numbers.
As Nick said, it will be around the $200 mark and a bit more for the hi/low beam kit (which is pretty much redundant unless you do a lot of country driving).
I may be interested, I'll get back to you.
Thanks Nick.
PS Im do not work for Gerald, neither do I know im personally. I dont stand to make any money from this deal. Im simply doing it because Im in the market for HIDs and thought it would be a good idea. Just thought I should add that in. :)

Hey guys
I have just recieved a reply from Gerald. He has also thrown in the price for number plate lights which I am planning to get. Makes a big difference in the overall look of the car.
Hi Faraz,
Sorry for the delayed reply. It's been a hectic day today.
The kits are $200 delivered for the single beam (ie, not H4 Hi/Lo kits).
I recommend getting the H4 Hi/Lo Magnetic Movement for the H4 Hi/Lo kits. These are $280 delivered.
With the LEDs, I suggest using the 360 degree 5 LEDs for the parkers and the 4 LEDs for the number plate. The 5 LEDs (parkers) are $6 delivered and the 4 LEDs (number plate lights) are $5 delivered.
Regards,
Gerald
I have done some research on this and so far this is the cheapest deal by far and the best part is that he lives in Sydney so delivery is very quick.
So what do you guys say? If you give me confirmation that you wish to move ahead with the purchase, I will provide Gerald with a copy of your email adresses and we can go from there.
Cheers
Faraz

I have emailed him, so Im just waiting on a response. Will post as soon as I find out.
Out of curiosity, would you go for the hi/lo kit or just the low beam kit? Im thinking ill just get the low beam kit, but Im having second thoughts after Gary said it looks a bit weird with hallogen and xenon globes mixing.
PS Firebug, I have listed the prices above if you are interested.

Gerald has just responded regarding the magnetic movement kit -
As for the magnetic movement kit, this kit basically uses a single beam bulb, but it controls the beam pattern by moving the bulb up and down. These are sufficient for most applications, unless you require both high and low beams on, then you would need the dual bulb Bi-Xenon. These use 4 ballasts instead of 2 because it requires 2 ballasts per bulb as each bulb contains 2 Xenon gas tubes.

Thanx mate, I was really posting for everyone else's benefit. I really need to allocate my funds elsewhere at the moment... :up2sum:

Funky ... I'll let you know exactly what I want to do tomorrow ... I'm kinda thinking the seperate bulbs / ballasts will give a better result.

Guys
Just a quick update. The kit will actually be cheaper than what was initially quoted on this thread.
Low beams will be around $175 - $180 and the hi/lo kits will be around $250 - $255. Will confirm price once we have more confirmed numbers.

I have HIDs in both High and Low beams and they are just....Fantastic! I'd never go back to incandescent - just poor as p*** by comparison. High beam is just like daylight...I like! If you do a bit of country driving these are really a must!...

Seldo, is there a slight delay when using HID hi-beam? I know HID's take a few seconds to "warm up" to full output, but when they do, yes, it is daylight. A have an HID low beam kit atm, & absolutely love it. Real chalk & cheese compared to my old H1 halogens.
