About as dull as the Cobra Falcon IMO ... although at least that got a bit more power. I sure hope there is something more exciting yet to be reveiled.

You would expect something special other than a colour.. though I think I like the champagne...
Motorshow opens today so that countdown should have stopped on HSV

Countdown has stopped and it looks like the 2 suprises where the 2oth ann. Clubsport and the Maloo ... neither of which was actually a suprise !!!
Very disappointed, although it stopped me buying another car so that's probably a good thing ... :(

Wow, that is really great...
I would certainly take a Falcon GT Cobra over this thing. Even if they do release something else this car is a real disappointment.

Now you have gone too far ... whack a few blue stripes on the car and call it a Cobra ??? Yeah ... OK.
Power is still down on the HSV, unlikely to be any better balanced than the tanky V8 Falcon has ever been, basically it has stripes and a picture of a snake ???
Ford and Holden are getting really good at making a big deal out of nothing.

lol as I am sure you know that is what the original Falcon GT Cobra was, a set of stripes and a badge. At least this one has engine mods over the regular GT.
Sorry the Cobra looks allot better then then the Camry inspired 20th Anniversary Clubsport with such wonderful additions as "Unique 20th Anniversary sill plates" and "Chrome shadow wheels and brake callipers finished in black and gold". Wow
I just couldnt be seen driving this car and retain my dignity. Maybe I will feel different when I see it in the metal.
Truth be known I wouldnt buy either. I would prefer a regular VE Clubsport. As I said VERY disappointing.

I was aware of that, and I reckon the first "Cobra" Falcon was just as ridiculous. I'm not a fan stripes ... never have been. So to me the Cobra looks just like a regular XR8 ... only uglier.
However ... I agree, I wouldn't buy either.

Actually I usually hate stripes on cars to but dont mind the Cobra. I despise the VE track stripes. Very tacky. The yanks will love them :yep:

So is that what the countdown was all about?????? A different colour Clubby and the Maloo???????
Everybody already knew about those, pretty shit surprise if you ask me.
Does the motor show start at 5pm today? If so, maybe they will have something else up their sleeve.

As discussed on LS1 ... it seems unlikely. I got some passes from HSV for the Motor Show, on the back of the pass they mention that 2 cars will be unveiled. If you look at the HSV website they have a news article saying that "Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) has unveiled two new models, including a special commemorative ClubSport R8" ... the other model is the Maloo.
Also keep in mind that while these cars weren't suprises to us they would be to anyone that doesn't frequent any forums. No one knew exactly what the anniversary model would look like and the Maloo suprise was blown by Motor went they sent out all the November mags early. Otherwise both would have been unseen models.
I really hope I'm wrong ... but my gut tells me that's it ... :headbang:

I just read all that stuff on LS1, I'm glad I'm not the only one who is disappointed.
It's not so much that the cars they have released are below par it's just that they are far from being the "biggest event in 20yrs".

Sorry but was the "HSV surprise" ... an award for the blandest HSV ever released?
Not overly impressive (but still nice) for a "special edition" HSV ... however, I wish I had one. :o
Yeah pretty bloody lame for a 20th anniversary car IMO...
Holden marketing people really know what HSV owners want hey :headbang:

I would still have own if offered but for the big 20th celebrations it could have been a bit more than what they have offered.
The yellow VS GTS-R is something more of a one off, which should have been what the 20th anniversary model was.
so let me get this straight, there are absolutely no performance enhancements for this model? powertrain / handling / brakes?

HSV stuff's it up again - big surprise there :( Talk about milking it for all its worth. At least when HDT built a special - you knew it would be good!!

I actually like it. Its subtle and has some sporting edge to it. The brakes look good. What did you guys really expect? Common as if they were going to give you a 350kw engine when the VE range is in its infant months. Maybe a small power update but nothing special to come out until the Ve facelift.
Where the wagons on show today?

JB i think people were more pissed off with being promised the "biggest moment in HSV history" as sprouted using a countdown mechanism on their website, only to find out the biggest moment was a big fizzer. Honestly why would they do that? It's either a marketing stuffup, or else they think we are stupid?

Thats it... I actually quite like the car... but it definately isn't a defining momoent in HSV's 20 years....

Correct mate ... mechanically identicle to every other VE.

That's exactly it ... when they released the 15th anniversary VX Clubby there was no big fanfare, they just started selling it and everyone went "that's a nice idea". Calling it the "biggest moment in HSV history" was just ridiculous ... compare everything that HSV has ever released, does yesterday really seem like the biggest moment in HSV history ???
I'll keep buying HSVs ... I just think they need to stop the BS and get back to making great cars. Far too much marketing BS and not enough ...

More marketing hype and media time time generates more interest and the end more sales. It is a bit of a fisser when they have the countdowns and stuff.
I also would have thought something along the lines of a canary yellow stroked GTS like previously.
Anyway I like the car and I am sure the punters will snap them up.
Nick- The money you were going to spend on another car, just throw it my way. I will spend it easilly on one of these.

Saw the great 20 year HSV today at the show and its nice but doesn't stand out. There were more people checking out the sports wagon than looking at this car...
Overall the holden stand was fairly quiet compared to Mitsubishi which was busy due to the hot models next to the EvoX and Audi for the really nice cars they had. The R8 and the RS4 were very nice. Wish i had a spare $160k+ for the RS4.

In HSV's defense, this is the first time they have been able to work so closely with Holden allowing the launch the Maloo in record time. They do deserve some credit for being so dam quick to market. Im sure they all worked really hard to make the Maloo happen... I mean, its not like they just slapped 2 blue stripes on the car and gave it a new name :stick:
As for the R8, that needed the LS7, a set of twins (be it Twin screw or Twin Turbo), or at least a bigger CAM with for the extra ponies, and maybe some custom wing or other body parts... But i do love the new paint, cant wait to see it in the flesh

They also gave it more power (302kw). Which surprised me because usually Ford do nothing with so-called ?special? editions. But who cares, it?s all about trying to move stock (Like the Lowndes edition ute) before the new model comes in.
But yeh, the 20th Anniv CS looked hot at the motorshow.
Oh, and I want an SS-V sedan in that bright Green. I love it!!! :yep:

Oh yeah, i forgot about that... Good on em, they have more power, different CAM's i hear... im glad the special R8 didn't have anything to good, i wouldn't want to have missed out
