Note the last 2 - I heard that Skaife and R Kelly had a big T-bone ....

I believe Kelly spun (clipped the tyres) and was in the middle of the track when Skaife came around a corner blind (damn concrete) and had nowhere to go except for straight into Rick.

:headbang: ... poor Skaife / HRT

Me too Paul. Woohoo! great w/e. Spoiled by having my car towed...:flame: .... Moved it out of the secure car park under the units where we stayed (at 1 am) and thought I'd parked it in a really good secure safe spot so that I'd be able to get away quickly after the race. (the car-park was locked until 7pm) Came to pick it up .......nothing! No signs no nothing....Cost me $140 limo fee (no cabs) plus $410 towing.....plus repaint my spoilers where they damaged them by dragging it onto a flat-top.... VERY P.O :flame: I'm so angry I am still shaking! Going to try to sue someone....Not Happy Jan!!!

This year was the 1st year we had on track accomodation, picked up a last minute cancellation last week and im so glad we went again. We have been 5 times before and stayed off track at Q1 and Peninsula which were great.

Relatively cheap also at $440 per night for a 2 bedroom apartment between Falken & Bigpond Corner in Main Beach.

The event is such a great weekend with so much to see on and off track (off track enternainment was plentiful this year :yep: ), Wendy come's with me every year and has a better time than i do at it i reckon.

Once i get home ill upload some photos, i was dam impressed with the Eurocopter Tiger attack helicopter the Army had on display, awesome piece of machinery!

What happened in the ChampCar race? Did Will Power win? I only saw the start & haven't heard or seen any news clips. And isn't that a fantastic racing drivers name???

Hey Eric

Unfortunately, Will was a DNF - hit another car when attempting to leave his spot in pit lane, which damaged his front RH wheel (struts I think?). He continued racing but was struggling with the steering and not long after he spun out and crashed.

Such a shame. And I agree - best name ever !!

Cheers Lynda. I saw the first lap whilst at work & that was it. He was leading then :bravo: . Sucks about the rest. I did tape it, but finding time to sit down & watching it is another story.

It's certainly a great event. There is just so much to see and do and it's one huge party. We always stay at Sunbird on the outside of Falken corner - we book the same units each year - awesome view right down the back straight, the Chicane, Falken and down to the Esses (whatever they are called). We book 2 units - one without a track-view for us ...ermmm....mature persons so we can get some sleep as needed, and one as the party unit and for watching from....
Yes, I had a resident On-Track Parking Permit plainly on view in the car. There were no no-parking signs at all either, and I parked there on the Friday night with no dramas along with 30 other cars....
