Awesome efforts by both you guys today! I was stoked with I heard your results.. very well deserved :)

ps. Sorry I didnt say ciao erik or dunc.. Dunc was on track and I didnt have the heart to wake Erik from his deep sleep :headbang:

Big thanks to Alan, Scott and the rest of the AEM team for inviting me to cover the day for them, I had a blast.

The new car looks very pomising for it's destiny, and it's got some great support crew (hi john :waving: )

One quick photo of said car..

Had a great 2 sessions today. Only 9 flying laps was done in total due to my motor "expiring".... developed a terminal knock. Oh well, after a tortuous 176,000km and many, many circuit days & ~150 1/4 passes, I think I got good value :yep: . Possibly spun a bearing but will know more when Russo pull it down. The car got car-carrier'd straight to Russo HQ at lunchtime (Cheers Neville.... same bloke Josh used to get his GTS home from Wakefield).

Anyway, new pb :D:

So close to the 1:08, yet so far. Shaved >7/10 off previous pb (1:09.79). Only real change was I ran slightly lower tyre pressures: 34psi HOT seemed to work nicely, along with fresher rubber... thanks Dunc.

Hey congrats to all and especially the 1.09 guys! That is an awesome time - Erik shame but about your motor but as you say you have had a good run :) I always thought that 1.09s were doable in these cars with the right suspension set-up and tyres (I'm guessing you like the coil-overs!!), oh and of course 450+ LS1 hp doesn't hurt either :D

Cheers,

Beej

Nice times boys!

Eric, I like how the fact the motor let go was secondary to the time...
I hope it isn't too expensive to rectify... but now that they are pulling everything apart... you might as well....

For such heavy arsed barges they are some very very impressive times guys, well done !! :yep:

With more track time and some extra hp who knows Eric, there might be a 7.9 in her...

Cheers,
Paul...

Paul, think I'll be sporting a few more horses very shortly (read next week hopefully) with some new internals, care of Russo :D. But not sure more hp will necessarily help. Just need a lap that everything goes absolutely right. Not long ago we thought sub 10's were impossible. Don't think sub 8's are anymore. Something to aim for.

FatBoy

Mate nothing is impossible... :)

The I.P spec late model Commodores are in the very low 8's and they run shitty (in comparison) Yokohama tyres. I reckon your tyres are worth a good second at least, maybe even two. They also run less trim etc but comprehensive roll cages so i'm guessing the weight differences would be marginal...

I think with a bit of persistence you might just get that 7. That'd really open a few eyes !! I know the GTP cars do 5's and 6's down there but have the advantage of slicks but lower horsepower. On radials they are always going to be the limiting factor...

Get to work. And let me know when you are next heading down to the track, i wouldn't mind coming for a look... The turbo fanboys might get a real rude shock when they see you going around... :)

Cheers,
Paul...
