Hi every one.Hope santa is bringing everyone a big stick and some tough springs. I just want a twin turbo. Dreams are free. Anyway, I've been trying to solve the barstard wherrrr sound after cam install. I pulled the little white one way valve from the Vacuum hose at the back of the engine. Air came from the pipe leading to the solynoid below the brake slave cylinder. Only thing is that little white valve has a black end and white end. 'Shit what way didi it go'?I've blown and sucked and can only come to the conclusion that the black end points towards the intake as the one way valve only allows air to go from the intake to the solynoid. Am I right? Only thing is I've now got no pressure in the vacuum hose and it want build up again, also the climate control only works on de-mist. Any help would be great. 'cam noise'.The car has been all over to see ex workshop managers that used to work for Holden and now work for themselves. AS well as others,To find out what the noise is from the back of the engine. I may as well dig a hole and stick my head in it. What is it with people that have worked for Holden dealers? Anyway we all come to the conclusion that somthing is going on around the back cam bearing area:headbang. What goes Wheerrrrrrrr and goes up and down with revs and sounds like I have a sick Turbo, or a supercharger, the more revs the higher the pitch even sounds like a wobbley wheerrrrr at times. $100.00 to the person who can pin point this problem and I'm going to make it easy. I'll get the vid cam out and post a clip ASAP. Cheers people.

If you only have demist then there is definately a vacume leek. The white valve thingo is a filter and ive had mine on both ways without a problem. Id say they have left off a hose, the map sensor isnt in right or an intake seal isnt seated correctly. Its not a hard job to remove the manifold and check if you need to. It might look scary but its 10 bolts, a few clips on the injectors and your done. The intake gasket not sealing correctly is common so when you remove the manifold have a look how they are all seated. When you go to put it back on use a bit of silicon grease (vasaline works fine) and move the manifold forwards and backwards a little to help it seal.
If you were in Brisbane id do it for you. As i said, its very easy to do and you dont need to remove the injectors, rails, TB etc. keep them all attacked and just undo the 10 manifold bolts and disconnect the wires to the injectors and coilpacks.
If you need phone assistance call me.

The intake seals seem fine. Not sure were the Map sensor is,Iv had it retuned and the guy had a listen but no go.The tune is acting a bit funny now to.missing at Idle and the reves when i stop in gear will jump up to 1000 and drop back.the warmer the engine gets the more it plays up.{"Thats tinkering with cars"}.Which makes the back end drop then jump.and genrally run like a dog.The noise is comming from the back there some were. And it must be getting more trubblesome if other things are going on.Although the air con only did this funky thing after i played with that dam vacuum pipe.Im not sure how the vacuum pipe works going into the solinoid. There is a bunch of hoses and it looks like the solinoid works as a water diversion. There was presure in the pipe befor i took that we filter off.It just has not recharged after reconecting. When the intake was off there was no starting the engine to get a better look and listen. With it on, there is no room.We had the ear muffs on with the listening clips and could only narrow it down to the back and most likely internaly."Iv now seen some interesting listening devices come out of the woodwork."I think the Intake will come off again and if no joy then the cam is going to have to come out for a close inspection. No one has herd this befor. The only comments from two people were all holdens have this sound, just not so loud.I no that sound around engine bays can be really tricky, and this is very anauying as everyone looks to see what is comming down the road.Hate that.cheers.

The we Vacuum white plastic thing is one way only,This is to hold vacuum presure.after turning around all sweet.Just this fauls turbo sound to sort. The tune i currently run is right up there to the point that at cruise with foot on lightly she surges a we bit and a bit hagerd at idle but all go.Ye Ha.If the fuel is crap and the day is warm then pink pink at low reves under a we bit of labour.but all go Ye Ha.Will put clip here for you to diagnose my fauls turbo tonight some time.cheers.

Based on this i am 100% sure you have a vacume leak. Remove and refit the manifold and im sure it will cure it. You cant see the seals just by looking at an engine. Take it off, check them, grease em up and check the hoses at the back and refit to solve the issue.

:waving: Yha,Iv seen seals that look new fould under pressure simply becouse they have lost there strength.when we last had the intake off they looked really good. This problem started after driving about 1k after cam install.Maybe the xtra vacuum has done a seal in.Off it comes and new seals. They arnt expensive so iv got to give it a go.Ill let you no.My son did not turn up with his digee camara so nothing for you to listen to untill he does.cheers.

Sucking, as in vacum as in a reduction or air pressure as in you put your hand over it and your hand sticks :yep:
Hope this help :)

Hi there, yes sucking. So reduction in air pressure means what?.Im have no iadea what this means in turms of good/normal/or bad.cheers.Im going to find someone with the right program to sort this video out so you guys can have a listen.Think my computer is a bit old and defunked.cheers cole.
If you are using Windows 2000 XP or Vista you will have a video editing program call Windows Movie Maker. Its very very easy to use. Have a look in your list of programs.

Iv just pulled the engine down to find the cam has ware marks where it runs on the cam bearings. The bearings also have a copper colour showing through. The secound bearing has not much silver left at all so that is what makes a wheerrring noise. The stock camshalft also has ware from the bearings.Im thinking this maybe due to a slack cam chain.I can't beleive after 60,000 this would happen.Bloody hell.
