Front windscreen

I have noticed more cars, especially small cars, with that small tinted strip at the top of their front windscreen not there. I thought all cars came with it... obviously not. I think the large family cars like Falcon, Commodore etc still have them though. Any reason for not having it?

Makes the car cheaper to manufacture.
