Does anyone have details of a thread that was posted on V8owners regarding the install of Scan Gauges? I am specifically looking for the details on how to wire the 12v power into the phone socket in the passenger footwell on VY on Holden's.

Thanks!

Mate its easy, really is.

All I did was run the Red power wire straight into the front of the fuse hole and then push the fuse in.

It has not missed a beat at all.

From memory, you can just splice into the wires going to the mobile phone jack (or buy a Holden mobile phone plug and wire it up for an even easier install).

Cheers,

I thought you were not supposed to do this? Dont you need a connector that basically accepts the 12v wire and plugs into the fuse holder? This is what the manual recommends but I could not find this product in Australia. Would make things a lot easier to do it that way.

Thanks so much for finding these pics and posting them. So basically you found the yellow accessories wire, spliced it and put a new female clip on it and then added the mail clip to the 12v power wire from the scan gauge? Obviously yours is slightly different because you have a mobile kit in your car but I think I get what you are saying. Do you know what the actual name for the clips are?

You probably are not meant to do this but I have, it works, its has not missed a beat and there is about 3.5 km's less cable and wire involved when compared to what Febs did :lmao:

But hey, it s up to :yep:

Let us know how you go?

Heh, I have already soldered 3 metres of cable on to the scan gauge loom and run it throught the dash. All I have to is wire it into the acc cable but dont want to make any mistakes. Probably being to cautious.

Will let you know how I go.

Cheers!

Sorry for the delay in posting and the crappy mobile phone pictures. It looks much better in person. I must say I am very pleased with the headunit and gauges.

Matchs well with the rest of the dash IMHO.

Thanks guys. I was concerned about the blue vs green of the dash but it looks good. I want to change the facia from Red to some sort of carbon fibre style trim like the Coupe 4. Although it isnt a Caprice cluster, standard CV8-R.

They looks great :)

Did you buy the gauges from the states or is there someone in Sydney who stocks them?

Really?

The cluster looks identical to a Caprice/Stateman cluster Daniel ... CV8-R being a special limited edition with the bells and whistles I guess that makes sense.

Gloss black would also be a good choice to replace the red dash facia.

May well be the same, I thought all Monaro's had the same cluster but cant say I am sure :) Only bad thing is this cluster doesnt have the room to add a shift light like other clusters I have seen (US GTO etc).

I really like the Piano black facia as fitted to the VZ (Duncan's car has this trim) but I have found it hard to get outside of Holden spares. I may end up with Silver if the other options dont happen.
