Today,I finally had my AP 350/332's fitted:) I cant really report on them yet as i had another battery in the boot and couldn't pull up hard.
but geez they look nice.Even with my VY SS wheels.
I'm even thinking about powder coating the wheels black but will see what else is around before doing that. Also it isn't the end of my drag racing as i took the old 286 discs and calipers home and will swap them over just for private days.

I've had a few days to run around with the new brakes and only one thing to say...FANTASTIC...Love em.

Got the same brakes as you... done 2 track days@ Oran & Wakefield(~65 laps in total)+ 10,000km and have never failed to pull the car up, also have about 50% of pad left.

Did your AP's come with Ferodo DS2500 pads? Only one down side so far, the brake dust is a killer ... I have to wash my wheels every weekend.

Great work there Bermuda. The APs are a bloody good thing.

Have you noticed a very big difference in braking in normal driving or one off emergency braking type situations?

Since Holmart has further reduced their prices on these kits, i've been giving them a lot of consideration. However, since I wouldn't do much circut racing , I am curious to hear whether you belive they make a considerable difference in normal day to day driving.

You will notice the difference every time you hit the brakes mate ... :yep:

I will never own another car without big brakes, they really do make that much difference.

Tom, how much have holmart reduced their prices? I can't get on their website (it doesnt seem to be working).

Listed as $3,489.99 on the Holmart website, but $3250 as a special offer on ls1.com.au.

When they were first available at under $2800 I was very tempted to swap my 343/343 4 piston Harrop's for these AP brakes. I considered this again after all the favourable reports but I dont think it would be worth it for the difference.

My Harrop's are still quite new and seem to work very well to me. A little bit noisy when stopping on occasion after being really noisy when new but other then that seem great. They stop so much better then the stock crap and I have flogged them through the twisties with no fade. I think I need to get Duncan's car side by side with mine for a test

Hi all i ordered my set of AP's off HOLMART last tuesday and they arrived today and i cant wait to get them fitted. Just a few questions, these come with the ferodo ds2500 brake pads which i bleive are a good pad and the mobil dot 4 brake fluid, can anyone tell me if these pads and fluid are the correct choice or if you guys run other ones.

Thanx Brett

As has already been said, $3250. I haven't seen anything else on the market that comes near this kit for quality and value.

I thought as much. I've been thinking about it for a few days now but I cannot decide whether it's worth putting this infront of a cam upgrade, especially considering i'll probably only keep the car for another year before upgrading.

I was told that the Harrop kit that is on my car can now be had for $3k brand new with a bit of effort. I think they are good buying at that price but as mentioned you are probably better off spending the extra $250 for the AP kit.

I would/ did purchase brakes (and suspension) before any engine mods. I think this is more important and actually gets more use then engine mods anyway. Many others will shoot me down on this point though :o

I just had a look on ebay and saw that Holmart are selling the kits there also. $3000 at the moment + $100 postage.

I do agree that having good brakes before doing any engine mods is a good idea though.

ahh ok. i assume it will go a bit higher.

$3250 is a great price anyway

I think AP rotors are $400 each? (or more?) x 4 = $1600
Set of DS2500's (front and rear) $450
Brake lines (say) $100? - they are the standard rubber lines i think
So thats about $1000 remaining for 4xAP calipers ($250 each)

Bargain

Got bored today and bought a set of these  there goes the cam money :headbang:

Did somebody on here or LS1 post a step by step thread on installing these? I thought I saw one once, may be usefull if it's not too complicated.

Thats the one :yep: I saw it a while back... didn't realise it was your thread.

Nothing wrong with being a 'brake slut' either. My head has always told me to get the brakes before adding power, but my deck had other ideas :weirdo:

Agreed :bravo:

They should be on my doorstep before the weeks end. I'll have a detailed look at that thread, but the decision to install them myself wont be made lightly. Not the sort of mod you want to make a mistake with

I'd be happy to give you a hand fitting them Tom ... the only problem is that I struggle to find any spare time for anything.

DaveHAT is planning on a trip to Sydney to help me with the SSV brakes (not quite sure when yet ...), if you're in no rush I'm sure we could hit both cars on the same day ???

That seems to be the consensus, I haven't heard a bad word of them. Good to hear that you are happy with yours.

I only really bought them because I got a call today saying my stock pads are almost dead. Figured it was better to spend a little(or a lot) more on something good than to waste money replacing OE crap.

These brakes are as good as you'll need imo... we've smashed them on race days & have not experienced fade. Rotors have not been a problem either. Bonus is they fit under 18" rims, so re55's aren't a problem ;).

Btw, install is easy enough after (you've done it a squillion times).

Good to hear. Just means I won't be able to use those M/T streets I bought off you

As easy as it may be to install, it's just not the sort of thing I'd do without having somebody present who can verify it has been done correctly. My front pads are almost goooone, so I don't think I can wait to do it. Will probably end up paying someone to throw em' on.

You will find ROH Furys are a very good wheel with lots of room for fitting over the bigger brakes front and rear. I found some Furys in 17s that fit over the 343mm 4 pot rear APs and they easily fit over the Harrop front 343mm 4 pots too. Handy for the odd drag day and for someone who wants to run 17 semis slick on the circuit with these brakes. They come in some good offsets for big camber too. For the drags, if you have guard mods the 275 MT will be better but they are wide.
