Didn't have the best of weekends. Didn't run on the Friday nite due to inclement weather. On Saturday, my best run was my first one of the day... 11.68 @ 119.8mph (pb 11.51 @ 120.5 at wsid). Thought it would get better than that, but progressively got slower. Consistent 11.7's. Knocked out in the second round by Dus (who went on to win LSSR). He dialled in 11.72, & ran 11.74! Very consistent all day/night  . Worst run I've had in a loooong time. Botched my start... bogged it down below 2000rpm. By then just watched him drive away from me. Didn't help I missed the 3-4 shift too :banghead:. My run was a 12.1 @ 108  (dialled 11.65 :( ). Oh well, can't win them all. Packed the car after that & then promptly loaded it onto the Russo car carrier. At least happy nothing broken :).

Weekend done.

I had a disappointing weekend racing wise. Struck down by gearbox/clutch issues again (7th track day in a row). I think the gods are working against me! Was good to get on the turps with the boys though, watch Rick smash a 10 and catch up with quite a few people down there.

You forgot your 11.65 @ 143mp/h run Erik. :bravo:

It was an interesting weekend as a spectator. :yep: Good to put some names to faces and so forth.

Some impressive machinery and times run that's for sure. :)

I had a shocker of a weekend.

Started on Thursday afternoon when i got primed up by mates, I decided to trailer my car down to Melbourne get the broken box replaced (for the 7th time) and then drive to Heathcote to race it.

I ran around Sydney all day and night on Thursday and by the time i was finished it was 3 am Friday.

So I decided to keep going and drove straight to Melbourne sorted the box and drove to the drags to run the box in a bit.

All up a 21 hour journey.

Best time was my 3rd run , 11.26@123.83 but for the rest it ran 3 to 4 tenths and 3 mph slower then it did in Sydney.

I am very suspect of the way the track works out the time slips.

A lot of people were freaking out, good and bad over their times.

It's one thing for the car to be going slower at the end of the 400 meters but what spun me out the most was the almost carbon copy 60' foot times i was getting.

Considering that i tried every possible type of take off pregressively from flashing the converter to stalling it up hard on the limit with the handbrake the 60' where almost identical.

1.761, 1.744, 1.707, 1.697, 1.698

Last month at the LS1 WSID without trying at all i was getting average 1.61 all day. I had worn out M/T and could not stall it much past 2000rpm cause it would brake traction.

The only thing that was different about the car at the LS1 Nats was

1)40KG lighter (No Subs and amps in the boot)

2)Brand new M/T (that i could not spin off the line all day)

2)Car having 10rwk more

Even tho the car felt way faster then it has ever gone , my time slips say otherwise.

I need to go back to WSID asap to get some sort of sanity back.

The disappointing thing was that I was so busy trying to workout why the car was going so slow that i hardly got to see and meet anyone.

Jesus that's a bugger Johnny - hopefully a quick visit to WSID will clarify your times with the new box.

I loved the adventure side of it but not sure if i would ever do that again.

You guys did the best thing with the transporter.

Next time count me in on that ride, it's true professionalism !!!

edit : Oh . . . did i mention the auto started to play up , (again) at the end of it all :headbang:

A few cars were having trouble with the timing gear, i suspect it was a combination of the height of the car and the burnout smoke tricking the beams.

I had 2 clean passes..both 10.5s @ 137 with a 107 and 108 mph respectively 1/2 track.

Most people from NSW in the know agreed that our cars should go approx 2 tenths quicker at Wsid mainly due to superior track conditions....i've got only 1 chance to prove that before its time for a cage and monkey suit....i hope the tracks good :burnout: .

That is the conclusion we made as well, even tho the WILWIN car ran 9.96@139

Do you think there may be a big altitude difference between the 2 tracks ?

Do you have any footage of my 1st round race against Wilwin. My car had oil surge and i had to shutdown early. You guys got a better light and went real close to your dial in.

Johnny, funny thing is we ended up having one spare spot on the transporter going down on Thursday morning as one car couldn't make it. The car carrier dude ended up filling it with another car for transit, which was lucky for us in the end.

It probably would not have worked for me since i had to go to Melbourne first to R&R the box.

Hey guys, well i managed a couple of 10.5's at around 138-141mph that weekend with 3 stage boost settings to accomodate for the track and that was with the car in full street trim inc spare wheel and so forth (apart form the slicks etc) and plenty of sideways action. I reckon next week will be interesting as i head to wsid with full boost to try for my 9 sec pass. I ended up coming 3rd in the lsss class due to being cocky and backing off a couple of times thinking if i finished the same time as the car next to me i would be right, but forgot i was a bit slow off the mark. All in all a great weekend for my car and it lives to drive another day but only forward as i lost reverse on friday night so small burnouts for me all weekend which was a bummer cos i love burning rubber.
