On Sunday I was bored so I decided to make a rear strut brace for the VX. My welding isn't the best but it turned out not too bad :D
It bolts to each side and is also bolted to the floor. :)
$20 and 7 hours later  and it was all done....
First I made a jig so I could weld it up...

:D
Also, a few weeks ago I made one of those things that V8Supercar teams use to push the pistons back in the callipers for doing a pad change. To my surprise it worked quite well. :D

Good work Aeron. I thought the same thing when I saw Eric's strut brace at WSID. If my car saw any roundy track work I'd have one of these welded up and fitted at home.
For those playing at home, it looks like you've used 6mm flat for the anchor points, what size/thickness pipe and bolts did you use? Plus high tensile bolts would finish the job off nicely... :D
Nice work mate, will be interested to see if you think it makes a difference on the track

Nice work on both the strut brace & the piston pusher tool :). I can offer a tip that I got from Matt at Race Brakes re pushing pistons back in: crack the bleed screw first. Can then basically push them back in with your hands as the fluid has somewhere to escape i.e. becomes an open system. I have tried it & can say it works. A p.i.t.a otherwise, but this tool looks to alleviate that anyway  .

add 2 more bars and pick up the top of the shocks as well it will work better
and also from top of shock to high up in the parcel tray near the rear quarter windows
and if you dont care about boot space criss cross the spare wheel hole all the way back to the rear beaver good work :yep:

Very impressive mate ... wood I can work with, when it comes to metal I have NFI. Will be very interested to hear if you can notice the difference.

Well picked! The flat anchor points are 6mm flat steel. The pipe I used is 40mm tube steel. And to top it off, I did use high tensile bolts. :D
