A couple of questions if I may.

What tyres are you running and have you had any issues with the power steering overheating etc.

Nice car by the way. :)

I reckon that's going a bit over the top - matching your house features/fence posts to the same colour as the car...;) Nice car Bill :)

Thanks Dunc... The time @ Wakefield was when I did not have all mods & tyres. I forgot to time myself when we were there last time in June.

Nice car by the way. :)

Only just got some RE55's(Have done one track day in June @ Wakefield) before that I was running my street tyres. Front=Toyo PROXES T1R, Rear=Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS-D3. Got to admit they held up very well.

As for power steering overheating, no... knock on wood, but I think that's becuase it's been very cool when I've been on the track.

I reckon that's going a bit over the top - matching your house features/fence posts to the same colour as the car...;) Nice car Bill :)
Thanks... house was painted before I got the car, so I have the wifey to blame for that... or should I thank her?

Nice car and great colour bill. Guilty here too with the same house colours and the cars. Dont have any photos of the two togeather but might one day. It actually looks quite cool and looks like it is meant to be that way.

Maybe there is some myth to this house/car colour thing

Savvy - Cheers man

Nick - No problemo man.

Voodoo - Yeah... thank god the slab gets laid today, 15cubic meters with retaining wal. Have been trying to build this dam garage for the last year or so, long story.

Here is a more recent piccy as we stand today15/08/2008(The previous was about a month ago.)

sweet garage there, when i eventually get some money and time for the yard ill get around to my shed iv can get a 5x8m garage in place of where my garden shed is now, how big is your garage it looks longer than standard 6x8-9m?

Like I said been trying to get this done as an owner builder for the last year or so... just can't believe how many things you have to do just to get the dam thing in, been quite an education. The Steel Garage was the simple bit... all the rest was a pain to deal with.

Nice work Bill. Jeez i wish i had some decent space for my toy.

Plenty of room now but you should have seen the old one... I was actually scared it would fall down very soon, so I am glad it’s done now.

6x9m(54sqm)... 16.9cubic m of concrete, 400mm wide retaining walls all the way around with 15mm reo every 300mm in the side, at least 500m below ground level with a 500mm rise at the rear(which is the highest) and a 200mm slab using 35MPa concrete.

I would have gone 7x12m but would have had to paint the palms of too many council people with extra $$$ + Structural Engineers + surveyors’ + drainage reports. All because Canterbury Council max size is 54sqm for non residential structure. Anything over 54sqm is considered as a dwelling(Where people live in) which subject to different rules & regulations and added ~ 7-12K to the entire cost.

But all good in the end and I am very happy with the end result. :D

Hey people...

As a HSVOC member I was invited to take part Interclub Supersprint so took the old girl out to Oran Park(GP Circuit) for AROCA, HSV, SSCC & WRX Clubs 2009 Interclub Supersprint series.

Was a great day, not too hot but warm enogh to make the track fast. Started my first few laps slowly @ 1:40-35, got it down to 1:30's. Fastest last was on lap 5 @ 1:28.1990 then on lap 7, came off at the kink(turn 1) @ 170-180, dropped the right rear on the grass which turned me around then I hit the right rear wheel on the ripple strip which threw me back into the infield.

Did two more laps not at any great speed and the car did not feel right so went to the pits and apart from the car covered in dirt I seen this...

http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa307/HSV271/Track%20Days/RIMG0236.jpg

The rim damage was not the worse of it... Took the car to my mate who works @ Pedders on Monday and the outcome is... :yike:
http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa307/HSV271/Track%20Days/RIMG0240.jpg PARTS ONLY!!!

Parts Used: 2 rear camber kits(Smashed them), 2 Inner bearings, 2 Outer bearings, 2 CV driveshafts & a 4wheel alignment.

The car is all fixed now and drives better than it did before and luckly I did not damage the Diff or the arms/K frame at then speed I went off. One of the regular supersprinters in the club said they have seen a few roll there cars doing the excact same thing as what happend to me so I guess I am lucky.

Now to fix the rim... and bring on the next one I say.....

sorry to hear about the broken bits Bill

but you're getting out there and having a go at the sprints, good stuff.

Last year i came off at the flip-flop and speared onto the infield (luckily) - cracked my custom sump in the process.

I checked out natsoft and there were quite a few guys there from the NSW Sprint Championship, not to mention another TC member we dont hear much of lately (Mr Quick you know who you are....)

Yep good to see others out having fun at the sprints, and very lucky to not do any serious damage.

Like you said, bring on the next one.....

Thanks guy's..... Regardless I had a blast and will be out there again @ OP South for the 3rd round in May. :driving:

And one weekend later, out to the skidpan @ EC for some Slip n Slide. Apart from the H U G E smile on my face and the sore arms/shoulders I now have this to clean... :slap:

Amazing the pain(Physically & monetarily...) we put ourselves through all for the sake of some FUN with our cars.

Probably was me as I was coming from Pedders @ Granville.

Yep.... Only problemo was it took me 2½ days to clean it...

Day 1 - 5hrs to clean the inside of all the dust from my off @ OP as I had the window open(Not doing that again...) which filled the inside of the car with dust. Vacuumed it from top to bottom, foam cleaner on all the seats and rear parcel tray, washed & cleaned all the insides of the doors, sill panel & door jams.

Day 2 - Almost 7hrs to wash it – Told wifey to move her car out and started... I jacked up the car and put it up on stands, took all the wheels off... Scrubbed the inside the wheel arches with a soft brush & covered the car in soap to soften it up and the blasted it with the pressure cleaner. Cleaned the wheels and the pressure cleaned the engine bay & under carriage and let it dry off a little while I put the wheels back on and dropped the car off the stands. Then wet it up again went over it twice with a lamb’s wool mitt, chamoi’ed it between washes and put it in the garage to clay bar it.

+ 4hrs in the garage the next day, to put 2 coats of polish and 3 coats of NXT tech wax 2.0... all by hand and the result was....

Today fellow TrackChaters I decide to give the older girl some TLC(Seeing that I am a bum at the moment...) Now some of you may not know that apart from the VX Clubby R8, I also have a genuine, 1975, HJ GTS Monaro,308, 4spd, 4 door in original condition.

Now after owning the Clubby since 2001 the Monaro does not see many days on the road and since I started to build the garage in October/September 2008 has been in storage ever since. When the garage was completed I drove it 500m from the storage place and parked it back into its new home.

After un-wrapping her, I put the battery back in(I keep it charged using an external charger...) Put the wheels back on her and dropped her down from her stands. Then put the go-jacks on the front and swung her around as I have her diagonally in the garage... after a few pumps of the gas pedal, she fired up straight away... dam I love the sound of this thing(Very old school V8 rumble....)

Then spent the next 3hrs washing her, here are some after pics (Forgot to take some before’s ... :slap:)
