Hey guys, one thing I had noticed about living on the northern beaches comparred to when I lived in Victoria was the lack of visible police presence on the roads on the Northern Beaches. You would still see patrol cars and paddy wagons, and a heavy amount of booze bus stations, but little to none on the traffic operations side of things, well all that has changed now. Either there was a budget boost to the area, or they had noticed what I had.
In the past 2 weeks, I have seen in the Dee Why area, 3 un-marked XR8's, one blue with orange stripes, one white with blue stripes and one grey with orange stripes. And to add to that, I have also seen a blue marked XR8 HWP, 2 white marked XR8 HWP, 1 white VZ marked HWP and a Red VZ marked HWP. And I have regulary seen them pinging motorists for one can only assume speeding.
So next time you are in the area - be a little more careful than you have in the past.
I've seen a blue unmarked XR(8 i presume) pull over an Echo just at the top of Warringah Rd. Seems DY/NB has got a lot of unmarked cars atm.

Yeah - I saw the white one pulling over people at the top of Warringah Road in the merge lane in front of the pool shop on Beacon Hill. I have also seen the blue one pinging people coming down the hill just as you round the bend nearing the Pitwater Road lights, and this morning I saw the blue marked one pulling over a Merc on Pitwater in peak hour, and the dumb asses didnt even find a side street, they just pulled up in the left lane!!:headbang:

I have noticed the opposite myself. When driving around the Northern beaches on Friday and Saturday nights there are Police everywhere.
An example is last Friday I went for a few drinks with mates. I was designated driver. I started in North Sydney and went on to pick up some mates in Balgowlah and some up in Newport. I saw three separate Booze bus operations, nearly a dozen marked patrol cars, a couple of paddy wagons and a few unmarked XR Falcons. Most of their cop cars seem to be XR6 Turbo Falcons.
There was a much larger presence then I have seen on the North Shore. Having said all this obviously Friday and Saturday night's are peak drink driving season so the Police come out of the wood work (a good thing!).
A good friend of my is an officer who works around those areas and the city.
He has explained to me basically they will move from area to area in packs so as to show some form of inforcement but because of the government cutting back on costs with the police this is the best they can do with limited resources.

I've seen a few of the unmarked jobs booking people at the side of the road (usually Pittwater) but haven't really paid that much attention to notice a big difference.
Too busy checking my speedo to worry about what is going on on the road itself
Seriously though, I think its a good thing. There are plenty of idiots for them to catch, thats for sure.
Cheers,
Scott
