I remember seeing Troy's rotors glowing orange at eastern creek a while back... and that was during the DAY on a damp track  :yep: :bravo: .

Chris, if you're still keen on this event, get your entry in early because I know last round was oversubscribed. Early entry should get you in even though you're not in the state championship.

Dunc's a definite starter :yep: .

Well the NSW Sprints Championship has been run and won with the final round over the weekend, the Oran Park South Day-Nighter, it was a hoot!

It nearly didnt happen for me (see another thread hereabouts) as i had a terminally cracked AP rotor which i didnt find until the night before. Luckily a bunch of TrackChatters responded, but i still had to make the 4 hour round trip to Goulburn the next morning, pick up some shiny new rotors (thanks again John) then get back to Sydney and swap them over before the sessions started. Luckily it was a late start with the day/nighter format. So all set..

I only managed to shave another 1/10th off my PB for a 50.4s lap of the South Circuit. Good enough for 3rd place in our class - but still some 3.5 seconds off the pace of the outright winner of the day (for all classes). Worlds away i guess, but there's always someone to chase.

Erik is overseas atm, thus wasnt able to compete.

Leading into the final round, Erik was in FIRST place, i was in Second, and an uber quick WRX in third. Now this WRX is usually several seconds faster than both Erik and I - he usually gets 1st place / 10 points for our class whenever he competes. However he had a couple of car issues earlier in the year, and missed a round when he was o/s at one point, which is why he was sitting on third. It was virtually guaranteed he was going to win on Saturday, grab 10 points and the 2008 SV Class Championship.

That left Erik and I to compete for 2nd and 3rd. Given the way the point system works (with drop round calcs and what have you) basically the possible outcomes were: If Erik was competing, whomever finished ahead of the other would take Second place, the other third. Given Erik was not competing, I would need to place 3rd to match his points.

Anyway, that WRX did win our class (bugga!) and outright in front of 90 odd cars too, but i did actually place 3rd (in class)

SO THIS MEANS WE BOTH FINISHED THE CHAMPIONSHIP ON 53 POINTS EACH!!.

THE OUTCOME: we have both been awarded 2nd place in the class championship!!

How good is that?

Awesome stuff. I dont think Erik knows yet, keep it quiet!

I only stayed for 1 dusk run and 1 night run... i think i was staying constant in high 51's (i was chasing that awesome toyota crown with all the homemade bits on it!) haha, kept me going harder!

Any closer to deciding what your going to run next year Dunc? Convinced Eric to stick around?

Erik says he might do a couple of rounds earlier on in the year, I hope so.

As you may know we are in the "SV" class/type - anything goes really - most cars are gutted and trailered in.

But I'm giving decent thought about going to the "lightly modified" class with my old H/C (LS1) motor. The number of competitors is larger, and I think I can be a bit more competitive. Still wont have the measure of the evo's - but it's good to have people to chase.

Wonder if I could go in that class too Duncan...the lightly modded....hmmm...

Which class are you looking at Chris?

2D looks to be a good class. Lots of freedoms and competitiors. You can do suspension/tyres/cam/tune/exhaust

evil_weevil
23-10-2008, 09:28 AM
My turbo looks standard....
haha

suspension - done
tyres - done
no cam
tune - done
exhaust - done

The only thing is though, isnt 2D for cars manufactured and or sold locally?
mine wasnt :(

Whilst that's true, i've seen a few imports and one R34 compete before. Not sure if was officially in the championship though - I think you might be ok for 2D - best to email John Bugh (automate_AT_bigpond.net.au) for clarification.
