CARMAKER GM Holden will move to subsidise fuel prices for its private customers for up to two years.
http://www.news.com.au/business/story/0,27753,24280999-31037,00.html
The company said today new Holden buyers before October 31 would have petrol or diesel prices capped at 99 cents a litre for 20,000 kilometres or two years, whichever came first.
The company would pick up the bill between the cap price and the retail price over that period.
Holden's executive director of sales and marketing Alan Batey said the fuel price cap would ease the pain of petrol and diesel prices.
"We will provide this cap across all segments to ensure the benefits are as widely available as possible, given that fuel prices impact all drivers regardless of the size of their car,'' Mr Batey said.
New Holden customers will be given a Holden 99c fuel cap debit card to purchase fuel for up to 20,000 kilometres.
In most cases, within 48 hours of a fuel purchase the customer's nominated bank account will be debited to the value of 99c a litre purchased.

Wow, thats a surprising move considering the financal state GM is in.
Given current fuel prices, your average V8 owner could well save $2000 or more over that 20000km period.
I can't help but think that money could be better spent on making the cars themselves more efficient or something along those lines. Just a thought...
Might help clear out current stock i suppose. Especially given hype on fuel prices lately. If i could get this on top of the mastercard rebate, and still get a decent / normal discount , hmmm....!

Sure adds up hey, I have used the Mastercard Rebate 4 times in 2 years ... that's $12,000 cash !!! ( ... on top of the fleet discounts )

Who would have thought given the price of 91ron fuel 2 months ago that it would have dropped to nearly .99cpl anyway in todays climate.I saw $1.02 after applying discount at Woolies/Caltex last night at Marayong....lots of winners now ;)

And yet the diesel buyers are still enjoying stupdily high prices for less refined fuel.
The free tube of arse lube you get with each diesel fill must ease the discomfort a little.

That's simply got to be a supply and demand issue .....are there any numbers as to how many lts of desiel are consumed as opposed to the unleaded stuff that us ls1ers use?
