Might be worth trying to get tickets to this.
-----------------------------------------------
For the first time in Australia, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond will present Top Gear Live, the most spectacular LIVE motoring theatre show in the universe from 5 – 8 February at Acer Arena, Sydney.
Top Gear Live features breath-taking stunts, amazing special effects and blockbusting driving sequences with some of the world's best precision drivers. This experience is one car enthusiasts won't forget.
Top Gear Live combines an action-packed 75-minute live version of the internationally acclaimed and multi-award-winning BBC TV series Top Gear (showing on SBS in Australia). Fans can join Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond with their irreverent approach to motoring and humour, awesome super cars, crazy stunts and the smell of burning rubber. Top Gear Live is set to take live theatre to a ground-breaking new level. Or crash attempting it.
"We've turned your motoring television show into the most spectacular motoring theatre show in the universe. We'll be taking all the best bits of Top Gear, and ambitiously attempting them live in our action arena." – Jeremy Clarkson.

Tickets may be a problem guys. The pre-sale tickets go on sale tomorrow and they are already sold out to the people who went on the waitlist before the event was announced. Bit hard to explain, but I've never seen a pre-sale sell out before it starts.
Anyway, if it's going to be that popular, I reckon they will have to do more shows.
Might have to camp out on the website when tickets go on sale to the general public. I'll post up the url and dates when I find them :D
Cheers,
Scott

Dave, Martin and any others that missed this. I originally posted this event as an FYI. Within 12 hours there was a list made and I had to make a snap decision yesterday morning when the pre sale started. The limit was 8 tickets and that was how many were on the list at the time. So I jumped in and grabbed what I could.
This all just sort of happened without any planning or anything in less than a day, so I'm really sorry that you guys missed out.
Why not try and get tickets for the Sunday 11am show anyway? We could meet up before and after the show and check out the other stuff (apparently there is some sort of display).
Cheers,
Scott

Bloody hell, have you guys seen the kit that comes with (I think) every Platinum ticket? Not sure if it's only for people who used the ACP Magazine code, or everyone, but according to what I've read, Platinum ticket holders get:
PLATINUM @ $120 =
Excellent seat at Top Gear Live
Access to Prestige & Performance Motor Show
Paddock Tour where you will see all the behind-the-scenes activity
Access to the VIP Enclosure
Two course meal and four complimentary drinks (Beer, Wine & Soft Drinks)
Refreshments served all day (Pastries, Cakes, Tea & Coffee)
The Big Book of Top Gear 2009 (Hardback)
Official Show Guide

Apologies if this gets in the way of the admin but hear are some shots from the show last night, I have footage of the performance itself but I will leave that for you to see for yourself. The photos are from the MPH Car Show that was part of the Top Gear Live package. It also included access to Classic/Vintage car show as well. Here are some of the shots I liked. With regards to the show it was most entertaining, not 'oh my god I fell off my seat because I creamed myself' good but well worth the journey. The whole package was v.good and our average seats turned out to be very very respectable in fact better than some of the more expensive seats to be honest.
Anyways here they are, enjoy :) Sorry about the quality and sizing on some, it was farking hard to get clear shots as it was quite busy and cramped for space. No excuse I know

An extremely late reply I know, but I havent had a chance to check in on TC for a while. Anyway, I went to the Earl's Court show and I have to say the live TG show was average and the actual motor show was disappointing. There were some great cars but the arrangement was pretty crap. Everything was thrown in haphazardly and just strewn about.
Next step is a live studio recording at the BBC. I was actually going for a job at the BBC but got offered a position with one of their rivals (Sky). I was kinda hoping for some tickets through contacts but that obviously didnt come to fruition. Now Im just gonna have to wait it out.
So you livving in London at the moment or just travelling through?

I'll admit too without spoiling it I was a little disappointed too but still worth the journey, I just didn't like all the theatrical bullshit. I would love to get to a live recording although I was told that the waiting list is quite long and then organsing it around work (I'd figure it out, at least I would try) so I have kinda given up on that idea for now.
No, not travelling and not living in London, I live up near Lincoln, I am working over here for the next 3 or so years.

Unfortunatly kyle is right, i wont be able to attend the top gear show. With our new work contract i work nearly all weekend every weekend and if i want time off which is not hard to do but it means being the boss if im not there i have to pay someone else to be there instead.

I'm designated driver and heading down this Saturday. What's it like for traffic, parking etc? Any other info would be appreciated. Not familiar with the area.
Just park in P1 enter the carpark as far left as possible so you get directed into the lower levels as its much much quicker to leave than the upper levels. Also pre pay your parking ticket before the show.
Traffic isnt an issue.
Thats it really

I was there last night. Dan you are too kind!! I want my 2 hours back!! Luckily I was in a box with booze and not bad food and I didnt pay, worst thing is I have to go again sunday night with a supplier.
Best thing was the chick in the live Hyundai add, tight red jump suit. The concrete is so smooth the cars slide without any effort ie. a front wheel drive car had rear slide at 40kmph/ maybe 50kmph no handbrake). The only car to have a real crack at smoking them up was the w 427 which was on the limiter most of the time it was on the floor.
More action at a skid pan day just our cars are cheaper! To say I was dissapointed would be an understatement.
And those that bag me for letting the cat out about it, you will thank me when you see it because you will at least be sitting there saying its not quite as bad as Darren said.
And steve from top gear australia must be getting paid a shit load to be made look like such a dickhead. He reminds me of ray off everyone loves raymond but no where near as funny.
LOL also if your late dont stress. There is 15mins of live ads before the show!

I went last night at the 8pm session. I enjoyed it but was a little disapointed, just didn't seem that anything really stood out and impressed me. Had a good time, but glad I only got the $120 tickets, not the $249 ones!
Well others have commented on it and maybe spoilt it for some but I dont really know what to expect so I am not expecting much.
Maybe others had GREAT expectations and thats why they are not happy, maybe it is shit.
Maybe average Jo who doesnt know much about cars will or would think its GREAT but who knows.
Im looking forward more importantly to seeing some mates I have not seen in a long time whilst seeing and hearing some nice cars, live!!

I think you hit the nail on the head, I went in with big expectations, maybe it didn't live up to that. Plus I had a hard day at work and had been up since 4am, that wouldn't help my mood!
Well I just got back from Top Gear live and after reading some other not so positive comments in this thread about the show I have to say....
FARK! You must have been expecting something truely out of this world to be dissapointed with the show.
My opinion and all the others that I was there with thought that it was really good.
I loved the Pyros and Flames added into just about everything.
The live adds were cool.
The Colender of Death was absolutly amazing  :yep:
The driving was really good and I loved the Car Soccer game.
The drumming was a bit sucky but the drummer was good.
Oh oh oh and the 3D AH 64-D Chopper with explosions whilst the Stig drove was friggen great...3D technology has come a long way :yep:
Now everyone is entitled to their opinion so I can see how people would be dissappoited... not.
LOL
Also a big thanks to Skat for organising the Tickets, was great to see Tigs, Skat, Chris, Tim, Scotty, Nick and Lachey

Simon,
Hang on a sec mate. You said you had to work and couldn't make it the day before the show.
No one came forward and wanted your ticket so we did what we thought was the right thing and tried to get something for it. Same goes with Kyle's ticket.
If you did have to work, you would be 120 out of pocket if we did nothing.
Bit unfair to phone me 15 minutes before the show from outside the venue saying you can all of a sudden make it. A phone call a lot earlier would have helped.
Sorry if you think we did the wrong thing and call me if you want to talk about it further.
Cheers,
Scott

I'm with Bomi ... I loved it, not really sure what more you could have expected but I had a ball and my little boy Lachie thought it was just about the best thing he has ever seen.
IMO money well spent ... had a great day out. Big thanks to Scat for scoring such great seats for us.

1 hour before the show Scat had the ticket and you weren't there ... no one had heard from you (besides the comment above, which seemed pretty clear cut) and we all decided the best course of action was to get whatever we could 1 hour out from the start of the show.
Major breakdown in communications and yet one more reason why less and less people have any interest in trying to organise these things for others.

Dave organised me a ticket and a lift on Sunday to the show. Our group thought it was pretty cool and worth the money and drive from newy to see it. The soccer was my favorite part of the show, I haven't laughed so hard in a while. Thanx Dave and Kris for the lift and company down and back...

I reckon it was pretty cool given the arena they were working in.
Whilst the twirling Ninja girl was very clever ... and the "drifting" ferrari's ...
I still reckon it was great and a good laugh.
Nice to catch up with Nick (for all 2 seconds ) as we both exited the car park and a good day had by "Team Newcastle".
Well worth the drive. :woot:

I went sunday night due to work and sun was better. The cage got 4 bikes in it. The cop car was a w 427 not an Aussie racing car like thurs, brought V8 utes on sun, didnt thurs, soccer was a lot better as the cars were already farked and last show they needed them so more biffo, thurs soccer was pretty lame, 3d chopper I still think was pretty lame.
I was secnd row right in front. Was better to watch the lower you were as everything lookedlike near misses. Even the Alfa stunt team were up at least 20kph on thurs show

Maybe you should try living in Darwin Justice,i would think about flying 4000ks each way to see something like this,we have jack shit chance of getting something like this on tv let alone live, thats the price we pay for paradise, not.

Very true, its subjective to what you have open to you in your town and what you have experienced hence probably why Darren didnt enjoy it. Daz could probably be out there driving in the show or the like. Either that or he has paid for his own private AH 64-D Chopper to chase him home in his Lambo :lmao:

 ... I wish mate, Mercedes AMG SL65 Black Series, don't think they are even available here, they'd be on the wrong side of $500K if they were.
Fantasy pure and simple ...

The plan is to have an AMG in the garage sooner rather than later, but it'll be one of the more affordable ones and it won't be for a while yet.

C'Mon Nick....End of financial year tax returns, never ending BAS...$500K shouldnt be a problem...
you need an E63 Nick. The standard SL65 was 510000 without onroads 3 years ago so the black would be a fair bit on top of that I think.

I dont know much about Mercs, but there is something I do know.
In 15 days of touring California/Nevada I saw some awesome cars on the roads. But one day, I was walking the strip in Vegas and I heard the most awesome sounding car ever. I turned around and was shocked to see a Merc similiar to the one in your avatar with some serious work done to it. It looked and sounded unbelievable!!!

Once you hear and drive in a Merc AMG there is no turning back. The CLK AMG convertible I drove around for a bit a couple of years ago made me a believer. That is my next car but dont know when. About $85k second hand now but not sure when.
