You will need a Wakefield License, $50 or a CAMS L2S License (about $100).
Here's a thought for some of you guys that will need a license, why not get a CAMS license instead, then you can go to some Oran Park and EC L2S days. All you have to do for this license is pay your $100.

I was just about to fill it out before I read this...
'Note: it is compulsory for all CAMS driver licence holders to be a member of a CAMS-affiliated car club'
Not a problem for the ARDC or HSVOC club members, but I'm farked :(

Giving Wakey a call now, stand by.....
Hi Guys
I just spoke with Troy (he can't get online atm) so he's asked me to post this up...
We have to quickly book this as dates are filling up fast.
The costs for hire are:
$3500 - Track hire fee
+$800 - Some insurance thing
+$550 - Ambo (only of we have over 20 cars)
Therefore final cost is variable depending on how many people we get, but it will be somewhere between $160 and $220 for the day.
This will be a private hire - you will get as much track time as you like.
The date is now WEDNESDAY THE 19th of NOVEMBER.
We would like to ask people to pay a $50 deposit to secure a spot...
Bank ... NAB
Account ... TrackChat
No ... 870675634
BSB ... 082201
We will give TrackChatters a head-start to pre-book, but I think we'll need to invite others to get the numbers, so please pay a deposit asap.
We'll extend an invitation to other forums in a day or so.
If we don't get the numbers within a week or so, we can't book the track (and you will get your deposit back).
thanks guys

Thanks for that Dunc.
I spoke to the track and they require a $500 payment, the person I spoke to, Susan I think was really nice and helpfull.
I'm really looking forward to getting out on Wakey again especialy after its been resurficed and I have big new brakes so Ill be going out to try and beat my 1.13 PB.
I have done a private day at Wakey before and its great to have the track to yourself, the most cars I ever saw on there with me was 6, speed off the streets can see a lot more.
So, please pay a $50 deposit as I have paid the $500 deposit out of my own hard earned and will not get it back if we are a no show :hide:

REGARDING TIMING: We tried that last time and it was PITA. There were a few people that wanted to run with passengers (and with timing you are not allowed). So we had to try and arrange a time window where people could go out with passengers - but it didn’t work. The timing people had to turn the timing on and off throughout the day etc etc. Plus it costs extra. I think with timing you absolutely have to have the ambo too (more $$). I will bring an infrared timing system, which people can borrow if they like :)

Hey gang
Last track day at Wakefield I was at, Jun Long Weekend, was a private day.
We got the timing through Wakefield and it was no problem.
We didn't run heats or sessions, it was just a full day, with a max # on the track at any time.
Passengers, no passengers it didn't matter, I have the timings of all my laps.
Have got another day booked in for early December, otherwise I'd come along.
As far as the new surface ..... bloody awsome !!!!

Are you sure about that? I just called Wakefield park and they told me the people who do their timing (LD Timing) still don’t allow passengers when the timing system in on.
In fact I think it is a requirement of the license used for the day.
Who at Wakefield Park did you deal with?

3. if i was to bring 2 cars for my self do i get charged twice or once?
1. The $160 ~ $220 does not include a wakefield license. If you don’t have one (or a CAMS license) then you will need to buy one on the day.
2. I called Wakefield last week (as above) and asked about the timing/passenger rules. They told me you CANNOT run passengers when the event is timed. As we wont be having timing, I believe the Track rule is you CAN run passengers - as long as they are also a signed up participant for the day - and even then it's supposed to be for instruction / training purposes only. Call the track if this isnt clear enough. This is all distinct from using your own personal timer, which you can do, and still run a passenger/instructor.
3. You can bring two cars for one driver yes. You pay for the driver entry, not the car(s).

How much extra do you think it would cost?
That will depend on the interest level.
Generally if there were say 5 people, then for around $200 you would get an instructor to share. (this is just a guage)
If we get enough interest, then I will get a confirmed cost.
Hope this helps...

Hey guys do you have a cut off date for entering this day, i can not commit to it fully at this stage but if things pan out right i would like to come. hopefully within the next week i will know.
Brett
Nah not really a cut off, as long as there is not 30 people on the day you could possibly rock up, pay, and drive!
That being said,
Once the number of drivers go's over 20 we have to have an Ambulance, thats another $500.
So 21 ppl and there is no real price bennifit from one more person, but 25 to 30 and there are more savings.
If that makes sense to all of you? :D
Sooooo, the limit is 30 but we would ultimately like there to be no less then 25 ppl.

Simmons actually sub-contract it out now, they supply the parts to another guy to fix - not sure of his details as i bought another rim 'spare wheel' so next time i smash one, ill have one handy. Funny thing is that the new rim was only a couple hundred more than the 'repaired rim'... go figure....:dunno:

So is it an additional $170 you want on top of the deposit?
Well we have $20 deposits and well run with 20 for now, a few other car forums have been envited and if it gets over 25 the price will be less.
But run with the the cost for 20, $165.
$3500 - Track hire fee
+$800 - Some insurance thing
+$550 - Ambo (only of we have over 20 cars)

$165.00 just paid.... should be a great day!
P.S. Buggered if i can work out your math though :dunno:
Assuming 20 cars so no need for an Ambo ...
$3,500 + $800 = $4,300 ... Divided by 20 cars = $215 each
$50 paid so $215 - $50 = $165 remaining
:D
It gets more expensive between 20 and 23 / 24 cars as we need to add the cost of an Ambulance, then after that it gets cheaper again as we are dividing a fixed cost by more cars.
Rest assured guys, there is no profit in this.

Man 20 cars for a private track day. You blokes are lucky. If only I could catch a tilt tray or semi for 3500km I would be there. Could drive too but the tyres would be dead by the time I would arrive.
I am surprised you dont have people banging on the door to let them in. Nice looking track too. Day off work for a track day with 20 cars only. Wonder what I would pick.
Good luck to those going.

Yeah thats cool but, theres always a but. That will increase the price a little bit as if we have over 20 drivers we need an Ambo which costs more, see earlier posts for exact price, but once we get to 25 plus I think the price will go back below what is is for 20 drivers.
FYI :D

What time are we kicking off?
Would you be open to a few guys from the Rcolt forum coming along? There are 5 going down on Monday. I haven't posted anything there yet. Let me know.
Best to PM Bomi as he has a handle on the numbers but i would hazard guess it should be ok if you definitely have 5 starters. The problem is we are on the cusp of the ambo cutoff, so one extra driver over 20 (or is it 21?) would incur another $550 ambo fee. But if you have 5 definites then it should be okay. 1 extra might be iffy.
What time are we kicking off?
Gates would open around 8am, with driving from 9am i think. Troy?

Yeah mate not a worry at all, but as Dunc said, 21 drivers means the ambo cost is there, 25 to 30 lowers the cost back down below 20 drivers.
The guys will have to pay now not on the day.

Not 100% sure mate ...
Scotty and I are both driving the same car, we have paid per driver i.e. $215 each. However we are both driving all day, it wouldn't be fair for us to only count as one car and pay half as much as everyone else. The cost is split per entrant and it's really only fair that anyone that wants to drive pays their share.
However ... if your old man wanted a short run at the end of the day and he signed up for the Wakefield licence, I wouldn't have a problem with that and wouldn't ask him to pay extra.
That's just me though ... might have to see what the powers that be think and let you know early next week.

Hi all,
thought I would put a meet point together for those heading down on Wednesday morning.
I intend on getting Nick up early so we can be at wakefiled for 8am.
We've found the best bet is to meet at the Mobil Servo Station at PHEASANTS NEST; basically this is about 40 mins south of Sydney on the M5
let's meet at PHEASANTS NEST Mobil, such that we can depart there by 6:30am. We should get to Marulan BP (to top up fuel) about 7:30, taking us to Wakefield Park for 8am.
If this is too early for some, thats cool, just meet us at Wakefield.

i just bought a GoPro (HIGHLY RECCOMENDED), gave it a run on friday and its a tough little bugger and has good quality video, and just for the rain forecast i chucked it in the pool with my sister and told her to swim around with it and had no leaks whats so ever,
illl be doing mixtures of video recording and taking pictures while its stuck to my ute so should hopefully catch some action.

I think there is fuel at the track but it might be race fuel and quite expensive... then again I could be wrong. Goulburn town centre is just a little over 8km up the road from the track with I believe only one place with 98, but not sure excatly where it is.

I suggest you newer guys PM Nick and or Scotty and get their mobile numbers, its great fun cruising down in a convoy.

no worries, might take a jerry can with 98, as i run 60lbs on the stock system, never had a worry on wot at 27kms left winding out a few gears but higher g's could be more of a concern,
also just so i dont drive there and get it wrong, any long sleeve and pants are fine? and as for shoes, are joggers, skate shoes ect all fine or do they have to cover the ankle a tad more?

Any regular shoes will be fine, and any long sleeve top and pants should be ok. They never actually check btw. If you want to be safe you might select something less flammable (ie. not those 99% synthetic tracky dacks).

Hey people.... for those driving down on Wednesday and have semi slicks on their cars I have a few questions.
Seeing that the weather is a little questionable:- http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN10061.shtml#ST
Are you drining down with the semi slicks on the car?
What are they like at speed on a wet/damp freeway?
Would it be better to drive down on normal road tyres and change them when at the track?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Bill

We always take them down and change them at the track ... they are bloody noisy on the freeway (does your head in after 2 hours) and I wouldn't want to be on them at 110 - 120 km/h if it suddenly started pouring.

As Nick says, if you have the opportunity to run std tyres down there do so; 1. the noise may drive you bonkers
2. you will wear the semi slick out - particularly if you have anything over 1deg camber :).
3. i know guys who use the semi slick on their road cars all day everyday, during rain and have no problems BUT you probably wouldn't want to hit a big puddle or two on a country road around a corner at 110 unless you were real experienced driver - fine for a nice draining race track, but State roads .... safer to run std tyres. 'Generally' they should be fine in the wet though

I drive on my semi slick's (R888) everywhere,I dont have a problem with them wet or dry, only trouble is the expense, only seem to get a couple thousand km's max out of them, which includes 4 or 5 track days a year.
Ill be trailering the car down,as they are way below legal tread depth,
hope it doesnt rain too much  or Ill have to put the fronts on the rear and put up with the vibrations for a few laps..
See you guys there, were leaving from the M5 King georges road onramp at 6ish..

As choppo said, most of the time you wouldn't have a worry, they have tread so they should be fine in the wet.
My concern would be hitting sanding water with worn semi slicks running lots of camber at high speed on the freeway ...
Hence we run down on street tyres and spend 15 mins changing everything over.

Another great day as allways thanks a lot to troy, nick and everyone else who was part of organizing today, thanks also to everyone who turned up making it a great day also.
We did get a few showers/drizzle on and off a few times during the day which made things interesting for most but hey its all fun.
It was good to meet a few more faces too, hi bill and dus and others, dont be upset if i dont remember your names as im about as good with names as i am at driving in the wet with racing tyres on as you all would have seen.
I seem to recall 1 lap having 5-6 offs in the rain and about 10 or so over 5 laps:drivin: .
Ill give a cheereo to the marshall for looking after me and telling me it would be a good idear to take it a little easier going into and out of the corners befor i get myself in trouble:lol: and to cut out on the smoke show:( .
Heres a couple of pics of my maloo post rain and off road driver training. Note the second pic with the spare on the rear due to a puncture on the way down.

Well what turbulent 48hrs! We arrived at Goulburn Tuesday arvo and immediately headed for a Soldiers Club rump steak! then ten bundy rums and drunken snooker. The Motel was a total dump btw, dont ever stay at the Alpine Motel on Sloane st (Goulburn) it's a total friggin shithole. Actually a shithole would have been warmer, quieter and less smelly.
Anyway that out of the way, off the to track on a drizzily Wednesday morning, oh how agreeable and pleasing. Yay. The weather was as confused as Tom Cruise at the Taxi Club. But thankfully we found several hours of dry track for heaps of fun and shennanigans. Btw Erik, sorry your rotor cracked so early (and that i forgot to bring the spare). Crap.
I cant believe how much dry track time we managed given the state of weather today. In the end it was only Belmore Bill, Aza and myself at he track at after 3pm.. i didnt manage anything spectacular, the GPS timer says a best of 1:09.0, some 1.2 seconds behind my PB. The track was a tad greasy too. Excuses hey.
Thanks to all the participants, and special thanks to Troy and Nick for dealing with the admin stuff. Thanks guys.

i had a great day, met a few new people, i was pushing my street tyres as hard as i could and come of turn 2 in the dry at about 90kms leaving big black marks and copped a cabin full of dirt and rocks but it was great, i come of 5 or 6 times all day and it didnt bother me the slightest as theres nothing to hit, you just slide of the tarmac into the dirt/grass, weather was good i reakon because i never realised how hot it actually gets int he cab, i was sweating from places i didnt even know had sweat glands!!!!
ill be attending the next private day if there is one at wakefield or just doing a speed of the streets day with a few mates that are interested in the near future to get some more practice as it was my first time.

Well... another fun day at the track...
We were lucky to see enough dry track to push times and the cars... plus enough wet track to prove to some of us to stick to the dry stuff...
Looking forward to seeing the pics and video...
I believe I achieved a PB of 1:12.6, though the drift box may be even indicating better times... we will see...
thanks to Dave for his Pit crewing and driving down to Goulburn to tinker with HIS car..

Well, my day was done by 10am due to a cracked front rotor :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: . In total, managed a grand total of 8 laps in anger, best of 1:10.7, which was totally shite & >2secs off pb. Felt like steering wheel was going to vibrate out of my hand with the rotor issue. Didn't help that early on there was sand right around the track on the racing line, i guess due to an oil down perhaps the previous day. Made it a bit slippery early on.
Did do two 4th gear only laps amongst those 9 laps: 1:12.5 & 1:12.1, just for Troy :stick: :D :waving: . Could definitely get close to a '10 if the car behaves.
When it was dry, looked to be perfect weather for quick laps. Hopefully next time can go smash that 1:07 with zero car issues.

Well the day for me started out OK, got up @ 5:30am  for the drive down, fed the pets... showered/dressed and took care of some bodily functions... 6am now and it started to go a little south. One of the little darlings decided to :puke: so had to clean it up and then stepped on the other cat which in turn bolted for the open back door. Spent the next 30min trying to catch the little bastard  Anyways, it’s now 6:30am and I was to meet up with Nick & Scotty @ Pheasant’s Nest @ 6:30    quick call and all is good.
Only other issue was a 15min stop cause of road works about 50 or so km from Goulburn, but managed to make up some time.
8:40am and finally at the track... looked a little greasy and with a slow drizzle, so went out on my road tyres. Holly hell, sand/saw dust/oil soak all over the track and right on the driving line!!!! 1 lap later back into the pits to put my racing rubber on... Not doing that again.
I think I ended up doing almost 50 laps, most of them at the end of the day(After 2pm)... after having to go into town to fuel up again. Tyres held up very well and gave them a good thrashing, had one minor off at turn 1, 3, 7 & 9 and as last time just can’t seem to get that bloody fish hook right.
With the water from the gods falling down from the sky... out went SR_boy... loved the drifting exhibition mate at lunch time m8, well done.
Aza thanks to the tips at the end of the day... what really surprised me was how much different the car is with another person in it. Couldn’t brake as hard, understeer at almost every corner and truly felt like the tyres were shot, but they were fine.
I had an absolute blast and loved the amount of “ontrack” time we had, was able to put a lot of names with forum ID’s. Erik, Dunc, Tim, Scotty, Dave, Aza and all the rest that I have forgotten it was a pleasure meeting you all... also thanks for the opportunity to participate gentlemen.
Final words... when is the next one people? :D
