The Sky's can do any Sun in Dec, 7th, 14th or 21st.
Bobbin head is fine or Fagan Park at Galston is big, or Lane cove river park has heaps of picnic areas you can book in advance
Rich, thanks for starting this thread mate, its a great idea.
I think it should be a family thing :yep:
Lets nail a date and then start a list.
Does this Bobbin head have a BBQ area etc.
Also I love the santa idea thats awesome, what do I get :D

Hang on a sec ... I hope I'm being nominated as a Santa because of the beard and not the other reason?
Something on the North side of Sydney would be good for us but travel is sorta irrelevant essentially so depending on when and where we'd be most keen to bring Iggle Piggle and Upsie Daisy along for a wee festivus.

Great idea!
I am unsure of our availability, however I recently went to a local fair at Fagan Park and its a pretty awesome place... it may be better suited for the longer travellers as you need a passport to get to the beaches.. ;-)

bobbin Head does have BBQ facilities, also many others along various picnic areas as you drive along the park road, not just down at the very bottom. I spent many many sundays there at family BBQs during the 70s and 80s!!
Fagan park is good too although I am not familiar with it.
Both parks have a fee at the gates? bobbin hd is $11 for cars unless you have a park pass.
I think the santa idea is fantastic!

I know lane cove river park very well, i grew up in west killara, spent most weekends bike riding through there and bushwalking, great days........
Heaps of picnic areas there.
But the only downside is most of the spots are on the riverbank, so that makes it a hectic constant watch vigil for those with ankle biters with an in - built water magnet as standard!!! there are some spots up away from the river.
lane cove river park is actually accessible from Ryde rd near M2, or the other side from lady Game drive Roseville/ Chatswood border.
So are we deciding bet Bobbin hd and lane cove?

Bobbin head has a huge fully fenced kid play area, excellent parking down side is there is limited bbq area,s .Heaps of room to picnic but if bbqing would prolly have to cook meat away from where you are sitting...not a biggy. We usually just take down chicken and salads from my mate at north turramurra shops. I dont care either way ...one's full of asains the other full of wogs.
I do think tho the ladies should all get into the festive spirit and wear santa's little helper outfits.http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.o-lingerie.com.au/Small-Size-Lingerie/Lingerie/2990-red.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.o-lingerie.com.au/Leg-Avenue/Christmas-Costumes-and-Dresses.html&h=150&w=110&sz=4&tbnid=Kq1Ws6Ja7FgJ::&tbnh=96&tbnw=70&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dchristmas%2Blingerie&hl=en&usg=__wLPQeeF5msCmvnicl3mTaomHv7c=&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=4&ct=image&cd=1Something like these will be fine

amoungst all the things iv got that weekend i now unfortunatly have to add a funeral to to the weekend so even if i wasnt working we'd still be unable to attend.
Shit Tim ... sorry to hear that mate, not what you want at this time of year ... well, not you want ever really.
No probs mate, understand 100%. Considering the distance you need to travel I would have been understanding if you'd simply said "I can't be stuffed, it's too far".
I'll catch you at something next year no doubt ...
So those that are attending:
If i can get free tickets for everyone how would we feel about moving it to oran park?

Whats funny is there was nothing in the work diary for this weekend originally but its started to add up now, we have the first harness racing meeting of the new season on saturday night and we also have the opening of the new track at dubbo city speedway, we do the filming of the harness racing and we also do the audio at the speedway events not to mention others odd jobs that have popped up and now unfortunatly a funeral:( .
All this stuff though is on saturday so i still have sunday free, but to get to sydney in time for the gathering we will have to get the kids up and go by 5am then turn around and drive home, we were planning on coming down on the sat and staying the night originally.

Thanks very much to Nick, Buffy and the boys for opening their house up for this occasion.
Great to put some faces to names.
Buffy I have actually smuggled some of the potato bake away with me and the lab technicians will have the secret ingredients for me in 24 hours so your secret is no longer safe.
That little bit of rain we got actually dumped hail on the F3. It was piled up on the side of the road as we drove through.
Thanks again...and Merry Christmas.

Thanks for making the trip guys, neither of you are exactly "up the road" so it's great that you put the effort in to come along. Great to see you again Phil and great to meet you Peter ... the boys had a ball too so thanks for bringing the kids.
The final turnout was HSVRedSled, Bok1, Dan@DMS, Scotty (and his better half Nicole), BOMI + Nicks and Buffy. The kids had a swim and played some soccer ... the boys had a good chat around the BBQ with a few beers and then we all stuffed ourselves silly.
Can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday !!!
Thanks again guys, have a great Christmas and hopefully we can all do it again in the new year.
