some of you would probably already know but the ute is getting boosted

so far we have pretty much all the parts required to do the job with only a few flanges left to get laser cut

this is what is going on

2x garrett 450hp ball bearing turbos
60lb siemans injectors
2x bosch fuel pumps
custom surge tank
tial BOV
Turbosmart Eboost 2
PLX AFR meter
custom PWR intercooler
stock LS2 camshaft (thanks Dave!!)

here are a couple of pics, i have some more pics of the test fitting of the cooler etc on the cam at home,

Some nice kit you have there Dale. What sort of numbers you expecting with the TT?? Just out of curiousity, how does this comare with the GenTT Kits??

sounds awesome, TT kits are becoming very popular now :)

Going by the size of those turbos ... BIG ONES !!!

Another boosted before Sonny, poor guy needs a holiday so he can finish his car ... or should I say so he can start his car.

i dont want to put a number on it as if it dosent make it i will be dissapointed, but the sizing of the turbos will do over 500rwhp pretty easily and still have bugger all lag on them,
the Gen-tt are a budget kit that are working well, i went the the garrett turbos for the ball bearing cores and more airflow, i also went with the PWR cooler for better cooling etc,

highlander,
no kit here, its all being custom made by use for my car, we have not brought 1 pipe or anything like that, we are making the lot!!

Nick,
yes the comp covers are the same size as yours, the wheels are obusally smaller in the front and rear and the rear housing is a lot smaller than yours and internal wastegate but they are very nice turbos, we have made 350hp at the tyres out of 1.3L starlet engines with these exact turbos.

its still not on there yet, im struggling to find time to do it, fuel system was suppose to be in a month back, all i have done so far is mount the eboost 2, mount the afr meter and move the battery to the back!!

No worries Dale, not trying to shoehorn you into a corner with a number, just out of plain curiousity sake. The REAL Question: Will you be able to kill the Coupe with this setup?? :toetap::toetap:

10sec_rx7
24-11-2006, 03:15 PM
hahaha the coupe will actually hook up... i wont!! LOL thats the fun of it!!

been a year or 2 since i had a street car with 500rwhp so im looking foward to it again! altho the last one was about 600kg lighter...

What sort of numbers you expecting with the TT??

Ryan, he'll make as much as he wants to as it's capable of more than would be safe with the engine. CHE have a number of customers dyno sheets along the vertical face of the reception area counter, all in order (I'm #2). I suspect the power Dale'll tune it for will make me #3, and I'm sure he wont be happy with being #2 :)

BTW, I've seen these little turbo's.... there not much smaller than mine, but he's got two!!!

Thanks for rubbing it in nick .. perhaps by the time i do my car turbo's may be history and something better comes out ? ,good work there dale, will keep a close eye on this one !

I notice you mentioned a stock LS2 cam for the project. What are the numbers for a LS2 cam and are they easy to get a hold of (I guess so if you do cam upgrades for LS2s)

Nice work BTW, what a weapon - I am more than a little green:)

Goddam Dale, even if you never put all the parts together, the individual parts look bloody sensational.

Keep us posted on the progress, looking forward to it. :)

AL, thats the plan, chris 355 turbo ute is asking to be number 2!! but the RX3 is coming back soonish so that will put a end to all our plans of being number 1 :(

sonny, im sure you will get to have a drive of this one!

ssute01, i do have them somewhere, they are 116lsa i know that much off the top of my head

tiger, more pics will come as we finish the intercooler and the piping up, week before chrissy is the sceduled install week!!

Azza, putting that in the apprectices ute :)

the time has come!

it starts on saturday with the sump coming off for pete to weld the fittings for the oil drains,
intercooler getting mounted up and pipes welded to cooler so they clear the fog lights!
cam shaft swapped over for a sonny special,
and fuel system getting installed,

then through next week all the pipes get made!! hopefully by friday it will be on the dyno (it has to be on the dyno by friday as friday night the workshop is getting painted and makes it a no go zone for a few days )

everything has arrived finally, i just have to machine a few little parts on the weekend for the turbo pipes.

definatly give the new apprectice a intro into what it takes to do something like this,

Make sure you get plenty of pics of this build. Sounds like its going to be one tough ute.

Cheers,

I saw Dale run the ute up on friday... sounds awesome. Looks like you managed to extract >30rwhp or so from when I was there. Great work.

24-12-2006, 12:52 PM
Nick,

will go 400kw, i was planning to put more in it on friday but we just ran out of time ( i literally spent about 1 hour on the dyno with it)
timing is still very very low and it is still very rich so i know there is a lot more to come!! just need more time! we have just painted the floors in the workshop so no access to the dyno till after new year,

erik,
i still havent heard it from outside the car!!! ill have to get dave to take it for a drive!

there are a few people i must thank for all the hard work they put in over the last week,

Dave for making the exhaust system and connecting pipes etc,
Chris for the awesome job on the cooler pipes and everything in general
Martin ((uncle) he was there till 4am on friday morning helping out)
Josh (JGC085) for supplying the beer!
Pete for the awesome surge tank
Clayton (our Piston engine builder, he was there till 5am on friday morning!!)
Steve (our Rotor engine builder, he was also there till 5am on friday morning!)
Allan for all the moral support, you need a cam Al!!
and my GirlFriend for putting up with me for the last few weeks!!

Mate, congrats on an awesome effort, now don't be greedy with that stock bottom end!!!!

You and Dave are lucky to have a great bunch of mates / employee's / customers, it's been a pleasure to meet them...... but you forgot to mention the bloke whose cam you stole!!!!!..... and maybe I do need one.... one day I 'might' get bored with 502.5 rwHp.... but it wont be soon!!!!

Enjoy your boosted gadget, they're a loverly thing!!!!

i would be interested to see the differences between the stock and the turbo cam, if my car is anything to go by your peak power will move up a little
