Hey Guys, im new here, and i have also just purchased myself a new car, which i intend in doing a fair bit of track work with :)

The Car i chose was a 04' Mazda MX5 SE, for those of you that dont know, it is a factory 1.8L Turbo 6spd, with the lot, LSD, Leather, 6 stacker, blah, blah, blah....

The Car i also own, and i am trying to sell, is a 99' Honda Integra Type R, which has proven to be ultra reliable and fast! (wanted to move to a rwd car so i decided to buy the mx5)

Old Vs New (possibly to of the best in there classes - RWD Turbo vs FWD NA)

(will update with more proper pics)

Modifications:
HID's
MAzdaSpeed Side Skirts
MazdaSpeed Pedals
Front Mount Intercooler
15X8 Sportmax Rims - Bridgestone Adrenalins 205/50R15

To Do List:
Power Upgrade - Exhaust, Intake, Injectors, ECU + Tune - Getting done next week = 165rwkw
Coilovers
Front & Rear Sway bars
Front & Rear Strut Braces
Brake Upgrade (might just do fronts to wilwood and do a decent pad and rotor setup at the rear, car has abs, so shouldnt be a problem)
Hardtop
Rollbar
Race Seat
Harness

Hopefully car will be ready before Start Of 09' NSW Super Sprints... so i can get it all setup nicely :) and go for my aim of 1:06s at wakefield park, and under 1:18 at OP GP (hopefully they keep Oran Park for a bit Longer)

I had the MX5 at Oran Park south the other day just for fun, and managed a 53.6 stock, bar the 15X8 rims, which actually probably set me back if anything due to the stretched tyres making me slide everywhere :( but the car felt really good, and i can tell it has A LOT of potential

Cheers Dave

hey mate, i am fairly sure i remember you, the red monaro ?

i remember you leaving me for dead down Oran Park GP straight once :P

That thing is a weapon, and you mast be a great driver to keep it in form, and post the times that you do!!

But as for my little Honda it only has 122kw :P

dont worry about the power its what you do with it that counts but unfortnuatly no matter how well you made a comodore or falcon handle you would still need a gut load of power to be quick.

Nice rides you have there Dave... I would think the type R would be a tad quicker than the MX5(Depending on the track that is)... but hey what do I know. :lmao:

At the moment the integra is faster, but once i get my exhaust, intake, injectors and ecu (intercooler already done) done next week the car will have the same power to weight ratio as a Lotus Exige S, Even a M3... :)

Once i get the suspension and handling sorted, it is going to be insane!

lol, nice pic... i remember that day.. scary the amount of power that car has!! haha

as for classes, i believe i will be in 3D? as its a 1.8Turbo... a non turbo mx5 in supersprints will sit u in 2b if it is midly modded... they are farkn awesome cars to track, stock or not!

I am bored so i thought i would update my thread :P

hahaha

well i pick my car up this saturday, hopefully will be looking at 165-170rwkw :D

also i am working on getting a brown davis roll bar (cams approved) so hopefully that will be on the car

just to tease you guys, one of my next mods along with some coilovers will be this:
http://www.nfspetsupplies.com/cfhardtop2.jpg
A fibreglass hardtop with carbon fibre outer shell with a perspex rear window weighing 11kg (apposed to stock about 25-30kg - plus i will be removing soft top another 25kg) so that is going to be a massive weight reduction and not to mention looking HOT!

:D

mmm need to get some coilovers! lol

Dave that sounds like a great gain with the MX5, who does the tuning for those, and do you run a standard ECU?

Did you sell the Type R?

MX5 MANIA is tuning the mx5 with adaptronic ecu, with just intake, exhaust (turbo back), bored out injectors and a intercooler. it is awesome gain considering they only have 121kw or so at the flyhweel stock :O (mx5mania has a race se, which is prod sport champion - does a best of 1:02 at wakefield park apparently! insane)

As for the type r, it is still sitting in my driveway :( lol, i have been driving it wile the mx5 is away, i really want to put the vtec motor in the mx5 and whack the turbo on it! :P but i cant, as i need the money from the integra but the current state of the economy is no help sadly :'(

Nice car there Dave... I was amazed at the pace of some of the MX5 turbos running in prod sports at the Bathurst FOSC event at easter. I have had a look at mx5 mania site and they have some nice kit there. I will be watching your build mate as I want to build the daughter a track car so she can race in prod sports in SA. Good luck with it, it will be a track weapon when its finished

cheers

hey guys, just a update.. had the bits fitted!

The car is a completely new machine!!! made 162rwkw on the dyno on friday (when it was 40'c in the dyno room :o) and it pulls like nothing else with the dyno reading 650Nm :yahoo: LOL (dont know how accurate that is, but sure feels like it! lol) but it pulls VERY HARD! alot more then i expected!

it has the adaptronic ecu, i have been playing with it myself a little bit.. it has EVERYTHING! launch control, traction control, variable boost for each gear! its just amazing!

i love the launch control though :P hehehe

cant wait to get some suspension sorted, i am going to leave my suspension setup to heasmens :) only the best :D

for launch control you select revs that you want car to hold at (in my case 4,200Rpm) and when u accelerate bellow (woteva lowest selected speed you choose) when not moving car will maintain those revs and when you release the clutch you slowly accelerate and it just launches.. :D it is cool :P haha
