View Full Version : GROUP BUY: Purchase of MINI ramps for lifting lowered cars.
DaveHAT

I bought a set of these some time ago when I finally got the shits with not being able to get a trolley jack under my lowered VT.
http://www.oz8.org/gallery/albums/NickS/ramps.sized.jpg
Following discussions with some of the other HATS ... we thought a group buy on these might benefit our members.
They're light weight but seriously strong ... enough to withstand the weight of a 25ft caravan or a 2tonne Commodore.
Bloody handy for getting the vehicle high enough off the ground to get a "proper" trolley jack under it or for routine servicing without the need for heavy metal car ramps.
http://www.oz8.org/gallery/albums/NickS/ramps_2.sized.jpg
ALL FOR THE MASSIVE SUM OF $45 !!!!
If we can get a group purchase of 10 they're prepared to knock the price down.
Anyway ... if anyone wants a set consider the price to be $45 + postage but as said ... if we can get 10 E.O.I. it'll be cheaper.

POST ANY INTEREST HERE GUYS AND GALS.

High enough to get a 2 tonne trolley jack under the cross member of a car fitted with superlows.
I'll measure them tomorrow. :poolaunch:

Dave
Good call.
1 Pair please.
I have many jacks and many sets of steel ramps however, Pete's Convertible Astra for one won't get off the ground with any of these (guards hit the ramps before the tyres)
Sold our drive on hoist as I ended up fixing everyone's cars except mine.:hmmm:
Cheers

 :D
Additional to this:
Length = 53cm
Height at highest point = 12cm (doesn't sound like much but add in tyre height + some and you get enough room to remove the sump bash plate easily + room to work)
Width = 23cm (approx)

A second benefit from these.... They also stop your car pretty quick if you leave them under the wheel when you try to drive off (Nick @ Wakefield ;) )
Sorry couldn't resist myself!

Wow ... a little bit-o-interest. :bravo:
I'll let this run for another week until next friday & see if there's any more interest.
At this stage and based on the numbers thus far ... the price should come down to approx. $38.50 per set + postage.

Not coming to Darwin. I would be in but the cost of postage would be as much as the ramps if not more. They look great and way better than the piece of wood I use now. What are people doing with postage as these are not small

OK ... FINAL DETAILS.
PRICE PER SET OF RAMPS = $37
Please add the estimated Postage costs as per PMs unless you intend to pick them up in person.
Deposit/payment details:
BSB: 082201
A/c: 870675634
A/c Name: TrackChat.
Payment reference: (username) miniramps x how many you ordered.
(i.e. DaveHAT miniramps x 1)
Please post in this thread when your payment (incl. postage) has been made. :)
PLEASE NOTE:
The order should be placed on Friday the 12th of December so please ensure your payment has been made by Thursday the 11th of December.
I hope 9 working days is enough time for 32 people to get their payments in. :toetap:
NOW FOR THE HARD BIT ... :faint:
Sorry to sound militant about this but ... if payment isn't receive by ALL those who've indicated interest by the dates requested (remembering that the price is based on a purchase of 32 sets) the price will go up which effects EVERYBODY.
I'll keep this thread updated with details on the payments received and confirm the total number of ramps that will be ordered (incl final price if people pull out)
If people pull out which leads to a price increase ... we may have to ask for additional payments to cover any short falls later on.
By my read ... this is how it stands today:
1. Curry x 1 set
2. SavHAT x 1 set
3. FartHAT x 1 set

OK punters ... the order has arrived.
I should be collecting the ramps over the weekend (visitors and kids permitting).
Postage will START to happen next week but please be patient. Shitty time of the year and other personal commitments. :)
Re: receipts, a little difficult. The supplier will be giving me ONE receipt for the purchase of 33 ramps, not 33 individual receipts.
If people want a receipt, it'll be a hand written receipt most likely.
Obviously if there's any problems with them, (which I doubt seeing as they're solid moulded plastic) let me know and I'll have them returned.

They look great.
The base looks a bit slippery tho, i may have to put a bit of rubber or something underneath.
The plastic seems a bit hard and looks like it may try to move the ramp forward if the floor is a bit shiny.
Anyone had a chance to use them yet?

Just about the slippage thing, I stick on a piece of rubber on the bottom of my current ramps. Just some reinforced rubber strips from clarks rubber and some good glue. Works great, easy to do and wont slip even on pit bay floors. Check the bottom of the ramps. Gives a extra bit of height too. I know the wood is not the best but it works fine as you can see I have put rubber stips on them to stop the slippage.

Good to hear they're arriving as hoped.
I've personally used mine on polished concrete before ... no issues to mention.
As you say ... some rubber on the bottom would be a good idea.
Bare in mind that the original intended use for these ramps is to level caravans parked on uneven ground. Polished concrete applications probably weren't a consideration.

Thanks for all the effort you have gone to Dave.
I'll give them a work out shortly with an oil change coming up soon.

Good to see they're arriving as intended.
I scored these from the local JAYCO dealer who got them from
Try the nearest caravan centre that sells caravan accessories would be the best bet.

I used mine on monday morning when i had to remove my sump.
I used them on my garage floor which is smooth concrete, 1 side was fine but the other slipped a little but this could have been the result of a few things.
1. dirty floor.
2. uneven placement with distance to tyre.
3. we were pushing the car up by hand meaning we had to get a run up to climb up them, i beleive if i was able to idle up the ramps they would have been fine.
The ramps were the perfect height for me to get my jack under the front end with out hitting the front bar:yep: .

I have already put 2 rubber strips on each one. It did slide on my concrete at home on one side on my first test.
There is photos of my other ramps with the plastic strips installed. 2 minute job and about $5 worth of rubber and glue. Most likely you would need this set up at the pits at the tracks anyway as that concrete is very smooth and polished.

That sucks bit time. Been there done that except it was my 30cm high ramps. Both side skirts cracked and the back wheels up in the air. Nasty. Just lucky I had the BMR bracing under the car as this is what the ramps landed on. Would of been very very messy otherwise. Two cracked side skirts but ironicially I had ordered a set of the GTO ones anyway.
As I put when I posted my error on ls? I mentioned it is good idea to get a guide. I did not get photos but it was nasty.

I've had issues with my current plastic ramps sliding (not the mini ramps), halfway up and shoots forward and car drops.
It's been same problem with both houses, this one is worse. The floor is painted with vinyl flakes and a clear coat topping.
Been using old floor rugs with a rubber backing that has seemed to help a lot.

This is the rubber I put under the ramps. Works a treat and you only loose add 2mm if that from the height.

What better way to make glue stick real good. Put the weight of a car on it.

The clearance photo. My car is not overly low but there is stacks of room even on the second teir of the ramp.

I got these rigged up the way I wanted and they work great. Plenty of room under the car to reach under. Good clearance. Clutch did not like it much getting up there but that is why you have a touch clutch.
The tyres look a bit hanging off but they are wide buggers so there is plenty on there still. I will get a set of the bigger 4x4 ones to be a bit safer for next time. Ignor the mess. Sliding around on cardboard is better than cement

Next time I will use a ruler. It is about 25cm clearance at the front so plenty to get your hands in there for exhaust changes etc.

i used mine again today, for some reason the passanger side one slips a little even after puting some rubber under them, whats funny is that the drivers one has never moved at all either times iv used them.
They work wonders for me with the ve, i drive the front up on the ramps and it gives me the perfect clearence for my trolley jack to slip under.

Where did you put the rubber and what sort. I have used mine a few times and they have not budged. I used 6mm reinforced rubber and it works good. Would depend on the surface. I will bring them to the next track day to see how they go on the very shiney floors

They worked fine for a while, until my dad drove of the side of one and cracked it. It still works fine though.

Don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I had an issue with my metal ramps slipping on my polished concrete shed floor. To combat this I bolted a couple of old cargo straps to the front of them (where the ramp meets the floor) that is long enough to go under the wheels at the other end of the car. Lay them out on the floor and drive onto them just before you contact the ramp and they cant slip while the weight of the car has the strap pinned to the floor. Old seatbelts may also do the trick.
I don't have a pic as I got rid of these ramps some time ago. So far I haven't had an issue with these little ramps, they are a great addition to my garage...

A lot of caravan/camping accessory stores have these. I've also seen them on http://www.racerindustries.com.au
I've been trying to find the ones that have like a 'valley' in the middle. They're not a ramp as such, but more like a 'chock' that you drive onto. Saves using the handbrake on slight inclines.

There is plenty aroudn the place. As mentioned check RV or caravan web sites and have a look on ebay as plenty of carvan companies advertise on there.
Those chocks were on ebay too.
The ramps as per the ones on the group buy are ont here too.
