Good video mate, it looked pretty loose to well after the 60" mark. Your not wrong about running faster cars, i ran a 7.9@179mph car heads up in qualifying and felt like i was driving a Hyundai.

Thanks saj, any suggestions on getting it to hook up better?? i have gone a 28 by 9 inch slick cant fit any bigger under there i think?? got tassie nats down here this week end two day event hope all goes well would be nice not to be dealing with drive shafts and air bags lol i am still laughing at that one. going to try a 26 inch slick to get it back up in the revs really need to change diff gears to 3.9 instead of 3.7 for the 28 inch slick, time will tell with a 130mph it should IF hooks up get into a low 10 as i was only crossing the line at 5800rpm..

saj
13-01-2009, 10:01 AM
I run a 26x10 MT slick at 10 psi and at 132 mph it crosses the line at 7000rpm with 3.9 gears. I see you did a 1.53 60" which is getting close to where you want. My best 60" is only 1.49 so i need to work out how get of the line better as well. I checked how far my car was squatting then wheel aligned the rear at that height for 0 degrees camber and 0 tow at launch height to get the maximum tyre on the track leaving the line as when i wheel aligned it at its normal ride height it was rolling onto the inner edge of the tyre and reducing its foot print on launch.

saj
13-01-2009, 10:34 AM
Looking at our cars side by side it looks like yours is rolling over on the tyre more.

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g24/saj_01/20081226-AM1A4139.jpg

The other thing i did was spaced up the bump stops 2cm, if you go to a kart shop and get the 2cm high polyurethane seat mount spacers they fit perfectly under the bottom bump stop rubber.
All this is new to me as well so I'm just trying different shit to see if it works, some seems to and some doesn't. :)

your on the money saj, craigs tyre pressure is way to low, i reckon its at about 8-10psi in that photo, low pressure wont do any drag racer any favours.

rule of thumb, start with ridiculous pressure, about 19psi (full slick) and work your way down in 1/2 psi increments, until optimum traction is achieved this is for cars 3000lbs and heavier using under 30" diameter slick.

if you dont have 90/10's yet, i suggest to get some with extra heavy duty springs which are also heavily energised.

Get that front end up!!!!

CRAIG 408

Yer for sure on the roll over theory saj do you think i would fit a 26/10 under mine if it has 28/9 on it now??

CRAIG 408

Have fitted the spacers 18mil each side see how we go with that SAL got a couple of extras but see how she behaves....

saj

Yer for sure on the roll over theory saj do you think i would fit a 26/10 under mine if it has 28/9 on it now??

I haven't tried them on a sedan but i cant get a 28x10 under the rear of mine but the 26x10 on a 15x10 rim fits without rubbing with rolled guards.
The part # for the tyre i run is 3053, all the measurements are here http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.php?item=ETDrag
Trying to read the tyre from your video it looks like a Hoosier and i'm guessing it part # 18140 from https://www.hoosiertire.com/Drtire.htm
If that's the case the difference in sidewall width is 13mm and that where it will rub if anywhere. If you look at part # 18131 on that Hoosier site there 26x10 is narrower in the sidewall than there 28x9 so that may be an option.

CRAIG 408
15-01-2009, 06:06 PM
Awesome thanks saj will look into it have got a set of 26 8.5 for this week end dont think it will be much good but will see with mph were i am at.. might be easier to change diff gears and leave the 28/9 under her see how we go hoping not to be fixing drive shafts this week end over those bloody things surely holden could of built them standard to suit our application lol.....

Backwards saj best of a 10.82, actually three of them then i ran out of gas, must of had a leek some were and could not hear it due to having the pipes off and other cars around when it was parked so ended up running her n/a for the rest of the day, ran consistant 11.3x all day i got knocked out in the semis by a guy that did a 10.23 on a 10.20 dial in with a .420 reaction (tassie lights are a .400 perfect light) so was pretty hard to beet lol.. least that prooved to some that i was running a genuine 75hp gas..best n/a run is an 11.0 but with the ratios the car is running at the minute 11.3 is pretty good, bit over it at the minute might just put her back in street stance for a few months whilest i move house joy joy NOT!!! or maybe i should just throw a 150 pill in her and that will hopefully sort everything out including my undies i reckon.. any ways thanks for checking up a 10.3 for you at 125 mph with the breaks on that is just mind blowing well done to you...

Craig , dont be sad with a 10.82,that is an awsome time, only a couple of years ago this was almost unheard of from a street car,.400 is the reaction time in darwin too , i thought this was standard accros australia, chucking more gas is not always the best option , we tryed that a few times and went backwards, keep up the good work.
Cheers

Craig, how was it leaving the line, any better and how did it go MPH wise? They have run .000 as a perfect light here for years, i think because its easier for the crowd to understand. I've been at that point of being over it heaps of times but after a few days start thinking what i can do to go faster and then get keen again. :)
11.0 na is nothing to sneeze at, remember mine weighs 1546 kgs so yours is probably a hell of lot heavier.

It went backwards saj with the 26 inch slicks i did a best of 10.840 with a 1.668 60 with 130.31 mph another interesting fact is that i was in the 1.6xx 60 fts with out the gas running 11.3xx, so compared to meet before with the 28 inch slicks i lost mph lost 60 ft aswell as lost time from the 10.7, does not make sence really with the ratios i am running it should definately of picked up ?? think alot of it is in the rear end there is another guy here who runs consistant 1.4xxx 60ft for a slower et and mph?? after watching a few vids and seeing some photos he is not squating any were near were mine does, thinking i may be going to far as you suggested with your pic against mine..Also looking at girshs (ss346) calais off the line he is not down as far as mine either..that might be the next port of call aswell as put her on a diet dont think the subs and boxes are probably helping , will go weigh it this week for interest sake, they say every 100kg is probably a 10th dont know if thats true but with mine probably pushing 1900kg could not help lol..

That was exactly what happend to my old HJ Monaro, tore the shit out of the bellhousing, destroyed the clutch... but mine was due to a bolt that ground the flywheel centre out and weakend it until it just went... BANG!!!

Glad to see that there was not much other damage.

Found this one rating over 1000hp they claim, have sent a few questions off about this as well as a few others dont want to risk this mishap again, next time i might not be lucky enough to keep my feet!!!!!!!have had a look at the log run of when i ran the 10.65 @132mph it turns out it was slower from 160 to 200 n/a than it was on the street (private road) by quite a bit turns out that the gas did not work after approximately the 40ft mark?? have found a few errors in the wiring as well as the bottle pressures. so am over all pretty stoked with the time considering it has 6 degrees less timimg as well as extra fuel with no gas, wish i had got a n/a run in with it on the n/a tune rather the gas tune with out gas..next time i guess, only problem being that we dont have meets again until september might have to hop on the boat and come to the big island, cheers.

Thats for sure rob it would need to be some one who has an interest/love for the sport rather than trying to screw every dollar out of it instantly with out puting anything in to it, i think with the rite management the rite owner/money aswell as maintenance it could be a rewarding investment, i think the biggest problem is the price for one aswell as the financial uncertainty, which makes people dubious of big risk investments..fingers crossed something happens but at 600k i am not holding my breath especially with it being on a restricted title, not much else can be done in the off months to make it viable whilest there is no racing.......maybe you should empty your ash tray rob and buy the place...

Hey guys just a bit of an update i have fitted a nos atomiser plate looks like a pretty good bit of gear and with the 75 hp jet s made 524 rwhp with the dino not having a correction, it was worked out from alot of the cars that run on it often it was down about 10% due to the heat sink in the room, so overall i was pretty happy with that!Have not had chance to have a run to get that 10.65 n/a time knocked over before the gas is turned on..Looks like our track has survived and we have a meet planned for the 1 of november so hanging out for that.. here are a couple of pics of the new gas plate cheers....

Hey guys just an up date had our first run for the year today and i had a ball!! after dropping the exhaust yesterday ready for today found a colapsed and there for pretty much blocked cat, i was worried about the tune being off dew to it, so did a couple of n/a runs watching/logging the afr and everything looked great, of course in typical tas drag way style the lights and the timing gear was not working...they ended up sorting the timing gear and lights out so we through a 50 hp shot in her heap of wheel spin and a 10.9 at ?? mph as the printer was not working, any way thought it was good enough excuse for a 75hp shot when i heard the timing gear lights and printer were all working..(unbelievable) It was a stinking hot day on a very poor track (as it has not had a car down it or any maintenance in at a guess i would say close to 12 months) but still managed to run a 10.68 @ 138.42mph off a 1.619 60ft with a second to top change that sent me straight at the wall lol managed to get her to the line with a mph i am very happy with as i new she had more in her and therefor more to come with that mph on a cooler day and better track. Also picked up two trophies for fastest n/a over 5 litre and one for fastest force inducted so over all i am stoked, will get some pics up asap...big thanks to steve for looking over the log files i took to make sure all was still aok with the tune especially on a sunday ..cheers.

I hope to get over there again soon and hear it in the flesh, last time we stayed in rockingham? was a beautiful place and loved eating/drinking at the pink pig, i think thats what it was called great feed thats for sure! looking like a cage this week bit late i know, but with all the interior out to fit the cage thinking i might leave it out for the next meet (14/11) throw a 150 shot in with a run on the dino to double check and pray they have the track sorted, after watching the footage the mrs took even the comentator was stressing at the wall viewing, all in good fun until connection i say.. thanks again.

LOL yer any one would think TASSIE was a bit backwards... any way it was just a short break in transmission, the lights and timers were soon fixed, hopefuly a bit more work will go in to the track for the 14/11 for round 1, the supercharged outlaws are running as well so a track like last week end will not be to popular thats for sure, especially with there grunt.
