They did say they were only going to build a maximum of 427, but I think the global financial crisis:news: put a halt to that .

like all HSV's - and all cars i guess, they are merely limited to the number they can sell..

W427 production to cease on 30 June THIS YEAR!!

Saw the internal memo from holden to HSV dealers (not like CSP's memo). Production to cease on 30 June regardless of how many have been sold. Currently there ware 140 confirmed and approved orders, Holden estimate 146 will be built and then NO MORE. There definately wont be 200 as previously released. Fits in with previously release info on the available engines....

I suppose that thing will be quite a collectors item down the track. I thought they were supposed to make 427 of them?

Bit of a shame. They are a nice car but only if they were 120k they would of been more viable. It is not all the ecomomic gloom that is to blame I recon. They were simply overpriced and having a 307 VEGTS on the front of the motor mag with a 7lt engine in it saying this is the next 427, all the harrop, walkinshaw. CSV converted to ls7 427 did not help and for 50k less for virtually the same car bar a spoiler or two, slightly bigger bits here, slightly adjusted here and there. Sure ADRs, development etc etc costs but with only 140 odd sold they would of barly made money anyway condsidering they were planning 427. They did this to themselves but asking too much. This will make them hard to pick up second hand now for a decent price over the next 2 or 3 years. They will plummit in value soon enough just like all the GTS and low volume cars from HSV before them. Shame they dont have spares made that will sell cheaper.
For 110 to a max 120k I would of seriously considered it but 150k I know other cars I would prefer.
Good luck to those with them and send me a PM in a few years and I might buy it off you.

I hope and pray for sh1ts sake that history does not repeat.

The GTS R had a RRP of $76. Nothing could compete. A fair bit of dough for the mid 1990's. Now you would get around $20K for one.

then...

The VTII GTS had a RRP of $95K. Equally a fair bit of coin. Now you would be lucky to get $25K for this ride. At the time, there was going to be no better than the VTII GTS.

Now...either

1) $150K price tag is comparatively ridiculously cheap for such a unique vehicle...

or..

2) history may repeat.

What will it be?

I think the one off special makes are the difference in the GTSR case. GTSR not that long ago was not worth much but somehow it sneaked into the mustle car books and the giant wing helped do that.
The VT, VX and VY GTS etc all had the same engine combo and was passed on model to model and nearly identicle body kit to clubsport. The GTSR has the wing and blueprinted engine, one off type model, special order engine, yellow special one off color, big decals etc. It all stood out. Chuck a supercar wing and a blueprinted one off engine on just the VX GTS and I wonder if it would of made a difference.

I doubt it will happen but if HSV bring out a 7 litre clubbie/GTS in comming few years it may effect the price. With the world money issues not sure on that one.
The 427 owners are noted in mags and newspapers they are wrapped HSV limited the sales to 200.

I hope my post wasn't misleading. Im a big fan of the W427. I just watched a utube of Skaifey driving one.

All kudos to owners...you must be grinning from ear to ear.

I just hope the owners dont get screwed. But Holden has made a lifestyle out of this very practice.

Car makers by sheer nature of their business cannot rest on one model and say...well thats our supercar and thats that.

I think we'll have to wait another 15-20 years before the likes of VS GTS, VT-VY GTS's become true collectors. Think what XU1's are fetching now, they are a good 30years old. Im just peeved, i bought a high KM example and it wasnt even a coupe (which would more likely fetch a premium down the track). But at 22 when i bought the VXGTS, it was my dream ride, and i bought it to be driven, not hidden. Only lately have i bought a decent daily so that the GTS can be kept the garage duties.

The W427 i think is a great leap forward for HSV (like the Walky, the GTS-R...) and i think it will always be a special car likely to attract big $$$ in 30years also. It is one hot car, even for $150 (what are the alternatives a 'Vette Z06 for $200k+), and if i had the money i would def get one for storage!

That's almost exactly the same number as the Coupe 4 ... almost certain that was 135.
