Hey Guys n Gals...
I've been a member here for a short while, so I finally thought I'd get around to offering the services of my "sideline job" at reduced prices for TC members.
What do I do?? Well a couple of the members here have already availed themselves of the interior lighting conversions I perform, and have demo'd the factory sound system mods - ie, true line level outputs and Auxiliary input such as iPod etc.
There's a good description of the work I do - plus some photo examples - at my website here - www.asr-audio.com.au - there are also pricelists for lighting conv ersions and stereo mods.
I'm offering TrackChat members a 15% discount over the listed prices for the lighting conversions, and 10% off the stereo modifications.
Recently I have also mastered the programming and configuration of the instrument clusters in VY and VZ models - such things as changing the start-up logos to HSV Chev or CSV, enabling shift warnings and lights, changing speedo calibration (for different diff ratios or tyre sizes), and even a custom string of text in the display beneath the odometer at power-down - like the way HSVs have say "Clubsport [build#]" for example. (my cluster says "My SV6 2005") ;) I can also enable "police mode" in VY clusters, which enables a digital speedo in these models. (although you do lose the speed alert function - meh....) Prices for reprogramming are based on what is required, but far cheaper than you can get from a dealer. I don't have the full functionality of Tech2 (the diagnostic program I have talks ONLY to the cluster), but then I don't have 5 grand to buy a Tech2 either!
For those curious, I'm based in Western Sydney - Penrith area in fact. Because I have a "day job" to hold down as well this stuff must mainly be done on weekends, but I've found that suits people better anyway.
Shoot me a PM or email with any questions. phreddy@asr-audio.com.au

Do you do any Carputer stuff?
What about HSV gauges (plug and play setups?)

Greg's work is awesome. I had all the interior lights changed to blue and the speedo and tacho goes from blue to red as the speed/revs increase. Get rid of the crap green and change it to a colour that you want.
Couple of photos.....

Thanks for that Scott! Hope you're all well Mate.
VooDoo - no, haven't really done anything with carputers. Cast an eye over a few setups - some good, some not so good... ;) As for PnP gauge setups - not really either... (sorry!) I assume you're referring to the centre binnacle gauges, the only places I really know of to go for these is mobs like NVU, Holmart, and the like. They charge a bunch for them, especially the factory ones, but you do get complete harness kits and stuff. The cheaper gauges which run oil lines back into the cab should be avoided at all cost, IMO. (worked on a couple of dashes where these had been fitted - and subsequently leaked! Oil is supposed to stay under the bonnet, I reckon...)
Primarily what I can offer is colour conversions to existing cluster and accessory gauges, plus reprogramming and reconfiguration of the main cluster parameters. For non-genuine gauges I can't guarantee results, but I also won't take on a job I don't feel comfortable about being able to complete. There's also conversions of all the other switchgear and illuminated items across the dash and console, and of course the sound system mods.
Oh, and by way of a news flash - VE COMMODORE lighting conversions ARE NOW GO! Over the weekend I converted Brian's Impulse SV6 from red to blue/white. LCD displays (the centre MFD and the cluster display) plus window/mirror switch, traction button, and headlight switch were done in blue, the control buttons on the heater/stereo control panel and the cluster gauges, plus the instrument light dimmer buttons, were done in white. (needles remained red)
One word - SENSATIONAL!! I know, I know - PHOTOS.... Workin' on that. ;)
I haven't finalised pricing on the VE conversion yet, it will be a little more than a comparable VY or VZ simply because there's a much higher LED count in the VE. We're not talking major differences though, I'll continue to make these services available at fair prices for the amount of work involved. (I was working on this SV6 for almost seven hours on Saturday! Should be able to shave some off that though - I can do a VY / VZ in five nowadays...)
Anyhow, thanks again for the great reviews fellas!

So is this a mobile service? If not I hope there's a nice pub nearby to pass the 5 or so hours. Penrith isn't exactly a short trip for most :waving:
What do you think would be a nice colour for a hothouse green car? To be honest I don't mind the green to much as it matches my car, but damn that blue looks nice :yep:

Duffman - mobile installs could be a reality, although naturally I'd have to add allowances for travel time, fuel, etc. In fact, almost 2 years ago now (whew!) I did two "roadshow" trips - one to Brisbane and one to Adelaide - where I lined up enough blokes to get a week's work in each location, and arranged a place to crash while I was there (metaphorically, of course...) ;)
Since then I had to return to full-time work, as there just wasn't enough work coming in to go full time. (gotta keep that ol' mortgage paid) So I'm back to doing this stuff on weekends, which is mostly when people want it done anyway. (that was the other problem with going into this stuff full time)
Anyhow, depending on how keen you are I'm sure we could work something out. By the way - colour? I've done a Hothouse VY Ute - when I was in Adelaide in fact - all white. Looked damn good! Yellow might be another option - yellow and green - AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!! Yellow with white gauges actually looks really nice. Something to think about anyhow. There are some pics of the full white job in a thread on my other favourite hangout here - http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/asr-audio-electronics/53751-asr-work-examples-pictures.html - there are a lot of pics, so it might take a while to load.

Hi Greg :waving:
Mate i've got a question regarding the Vy HSV binnacle gauges.Did I read correctly that you can change the back lighting for these? If I did get a set i'd want it to match the rest of the lighting you did for me :)
