G'day again everyone, HAPPY 2009 to all!
(despite the fact that Tyco tried to put a damper on mine...) ;)
OK, for the third time now I've been retrenched from my job in the IT industry, and I've had enough of it. After looking at the cause for why things didn't go quite so well a couple of years ago (hence the reason I had to go back into full time employment), I'm gonna give it another go - and make it work this time! :yep:
Recently I've been able to add another model to my line-up (VE), and have almost finalised the process to mod VT/VX dashes - in addition I recently acquired a diagnostic computer (a-la Tech 2, but so much more as well....) and so therefore am offering a great number of extra sevices over the straight out dash lighting or stereo mods. We're talking such things as all vehicle system diagnostic and trouble code analysis / resetting, and unlike a dealer I have no problem with showing you the diagnostic results. You can then get the parts you need, ONLY the parts you need, and fit them yourself without paying the dealership's apprentice to do it. ;)
Many other things as well - specialised instrument configuration, speedo calibration, audio system "hidden" options.
And I won't make you jump through hoops or ask a lot of unnecessary questions.
For those who don't know where I am, Penriff maate! Outer Western suburbs of Sydney - basically on a routine basis I can work on-site in the Sydney Metro area, but for those in other metro centres, or even regional areas, from time to time I'm planning a "Roadshow" tour - I did a couple of these almost two years ago, and they were quite successful. The first trip was to Brisbane, and the second to Adelaide. Before I could get a trip to Melbourne done, I was forced back into working for "the man".
So this time, Melbourne will be first on the list. In fact, I am planning this trip to head off in around a couple of weeks, probably looking at staying down there for a week with sufficient work booked. As long as it's not out of place to point to threads in "other" forums here, there's a reference here for anyone who might be interested.... http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/asr-audio-electronics/90189-roadshow-ii-lets-get.html
(no, it's not THAT forum....) ;)
Anyways, all the best to everyone - might see some of you around! :waving:
Cheerz!

Sorry to hear about your job ... it's happening a lot at the moment, not that that's any consolation for you.
Congrats. on making the move to full time with the business though, I'll go over everything you offer with you when the Coupe's back on the road, look forward to get it personalised a little.
All the best with the business mate, hope it goes great.

Hey, thanks for that Dan - and to all for the kind words.
And best of luck on your own road trip! From what I've seen of the work YOU do, there aren't too many around the place who go to such efforts and have perfected the techniques you have. Believe me, the dear ol' SV6 will be receiving some of your special brand of TLC as soon as I can! ;)

Well I had Greg from ASR swap all the Coupe 4 interior lights over today ... factory was the fairly ordinary green EVERYWHERE !!! (No offence meant to anyone that likes it ... I just never did).
Greg went for white LEDs on all the dash buttons and dials, blue LEDs on all the screens (dash / audio / a/c) and blue on the other switchs (gear shift / traction / lights / sunroof / windows / etc).
To say I'm happy with the results is an understatement ... it looks friggen awesome, much better than I can convey in photos without a tripod ... but I'll give it a bash anyway. Huge thanks to Greg, top bloke and unbelievably good at what he does !!!
Here's all I could manage pic wise ... I'll try again when I get around to finding a tripod one day.

Thanks SO MUCH Nick - firstly for the opportunity to work on your GORGEOUS toy, and for the fantastic write-up!
(heh - nice poke too Wom... That was probably my fault!! Sorry Nick!) ;)
It was my very great pleasure Mate, and I'll be in touch soon on the "Stealth" audio issue... :D

Wow looks sensational Nick.
Another quality job Greg. Nice work !!!
So you're finally going to get that audio gear installed ? About bloody time. It's in good hands with Greg.
Did you go with the morphing speedo/tacho ?
Look forward to catching up soon.
Cheers,
Scott

Didn't in the end mate, for a few reasons;
- The Coupe had the white faced dash background so the white needle that turns red wouldn't really work.
- Greg said he could change the colour of the needles but we decided that given the whole scheme the red needles look best anyway.
- I hardly ever see redline ... so it was more of a gimmick than anything else. I decided to stick with the colour I liked instead.
Greg's going to fix up the audio side of things soon ... it's been a while since we picked up all the gear hey !!! Can't wait, should sound great. Greg has a few tricks with the factory head unit to vastly improve the sound without losing the factory look.
Also look forward to a catch up, it's been way too long ... we were going to have dinner "in the new year" weren't we !!!

The blue looks fantastic! I really want to do this to my Monaro but being Red I am not sure it will look good :(

I had some doubts about the blue but ... that looks excellent mate. :bravo:
Bloody got me thinking about blu-ifiying the goon now. :headbang:
Green with the blue scan gauge looks rather stark.
Good work Greg ...

Could always change the scan guage lol
True ... but anyone can do it the easy way Dan.
I prefer to do things the Max Power way. :yep:

Thanks for all those lovely comments guys! :D
PulseRed - it's very surprising just how sweet the red/white colour theme looks.... Think of Nick's car with red where the blue is....
Worth a thort maybe? ;)

Couple of pics here to give you an idea....
(it's a VY Exec, so no climate control - and an aftermarket stereo - but it gives a good impression)

Thanks for the response Phreddy. Red looks good on that car. I had my heart set on blue but I will have to think about Red as an option. Plus change my blue scangauges
Interesting though my aftermarket HU has the option of blue or red...
I want red and white on mine. Sigh, one day lol

LOL!! We'll get there one day Dan - you never know, we could always negotiate something.... ;)
PulseRed - I wonder how the scan gauges would look in white??? Hmmmm....
