HELP! Car stereo is kaput.

Hi all :wave:

Well its been around 4 or 5 months since my car stereo has broken and the conversations im having with myself are starting to become weird so the question is:

Does anyone know any good places in Sydney where i can get my original head unit re-installed? Or does anyone know how I can put my factory one back in/help me do it in return of beers? :beer:

Basically whats happen is i bought a cd head unit and got it installed by Strathfield car radios around a year ago and its stopped working - (ie no sound / cant even turn on) so yes......

Please reply back for my own sanity :eyes:

Hi Hethro,

Is the aftermarket head unit still under warranty? Take it back to Strathfield if it is. I can only suggest checking the obvious like fuses. What else did you get installed apart from the hed unit?

Sort of by the by... but i had a head unit installed by Strathfield on my first car. A couple of weeks later, all the wires on the underside of the dash fused together in a puff of smoke! Took me weeks to fix it, separating wire by wire and re-insulating each (was my first car, HJ Premier, and I didnt have money for a rocket surgeon [auto electrician] to fix it!). Suffice to say i dont use Strathfield for such work anymore; heard a few similar stories from others along these lines too.

Nah its not, went out of warranty in Jan this year. It's just the head unit that is installed.

That would be great man, i think the facia around the unit will need to be taken off - dont know how we could do that?

Yeh Dunc i feel your pain. Ive heard that they are really dodgy i still dont know why i went there?! Spose im an optimist! :(

If me and Bombi fail before i will PM you and make arrangements to come over and give u some brew and bring the unit, thankyou very much for your offer. I might also need to install some new 6x9's as well because they stopped working before the cd took a dump but will report back this weekend.

HethroNP, we might take over Scats driveway as i still dont have any power in my garage yet which makes it really annoying to work out of.
