Hey Guys and Girls

Well its been a long time coming for my new ride to replace my Uni banger (1994 Toyota Camry that ive tracked, done a WSID run in and a skidpan day). So I settled on this, Purchased one week ago:

Make Mazda.
Model 1999 NB8A Mx5.
Engine 1.8 4 Cyl.
Trans 5 Speed manual.
Body type Convertable softop with optional hardtop.
History I am the third owner of car. Previous owner had it for 6 years and was used purely as a weekend car. Came factory with leather, tints, hardtop, silver dash inserts, 16inch alloys and floor mats. Has full service history with Mazda and never been in an major accident. Car is in immaculate condition for its age. Has brand new Goodyear eagle F1 tyres on it.
Added bits K and N panel air filter, Blue Xenon stlye headlight globes, Clarion headunit with Fusion 5x7 speakers and upspec brake pads. Future mods include better shocks and fart box cat back exhaust but only if they need replacing.

I absolutely love this car, quick enough, cheap, reliable and most importantly - fun!

Cheers,

Hethro :D

Good stuff and congrats Alex!

Lots of guys run these at the supersprints. There is a pretty big club that organises such events, you should get along to one of the sprint events and have a chat to them, they seem like a good bunch.

Nice one Hethro!
I also bought one - a one owner 2001 6speed only done 60km with books. It's like new and is a lot of fun. I must admit though I find it verrrrry slooooow. I somehow don't think it'll last too long before boredom sets in...

Hey guys,

Bored of it Seldo? I still love it, sure it could do with a few more herbs but its pretty well balanced as it is. How much did you pay for yours?

I got MRT today to put a SE (turbo model) muffler on the car which i bought of a bloke on the weekend for $20. Came with a Mazdaspeed polished tip - love the sound of it not a annoying fartbox drone.

Yep sounds like a good idea Phil count me in!

Hey guys,

Bit of an update on the Car.

Purchased a Voodoo Pearl shift knob for it which is great, almost like a short shift kit but without the high dollar signs!

Also put on a second hand adjustable strut brace for $90 yesturday, makes the front end of the car alot stiffer and its more throwable through the corners :breakdance:

Car is still running really well, no break downs, dents or scratches.

Looking to get a new front windscreen when i come back from Wellington at the end of the month as its got some nasty and annoying stone chips in it.

Will post piccies up when i can.

Cheers,

Hethro:driving:

Wow Ang, cool!

Well update on ze car - bought a rear sway bar off the SE (turbo) Mx5. Is 2mm thicker than your standard sway bar so bolting that on in the next few weeks before a private track day at Wakefield park.

Slotted rotors to be put on the car when I come back from the 'states. Found a great cheap brake place over there that will do 4 slotted rotors including free shipping in America for $250 australian!!!

Post some new pics up in the coming weeks including the sway bar upgrade - cant wait to see how she goes on the track!

Hey guys,

Bit of an update.

Since putting the rear sway bar in I have fitted:

*Front strut brace.

* Bilstein shocks and Tein springs.

*Slotted rotors front and rear.

The car handles like a rollercoaster!

The only thing that lets the car down is power :(

I have owned the car for 3 years now and has been a real pleasure...unfortuantly I will be selling it at the years end and getting something bigger & faster.

Im sure when im a bit older I will revist this car. They are a great little toy and are fantastic to drive. The community and parts for them are fantastic. I will be really sad to see her go but these things have to be done.
