Looking very nice. Welcome to TC. Good to see the new W427 hoops on an older VT, look sweet.

Im looking at that cam for my GTS, what sort of the power did it produce with the converter, and whats the driveability like?

Thanks mate,

The cam isnt too bad, drives really well (its my daily), very linear in power. The comp site says it works from 2200-7000rpm. it made 238rwkw with the convertor left unlocked (4000 convertor) The same cam in a mates car made 262rwkw with his converter locked in another vt hsv.

heres a vidclip of the idle for you.

i will be pulling this cam out soonish to upgrade so it will be for sale. just dont know how soon yet :)

Like the rims but have you had to fit 225 tyres to get them under the guards?

Looks like it in this pic ... the edge of the rim seems to stick out further than the edge of the tyre.

Is it just the angle in the pic?

I recall this lovely machine rocking up at the nats and thinking very nice. there was also a very nice passanger if i remember right:wave:

Gets up and boogies for a cammed ls1 12.39 dial in against me in the 1st elimination. I dialled the same time and was breaking out so hit the anchors and SIG drove on by for the win:eek:

Well done mate.

You got any more info on the wheels such as:
Where you get them from

Rubber is 245/30 all round at the moment, wasnt sure what size tyres i could fit under the rear and thought it was a safe bet just to use 245's until they wear out. Could probably squeeze 275's under.

offset is 57p but am using a slip on 5mm spacer to make them fit on the rear.

i machined the centre of the wheels and used stud locators for the smaller VT style studs.

Thanks mate, the passenger is the gf, never stopped complaining on the 720km journey over, lucky the stereo is fairly loud hehe

My best was 12.44 and hit that like 6 times over the weekend, plenty of room for improvement, u gave me a bit of a fright when u caught me in the deep end though :)

Busted valve spring presumably.

Based on the posts at St Elsewheres about the ongoing failure of COMP 918s on even stock cammed cars.

What's the lift on the cam?

im not sure these are comp springs? ill have to ask Gareth that one.

Lift is only .571 .573

On 9.5" rims ... yikes, that's no where near enough rubber on those rims man.

:sigh:

Been a while since ive updated this.. But been lurking around and im impressed with the site and how much info is on it :yep:

Ive had the torque convertor let go on me a couple of months ago requiring a full rebuild on the trans and convertor. Since Circle d didnt do squat, MV's loked after me a fair bit on price and made it a better combo, gaining another 200nm at the rears.

I did put wider tyres on the 9.5's but they didnt like my guards so i sold them and bought some VY GTS's and colour coded them :)

Fitted some Pedders XA Coilovers, and ive wondered ever since why i ever went down the road of lowered springs, much better to drive.

Bought some 2nd hand pacemakers from a car that recieved a turbo, and funnily enough made my exhaust drone free and a tad quieter, but deeper at WOT and gained 12rwkw.

Now im in the process of getting bits and pieces together to run E85 fuel again, i got some 42lb injectors and another PCM, just got to modifly my fuel sender unit with the Walbro (got some fuel supply issues). Then get the car up to scratch for the trip over to the LSX nats in April, hopefully i can do a bit better this time around.

the new wheels defiantly give the car a smoother overall appearance, i will always believe that the best wheels for these cars are the factory gts rims, they were once over done to death but now a lot of people have gone on to shittier blingy style wheels and left the better ones for the purist.

Yeah im getting a little older and wiser even though im only 23. Keeps the cops off my back especially being colour coded, aswell as being different from the rest. The decent toyo proxes tyres helps me at least get some traction aswell..
