Here is some info for those interested in installing a shift light in there VE/ similar vehicle. It is a Raptor performance shift light theat i installed to my VE SSv.

The shift light comes with 3 wires on the back, signal, power, and earth.

With the VE's there isn't a tacho input wire as such, so the signal needs to be taken from the coils. To get the signal i used the purple wire on the plug on the number 1 coil (front passengers side). This is the only wire that needs to go into the engine bay, i went through the factory grommet in the firewall.

For the power i sourced it from the power window switch in the centre console, it is a brown wire on the corner of the plug. This way the shift light only gets power when the ignition is on.

For the earth i used the factory earth location to the right of the steering column in the dash.

I installed the shift light in the lower part of the a pillar trim, it is a very snug fit but you are still able to pull it out slightly to make rpm adjustments.

Very clever, well done mate ... I still wouldn't be game to try this myself though, anything electrical just freaks me out.

Thanks for posting up the how to ...

Well done! A year ago i had to buy a bloody $200 wiring book just to find that same wire on a VY (behind the dash).
That will be very helpful to more than a few in the future.
