Have been on the skidpan plenty of times before but I always manage to miss out on the twilight sessions. IMO the EC skidpan is one the best ways you can enjoy your car - and it's generally pretty safe, and cheap! Win win IMO. :)

Not sure if I can get there by 5pm, but I'm definitely interested. When does Aaron need final numbers by?

Cheers,
- Febs.

Aaron's currently racing at Phillip Island. His misses sent the forms through to me though.

Note that you will need to change the location to Eastern Creek and the time to PM as this form was setup for an all day Oran Park event. No big deal. Fill it out, fax it off and away we go.

This is a PDF file, so you will need Adobe acrobat reader to view it.

Click here to get it if you don't have it. It's free to download (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html)

Skidpan booking form - Right Click here and save as. (http://www.excelerate.com.au/downloads/Scat2k3/AM%20Event%20Booking%20Form%20.pdf)

No doubt, Aaron will be in touch next week, so we can finalise everything then.

Cheers,

Scott

P.S. Notice there is a "club discount" on the form? Might have to talk to him about that :werd:

I'm assuming you all know how to get to the main entrance at Eastern Creek (let me know if you don't).

To get to the skidpan, hang a right at the round about at the main entrance and follow the road around to the back of the circuit.

Turn left at the entrance to WSID and the entrance to the skidpan is via the gates on the left hand side of the road right near the entrance gates to WSID.

The google earth map below shows this entrance and skidpan location.

Hey Scat, thanks for all the infi man

If you want good maps go with Google maps not google earth. Google maps give you 3 views of an area, MAP, Satelite and Hybrid (Sat image with a map over lay)

Dont trust "where is", just ask Alex. I have had probs with it also.

Will be faxing of the form today!!

I thought this was on last night for some bizarre reason. I might be able to make it out on Monday to watch for a bit. In any case, keep an eye on those power steering reservoirs guys, in between skid pan sessions

RedVYIISS

Yep, what Duncan said. Any of you Holden guys going should have a power steering cooler fitted, if not a good check after every session. I'm hoping to pop out and say hi after work as well. Can't have a play, my trans is not quite right yet.

From what i have seen at the half dozen skid pan/track days, the VX I and earlier are ones to watch for cooking PS fluid, VX II and up are all good (from what ihave seen), i know my VY was well tested :up2sum:

Then I probably didn't have to worry ... but best to be on the safe side ...

Bomi popped in to say hi this afternoon so we took the GTS for a spin up to the local repco in search of a power steering cooler. We were after the PWR transmission cooler for $99 but they were all out of stock, so we wandered up the road to Auto One and got another brand for $165 ... looked the same as the PWR, just a lot more expensive. :toetap:

So anyway, we got it back to my place and opened it all up, Troy noticed something so had a pick at the brand name sticker on the cooler ... off it came to reveal "PWR" underneath !!! What a rip, a $99 PWR cooler for $165. Oh well ... I needed it today so I couldn't really be choosy.

So anyway, at about 5pm I set to the install, by myself. One hour and forty minutes later I put the last tool away and had a brand new PWR transmission cooler flowing nicely with my power steering fluid ... so I'm hoping that will mean no issues what so ever tomorrow evening. I was rather suprised at how quickly I got it done, nothing went wrong and as I have done this 3 times now the whole thing was very easy.

Thanks for help picking it out Bomi ... hope to see a whole bunch of trackchat members out at eastern Creek tomorrow ... can't wait !!!

VXii here, & first skid-pan outing without a cooler had the engine bay sprayed with p/s fluid. The p/s cooler is cheap insurance & peace of mind.

It can be a bit hit and miss though. My VX1 has been through hell on the skidpan, and the level has barely risen more than a cm or two. Others I've seen (VT right through to VY) have been much worse off...including a VY which popped a hose and started a fire in the engine bay!

Regardless, I've got a nice "Permacool" cooler fitted up, right above my trans cooler (also important on an auto VT+). I find a good choice is to use a 4cyl trans cooler - a little overkill, but that's a good thing. :)

Forgetting the VY Clubbie from the last skidpan day are we Carl? :)

That's the one! Flames coming out of your engine bay...not the best of sights.

I just found out that the drift/figure 8 track is closed (for good due to OH&S), and 15 people are booked to go... ganna be a busy night, and i can see two cars at once on the parking lot at once (just spoke to Arron)...

The next question is, who has enough land, say 1000m2 to make a drift track + dam for irrigation..?

If i win lotto, thats on the list of things to do

Argh, another 15 cars? Here I was looking forward to a nice quiet evening on the skidpan with a couple of TC guys and not many others. :(

I hope we at least get to do some activities 1 car at a time. You really can't get stuck into it if there's another car on the skidpan. :(

RIP figure 8 track

It certainly was a great track (though I still prefer the skidpan - it's faster :D).

It was pretty safe if you used a bit of common sense (I'm sure we all remember what carlo's mate did), but unfortunately some people who are into drift lack that common sense. ;)

Most probably dual events. We did this at the last private skid pan day with around 20 cars and everyone got plenty of action on the track.

Well, I hope you bastards enjoyed yourselves.

Got in the car to head off and the low coolant alarm started going off. Topped it up, and straight over to Sonny's.

Looks like I have 2 problems. Bearings in the water pump are buggered and a blocked radiator. Anyway, that will all get sorted over the next day or so, but buggered any antics for this evening.

So, at your earliest convenience, post up reviews, pics and videos.

What a night!!!! :D

Had soooooooooooo much fun. Far out! It was really really useful finding out how much my car could take and how quickly you learn your car in a safe environment like that. A rule i learnt from the night was this:

*Enter cone wide, off throttle, smooth and not too big turn, after the turn GENTLEY on the throttle and power through*

Will defiantly be doing the next one which is slated for 3 week of Jan. It was great to see the members out there again and i look forward to all the photo's and videos!
