I was searching the internet for a few old photos of some old race tracks and i stumbled across a big forum and 1 thread in particular.
It was all about Amaroo park.
I read through every word of the thread and it had some great photos of the early days of not only the track but the hillclimb and the dirt circuit.
It stirred alot of memories for me as i spent so much time there as a kid.
So it got me thinking about favourite race tracks, cars, drivers and first memories of catching the car racing bug..........
only problem is i cant find the thread now.........
so post up your memories and recolections and any pics if you have them!

No pics but i live 10mins from there. I used to sit in the backyard when the V8's were on because i could hear them. I also rode my bike round there when they decided they were closing it. Was pretty cool.

I used to go there all the time with my Dad and Uncle as my dad raced a Mini CooperS and my uncle formula fords was some awesome time. Shame oran park is going the same way :(

Amaroo had a dirt circuit?

Wow ... where was it in relation to the main track?

IMO ... one of the best circuits, esp on a bike. Rather crowded when the V8s used to run there though.

Stop/Go used to make the sphinctor pucker but a fun circuit for bike circuit days.

Any chance of a link to the thread?

Remember of to the left of stop go corner?
If you went through the bush there it was about 150 metres away maybe.....
The top set of gates when you drove in to pay if you turned right there it would take you to the hillclimb and dirt circuit and motocross track....

Well I'll be buggered ... I never knew that. Sterling Moss even raced there.

Amaroo was a track with specific character which is what made it unique. I spend many days there with the Stay upright motorcyle crew and loved every minute spent on the track.

Racing was always a good watch ... even the 2lt tourers when they were around but my fav of all time was watching the NC appendix J guys barrelling into Stop/Go 3 wide!

Thanks heaps for posting about this ... trip down memory lane.

Great pics Aeron ... first round in 1993 if my memory serves me correctly.

Back in the days when Neil Crompton had his own race team (GIO Commodores) and the first round when most teams were back in V8s.
