View Full Version : Group Buy - PWR Power Steering Reservoir

Hi,

So i'm looking into getting a PWR Power Steering Reservoir direct from PWR for about $190+ postage.

I was hoping others may also be interested in these as they appear to be a good bit of gear and I figure if we can get a few interested in these we should be able to get a decent discount. I'm happy to pick these up and post them out individually from PWR as I only live 30 mins drive from their workshop here on the Gold Coast.

I have spoken to one of the mods and we ok to use the trackchat bank acc for all deposits to make this easier.

I would like to have these sorted and paid for by close of business on 31/07/2009 so that gives everyone a little over 6 weeks to decide if you want one funds permitting of course.

I'd predict the maximum cost of these including postage will be $200.

Any questions please ask.

Cheers - Matt

I'd be interested in this, and from speaking direct to PWR regarding the P/S coolers a while back, they're more than likely to offer a pretty decent discount for 5 or more and even more for 10.

Let us know how you go with the pricing :)

Also, do these have a means of checking the fluid level without having to open the reservoir?

VooDoo

Thats already pretty good pricing. My dealer price is close to that (would cover postage)

Smokie: i have a spare PWR one here that im not using too...

Duffman: You have to open them but they are larger than stock so hold more fluid. Their old one is on the left, new style on the right.

Ok will do :D

I will be speaking direct with PWR in the next week or so to find out what they can offer us depending on how many are interested. I'm confident we should be able to get a discount for 5 units and a decent discount for 10 units.

toey, i'm hoping to put in the order on Monday 3rd August so anyone interested will need to have deposited the money in the TC bank acc by close of business 31/07/2009. When we get closer to the date I will get all the bank details up for payments.

I was also thinking for anyone that missed out on the PWR power steering cooler group buy or wants a PWR trans cooler etc maybe we could incorporate this into the current group buy?

So far we have ......

Incl GST or plus?

I'm not 100% sure Dave. I have emailed Brad back to find out if he'll be joining up and helping out with the group buy. I will call him directly tomorrow and find out whats happening and sort out the prices with GST etc. I also think they are standard pricing and being that we will be purchasing quite a bit of gear i'd assume that including tax that would be the max price we would be looking at.

hey guys, just for the casual weekend/daily car i would recommend the PWO0527.

as for the modified car needing a more heavy duty cooler i would recommend the PWO0528.

please note both of the above are 3/8 hose barb fittings.

can come in 5/16 and -6

i hope this helps you guys out

Hi Matty,

Just after a ball park total on all the gear Im after?
Ok,alot of questions.....
Still abit lost on which fittings to go with on tranny cooler. I'm wondering if it safer to run -6 or -8 fittings on the tranny?
Also wondering if it possible to run an inline magnafilter on the tranny(http://www.magnafilter.com.au/magna-fine.html)?What sort of pressures does the tranny system see? I think the magnafilters only come in barb type fitting which is a hassle.......
I can get hoses etc made up to suit basically any combo. I understand you can only get barb fittings for the p/s cooler so thats cool.
Speaking of which, any TC members need hoses or fittings made up I can assist with this.:yep:

Most tranny coolers just use a barb and clamp. Pressures arent that high (same as the low pressure side of the PS.) All you need to do is cut the existing line to the radiator, exted them to the tranny cooler then link it back. That way both the radiator and the cooler are used. There was a good "how to" guide on that other forum a while back. Same principle for the PS cooler. The lines areon the bottom of the drivers side that go from the hard lines to the rubber hoses. You remove the old hoses completely, install new hose from the hard lines direct to the new PS cooler and make sure its mounted well. Then your all sorted.

Bit of an update about the coolers....

Here is a reply email from Brad about -6 and -8 (they are both in the earlier price list also)

"Our coolers can come in -6 fittings aswell.

If your unsure weather to run -6 or -8, ours are only -6 so running -8 would be a waste of time/money because having a bigger line has to reduce down to get past the -6. Make sense?

I am unsure if the power steer filter would be ok on the transmission.

I dont know what pressure the transmission will se as every car is different.

Our warranty on our oil coolers is up to 80psi. i am unsure if the filter will increase or decrease pressure"

No worries Mick.

For those still interested i've pinched the payment details from DaveHAT's thread for the Helmet Group Buy and i'm sure they haven't changed in the last few weeks.

Please put your username as a reference for the payments and also include PWR after it so Nick can see they are for the PWR group buy. Once payment is made please put up a post to show you have done this so we can keep track of when the payments should appear.

ie: smokiebbear PWR

Account Name ... TrackChat
Bank ... NAB
Account # ... 870675634
BSB ... 082201

The prices are in the thread not inclusive of GST so please make sure you include the 10% for GST also.

Not sure what postage will cost however PWR have advised they normally charge $20 for a prepaid airbag to post it out so I guess if you include that for postage if it works out less I will be happy to put it back in the trackchat acc and it can either be refunded to you or donated to trackchat to pay for some of the running costs for the site.

Brad@PWR has also advised that the caps for the reservoirs can come in either Red or Black so please let me know what colour cap you would like otherwise you'll be getting a Black one.

I'm running late for an appointment so anything I have missed out on at the moment i'll update when I get home later.

My car is primarily street driven and only gets the occasional squirt at the drags to test out new combinations etc etc. With the setup i'm currently running I find it is more than sufficent for a street driven car if anything you may be able to go a smaller trans cooler if need be.

I have sent an email to you with my delivery address and my payment reference, cheers

Mick

No worries. I will check my emails and update it to the postal spreadsheet for the Group Buy soon as I get home as I have no access to them at work.

nickS has advised he will let me know when the payments arrive in the TC acc also (he is also very busy this time of year so it may take a couple of days before I recieve notification) at which point all funds will be transferred to PWR so I can pick up and post out everyones orders.

It's a little late unfortunatly :( We need to have all funds cleared by monday so we can send the payment through to PWR as everyone that has paid is expecting their stuff to be sent out next week. If we had the prices for the expansion tank it would be ok as you could transfer the funds today but i'm not sure on the pricing of them so it may hold us up for a few days. I will email/phone Brad@PWR and get a price tomorrow for you anyhow and you may be able to just pay PWR directly as part of the Group Buy and therefore all monies paid will reach PWR at the same time. Check back tomorrow and i'll have posted up the pricing once I have spoken to him.

I will be orgonising another group buy in the next few months for other PWR stuff otherwise and you can certainly get involved with that.

BAD364 - Paid - Black Cap
smokiebbear - Paid - Black Cap
Evman - Paid - Black Cap
Duffman - Paid - Black Cap

PWR Trans Coolers

Mohit - Paid - 1 x PWO0530 280 x 200 x 19mm (-6 AN fittings)

PWO1129 280 x 80 x 19mm -6 Anfittings DIFF
PWA 6076 - Power Steering Reservoir - Black Lid

Final Order

5 x PWA 6076 175 + GST = $192.50 x 5 = $962
3 x PWO0530 280 x 200 x 19mm (-6 AN fittings) $104 + GST = $114.40 x 3 = $343.20

For all that have put in for the Group Buy we should have it sorted shortly, I have contacted PWR and they have emailed me the quote which I have passed onto Nick to put the money across to once the last payment reaches the TC acc.

At this stage it looks like all systems go to pick up and mail out the parts Friday however. If anything changes I will update the thread.

Ok its all done :nutbag:

I have posted it all out via registered post and i'll pm everyone their registered post numbers (so check your pm box).

I have also insured the post for the above amounts below ...

LB. $400
Mohit/Strobe $200
Evman $200
Bad364 $200
Duffman $200

The total for post came to $92.60 and I had a total of $97.50 for postage so we just scraped in :D

Unfortunatly one of the reservoirs has a few scratches on it so it needs to be re-polished so I have taken that one for myself. I have to go back to PWR again today to swap it over so i'll use the $5 remaining from the postage to put towards the petrol to go back

The post is sent via regular post so predicted delivery dates are as follows ...

Mohit/Strobe 2-3 days
Duffman/LB. 2-3 days
Bad364 3-4 days
Evman 4-5 days

Please let me know when you recieve it. I have taken the upmost care to pack and send everyones gear.

Mohit/Strobe & LB. - Yours is in a post box and has extra bubble wrap and air pillows.

Duffman/Bad364/Evman - I have sent it via post bag with extra bubble wrap also (3 layers I think).

If anyones stuff arrives damaged please let me know as I have insured it and have all the paperwork.

Unfortunately I've had issues with mine. As soon as I installed it I've had issues with aeration of the power steering fluid. I've been in contact with Brad over the phone and looks like we'll be going for a refund but that isn't finalised yet. I refitted the factory one and as soon as I did the problem was gone again. From what Brad said over the phone it seems to be an isolated issue so I wouldn't have a clue what the problem is. It's very frustrating mainly because it's such a good looking product, but not much else can be done about it. Unfortunately I'll no doubt lose out on postage costs again to get the reservoir back to PWR but I can't really expect them to cover that for me.

Hey Evan,

i have sent you another reservoir, i could not find anything wrong with the tank after a long inspection.

how ever whilst having yet another squiz i noticed no o'ring in the cap.

in my experiance as a Pool Technician Previous to working for PWR, if there is no o'ring on the lid of a pool pump, it will suck air. im assuming this will be much the same in this situation.

let me know how you go mate.
