So I thought I'd get around to posting up the HQ which I having been running in the NSW State Championship so far this year.

So far this year I've run the Round 1 at Eastern Creek, Round 3 at Oran Park and then again to Eastern Creek for round 4 last weekend where it was plagued with engine issues all weekend making for a frustrating experience especially qualifying on 5 cylinders. But it was another tick in the book on the way to getting off the Provisional Circuit license and onto a full National Circuit license.

As you can see shes nothing special with the series being fairly controlled when it comes to modifications, with the old 202, pedders control suspension, kumho control tyres etc etc. When purchased it was just the shell with a new cage and motor that had to go in.

It will be resprayed at the end of the year and the hunt for new sponsors will begin with the current theme left over from the previous owner (my old boss).

Doesn't matter if it's "nothing special" mate ... you're out there on the track doing it and not sitting back watching like most of us.

:)

Anyone who can get enough ducks in a row to go motorracing at ANY level deserves plenty of praise in my book. I remember seeing yours going around last weekend.

HQs amaze me though ... how can there be such an enormous speed differentiation in a category that's got so many things controlled? ;)

Good fun watching from the sidelines so I can only imagine how much fun (& frustration) it must be on the track.

Cheers.

Looks like a well presented car!
Good luck with the sponsors.
If you need any help or advice in set up or anything just ask........I have quite alot of knowledge available to me with this category as my old man started HQ racing in the mainland!

They are suprisingly quick, as long as you stay away from straights that is.
The top guys on the weekend were doing 2:01's around Eastern Creek where as I did a best of a 2:06 with an engine that wouldn't rev above 4000rpm in third gear all weekend, making for a very slow trip down the straight.

The variations in speed come down really to how much you want to pay for engines. The guys up the front are paying about $7-8000 for a motor compared to my very basic combo. With one of the front runners blowing 3 motors through the weekend it can get a bit pricey to run them that hard. It also comes down to how much timing you want to run, which is usually the death of the motors with people getting too greedy for that last bit of power. The top guys are making power for at least another 1000rpm after mine drops off its peak and a lot more of it.

Mine is going into CHE on monday to get the exhaust changed as its very bent up and costing power as its a system off another car. Will also get it on the Dyno and see why it wont rev out, it seems like its not getting any fuel in 3rd gear for some reason.

Its very much entry level motorsport but can still be expensive with the average race weekend costing about a grand without including breakages etc. Hopefully once I find some sponsors it will hurt the hip pocket a bit less.

Choppo I saw both Ahmed and yourself out there on the weekend and cringed at Ahmeds big moment through turn one. He did a very nice job to keep it under some sort of control.

Very true in that a lot of the HQ's get fairly beaten. I'm trying to avoid the carnage, with so far just one panel that was damaged and had to be fixed before this last round.

I won't be doing Wakefield as the HQ's are doing the Shannons Nationals next weekend back at Eastern Creek which will take up the budget. Will be back for Oran Park, and then hopefully get low enough in the championship to be able to run at Bathurst early next year.

One day I'll step up into something quicker, but for now this will do.
