Just be easier to start a LM IPRA catorgory. Saves eveyone getting their nickers in a not. Easier to make a new catorgory than change one that has been around for many moons
Each race have
U2L IP
Over 2L IP
Post 86 IP
All race in the one car race but get a win for each catorgary just like U2L and over 2L now. If people have post 86 and want to run with the pre 86 they nominate at the beginning of each season. The races will contine as is but a slight change in trophies
How hard is it. Pretty easy if you ask me

It shouldnt be that hard......
Its great the way it is........a good mix of old and new......lots of variety....
If someone chooses to build and old car what is the problem....its their fault if they bend it every weekend and cant get parts.....its up to the person building and racing the cars not the admin.....or it will just turn into v8 taxi cab racing.

That does make sense Listy, we have this in SA basically EM U2L and O2L and LM U2L and O2L all race together. It works well and everybody is happy. What needs to happen is Late Model Turbo (LMT) cars like WRXs and EVOs etc need a hand to be competitive against early model cars like RX7s and EMT cars like datto 1600s and Corollas etc. The weight of the LMT 4wd cars is the killer for them, they need specialised engines designed to run 40psi of boost and drivetrains to match which will be 60-70 grand just on engine/drivetrain components.
The idea a few NSW guys have at the moment is they run a boost limiter instead of a 36mm restrictor on the turbo, so the drivelines can remain fairly stock and make IP more attractive for LMT car. The problem with the restrictor is it costs $$$$ to develop one that works and when 40psi is used torque equals close to 600ft/lb and destroys drivetrains. A boost limiter will give similar performance and a much wider rev range and a lot less torque so the drivetrain copes.
Its great the way it is........a good mix of old and new......lots of variety....
Im with you to Bluegem I love racing with a wide range of cars, last state round I was dicing with a Cosworth Merc and at Bathurst I was racing a M3 BMW, thats what its all about.
Would love to see more LM out there and they need a hand to help with performance but the guys that developed the series and have spent many tens of thousands of dollars need to be looked after also and still be competitive.
And chop you V8 guys dont need any help engine wise..... maybe a air restrictor for you guys :swords: :) but you need to be able to utilise lighter panels, persex etc to get the commodes and falc on a diet, although when Hislop broke the Sandown lap record by 1 sec in his first session in his V8 Im not so sure, could you imagine how quick his Falcon would be with 200kg taken out of it:)

Reading about that BA and the performace it makes is bloody increadable. The fella done well. Big budget but at the end of the day pretty tight rules and he has made a amazing bit of machiney.
THe classes have been around for so long change will take time. I recon start as per the SA guys and let things progress over time. People with the older cars that are logged booked will alway stir as it will massively depreciatie the value of their rides. Totally unfair on them and in all likely hood they will say buy buy to IP and go race in another series like the IRACE etc.
Bring in more trophies for different classes and let things progress.
Somehow TV needs to become involved. The IRACE seems to work with the TV so why can not IPRA.

Not sure how IRACE do it??? Last time IPRA was televised, it cost massive $ apparently. Like $50k a round.
Nice to see John and i (semi) agree on getting real LM cars into IPRA
IRACE, Supersprints and other Series are coming to overtake IPRA - real quick too.
BlueGem - not sure of your position on this topic i.e. getting real LM cars involved?

Im all for guys that wana buid LM cars Chop.......the problem is the cost......and development.....I love watching IPRA....it is great....but i think it is wrong trying to outlaw EM cars....it is a cheap way of getting into racing....and the cars have been developed and there are plenty of parts available.....IRACE will become pretty big i think....no CAMS bullshit....and you can run just about any car you want......
