Welcome to the forum!
Best ute the VY 2:) Could only be better in Redhot:stick:
With your current mods why not a cam yet?
Thats for the kind words guys.
With your current mods why not a cam yet?
I'd love to throw a cam in it but at the moment money is a bit on the tight side. Hopefully the new year should see some more money thrown at it. Though i'm still really leaning towards a set of twins.... :D

you got some great taste there, can`t go wrong with a silver ute lol, I have similair mods to my ute and have run a similair time, have you got plans to try and better your 1/4 time?

My next mod on the list is a TrueTrac and possibly some shorter gears. I say possibly as im still considering forced induction later on.
I will try some faithful FE2 rear springs next time i head to the track. I've been running slightly quicker times each trip to the track since i began racing so it's a safe bet to say my driving technique could be improved upon. :chuckle:
Well it's been a while since i've updated this thread.
A couple of weeks ago i purchased an In-dash DVD/GPS unit from a mate who was doing an AV upgrade. I really couldn't say no to it at the price i got it for.

Last week also seen me spend a little more money on the ute in the form of some 3.9 diff gears and a rebuild of the LSD courtasy of the boys from Russo Performance.
Sure feels alot more aggresive now and feels like it's definently getting more power to the ground. I wonder how much drive i was losing through the diff before?
Been a while since i've updated this thread. But here goes.
After landing a new job and getting ahead of the bills, the purse strings relaxed a little and the ute got some new bits.
First of all it got a set of AP Racing 4 pot stoppers for the front. (thanks feistl). I gave them a lick of 2 pack black, threw some new seals at them and got a set of Ferodo DS2500 pads. The rotors are 328mm DBA's.

Then with the Aussie dollar doing a lot better i decided to give our friends at Speedinc a call and got a new bump stick shipped over from good old Uncle Sam.

It's a Comp 224/228 @ 112 +2 (2 degrees of advance ground in) .581 and .588 lift respectively on XER lobes. New Comp Pushrods and a set of Patriot Gold .650 lift double springs. Also had a double row chain fitted for piece of mind.
It turned 268rwkw with oodles of torque and is very nice to drive with power coming on early and staying with you all the way to the top. Can't wait to hit the strip.
To finish off the engine bay i found these on ebay for the bargain basement price of $70. Tidy's things up pretty well i think.

I have also purchased a TrueTrack in the group buy on LS1. :D
Does it ever end? haha.
It's getting closer to being ready to hit the circuit and all i'm after now is some decent, used 17" semi's that would be good enough to last 1 or 2 at the most track days. If anyone knows of any please let me know. :)
Thats about all for now. Hope to see you at the track soon!

Good stuff brendo - same cam as mine!!!!
Like the brakes too - keep up the good work!
Done a few more little things to the old ute since my last update.
The rear KYB shocks were getting a little on the soft side so i bought myself a set of Koni Red internally adjustable shocks.

I also got a bit tired of the 3.5" Sureflo so i picked up a twin 3" X-force for a great price from a mob in Newcastle. Gave it a lot more angrier note all the way from idle to redline. (read: Offensively loud :D)
I also had it retuned with the new pipes and they gave me an extra 5kw over the Sureflo and peak power was held for longer.

Clicky for sound :woohoo:

With the TC Wakefield day coming up i picked up a PWR P/steer cooler and a set of second hand semi slicks. Not aiming for any records on them, just a bit more grip compared to the street tyres.

I keep saying that i won't spend anymore money on it but geeeeze! Haha.

Nice, how are the new rear shocks? Any axle tramp?
They have made an improvement during cornering thats for sure. Axle tramp is still there but not as bad as before.
