A quick in car vid from Wakefield yesterday. Not great laps, and too tall diff, but heaps of fun anyway!

Nice Dave !
Jeez, that thing sounds sweet when you get into it.
Looks like it handles really well too. Very smooth around that tight track.
Cheers,
Scott
Good vid man!
What your PB for the day? I timed you at 1.14 in the vid and you werent really gong that hard from my limited knowledge of Wakey.
Hey did they have turn in turn out Cones on the corners??

Best for the day was 1:13.2 - but again struggling around the top and at the end of the straight with gearing. As I'm running carbies there is limited flexibility lower in the rev range.
Expect to get into 11s during the season this year.
Yeah, it was a circuit club day and they had cones on the entry/apex/exit points - mostly (maybe a little surprisingly) they were in the right place too!

Nice vid Dave! She's only a short little circuit, but still looks like fun. Never been to Wakefield myself. That car of yours sounds the biz when you're up it for the rent too :D Just a quick question tho, is Wakefield particulary hard on brakes?

Thanks Scott. Not particularly hard in a smallish light car like mine. Generally the biggest killers for brakes are those long hard stops - like for turn 2 at Eastern Creek. There are a few reasonable stops at Wakefield, but no - personally I wouldn't class it as being hard on the brakes.
Might be a different story with 6 litres and a shed load more weight though! ;)

Hehe, amazing what you can do with 2 litres! :flame:
Nah... there were a couple of times there I was wishing for more torque - although a better diff ratio will fix that.

Thanks for sharing the videos, gotta love Wakefield.
What tyres and camber are you running?

Currently running some old Yokohama A032s. They have been on the car for a few years and have seen better days, but are great for me to be learning the car etc. Will be putting some new 048s on it in the next month or so.
Haven't checked the alignment settings yet - on the list of things to do over xmas. I'm guessing that there is about 4-5 deg neg on the front, and about 1 deg neg on the rear (live rear end with locked diff).

You'll probably get sick of me saying so but great video Dave. Tell you what, I will know Wakefield and be line perfect without even putting a tyre near the place at this rate!! :D And yeah you are right about 6.0 litres and 1800kg of car, it will be interesting on brakes no matter where I take it :werd: So far my 'hit' list is suspension, brakes, semi - slicks, and then do something with enhancing the performance.

Haha yeah - I can't get enough of track vids, watching what other people do. Learning what to do (and sometimes what NOT to do). Been spending lots of time lately watching in car vids of the guys I'll be racing with next year. :eyes:
Next time I'll zoom out a little bit, so you can see some more of the track to get those apexes right! (Don't forget, from time to time I'll show you what NOT to do as well!):headbang:
Sounds like you're going about the mods in the right order... six litres isn't enough?!! :up2sum:

Nothing like getting a leg up on the competition eh? ;) As far as showing me what not to do ......I am the master of that - just ask a mate of mine that I overtook on the turn 5 sweeper at Winton. I pushed too hard to get past him (actually - I was lapping him :D), and got out in the marbles. He thought it was hilarious, I thought I was going to be buried neck deep, upside down in the kitty litter!! :eyes: And yeah, six litres can never be enuff hehehe. Was thinking of starting out with something tame like 400 rwhp.......

Don't know about getting a leg up on them... just trying to make sure I don't start the season too far behind. I know I'm not going to be able to compete with the top guys, but hope to be towards the pointy end of the mid-field, if that makes sense!
Hmmm makes my 175 rwhp from the 2 litre seem a little inadequate!

Nah, while I'm oversteering, understeering, wheel spinning and suffering from terminal brake fade, you will just walk on past me hehehe :D
