for some reason i have held out on getting a credit card until now.
i don't know anything about them but basically i need one to pay bills etc on line. i am with the commonwealth bank and just had a look and there are a few to choose from.
can someone tell me is there a real difference and is there one i should be getting above anything else?
if you dont really want a credit card you can always get a visa or mastercard debit card, works exactly the same as a credit card but only uses your own money not credit. can still buy shit online or over the phone
cba has a mastercard debit card

thanks toey i was considering something like that but i think i'll get a proper one just incase for an emergency i got acces to extra funds.
i found a credit card comparison table at the cba website and the gold and platinum cards give extended warranty on purchases which i think is a big plus, just need to find out more about it.

Just start off with something smallish ($2000 credit or less perhaps) being a first time user.........they can be made to work very well for you if your disciplined though :yep:
Credit cards are the devil!! When i was younger and stupider i got 3 of them. Lived the high life and am badly paying for it now :(
What to get will depend on how your going to use it. If your going to use it to pay bills and are going to pay the full amount off each time then look at the 55 days interest free cards. This way you can earn interest on your money (in an ING account or simliar) while the bank pays for your stuff.
If your using it just for emergency stuff then look at the ones with no annual fee, no point paying for something that dosnt get used
