When I purchased my SS (VYII) it had a cloth interior. Now I'm addicted to leather and an opportunity came up, before I even got the car, to purchase a brand new, never used, VZ SS leather interior from NVU in Melbourne. I couldn't resist !!! The new seats arrived a few days before I picked the car up, then on the first weekend I had it I did the swap.
Swapping the seats & door trims over was very easy, took a little while as there are so many screws but the end result was pretty spectacular. I didn't imagine I would be as impressed as I was when I finished. They smell fantastic and they are far more comfortable than the original seats. Here's a few pics of the swap over ...

Very nice Nick, the leather looks so much more appealing and gives the car some extra quality.
Pity the Monaro never had any embossing in the seat at all. You'd think for a car like that it would. Pfft.

Nothing like leather eh Nick :D
Just looking at those photo's, it's a shame you didn't throw in a couple of sets of aftermarket speakers in while you had all the trim off.
Cheers,
Scott

Funny you mention that Scott, I was thinking the very same thing just last week.
It only takes a minute or 2 to pull the trims off, how hard is it to swap speakers over, just a plug and play thing or is there more involved ???

Depends what you get Nick. I got 6" JL Audio for the front, so it was more or less plug and play. What made it interesting, was the inclusion of amps.
Might be worth writing up a how-to/review for that process.
Cheers,
Scott

EH - yes please. I have wondered what would be involved with upgrading apps etc on my naro - but not really game enuff to jump in head first due to teh limited space I have available to work in.

Would you be interested in giving me a hand one weekend (or weekday ... whatever)
Unlikely I can do anything about this until next year, but you have me keen now :D

I dont know how I missed this one.

Looks good hey, Leather is THE main reason or the thing that sold me on my SS.
SO outa 10 how hard would this be today for someone who say had average mechanical or handyman skills?

Thanks Bomi ... peace of piss, if you know which end of a screwdriver goes to the screw you could do it !!!
The only hard bit is there are a lot of screws / bolts and you need to keep a very close track of what goes where. You also need to take your time to make sure you get every screw or bolt before you try and rip things out ... it's pretty easy to miss one.
Overall I reckon about a 3 or 4 ... only because it can be a little tricky getting everything off. No real technical skill involved though, just need to know the car.

This is the approach we need to take when doing the audio upgrade Nick. With almost every interior panel removed, its worth labelling the lot of them.... and there are LOTS

the tip our (smart) blokes use
take a few seconds extra and get digital photos. If you need to unscrew anything, get some photos. Thats your best reference point later on, although Holden door panels arent as difficult as some other brands on the market - unscrew the screws around the door trim, behind the door opener, behind the door lock indicator and lift up.
On some cars its all "seamless" technology which uses a BS system of fragile 1 use clips and trying to line up the door panel is a mega problem at the best of time.

Now Nick, You mention you have an Obsession for Leather... is this just a car thing or does it extend outside the Car ?:whip:

Looks great Nick, thanks for taking the time to post up the photos and details, makes it really helpful for anyone else contemplating the same project. Must admit I too am a leather convert, makes the interior look far more classy IMHO. I was lucky taht although my Clubby doesn't have the coulson seats the original owner chose leather as an option on the standard seats.
