early round at OP so register early

who is in for twenty ten?

Due to giant leap forward with 4WD Turbos and the difficulty in policing engine modifications, 4WD Turbos will no longer be eligible as a Type 1 car and only as a Type 2 car if no engine or EMS modifications at all have been made

I dont quite get this... given the problems "policing engine mods", no turbo AWD's allowed in Type 1... only in type 2, riiigght... The restriction in type 2 is basically the same as type 1 (NO engine or ECU mods allowed whatsoever). So given you can't police it for type 1, how is it we are policing it for type 2? Doesnt make sense. I can understand the parity argument, don't agree but it makes sense. But my feelings are, if you can't measure it, how can you enforce it? If you can't enforce a rule, it just shouldnt be a rule.

Dunc, it will only get harder/ worse. Wait till the competition gets more serious....
Why do you think WRC have mandated restrictors for say 15years?..... same as IPRA restrictors from 15y.o. Turbo restrictors will be in Supersprint soon is my bet. Thats when turbo's get hard :yep: A few guys around who can do succesful restrictor, but big time hard on your running gear.

Thats the point, stops brand new $100k+ cars smashing the field.

Our problem in IPRA O2L is opposite, we have restrictors and weight limits etc (which Sprints are yet to get) to make sure 1970's cars win... there should be a mid-way somewhere....

Good points Chop. But there are CAMS competition based categories for supersprints (3J IPRA and 3D Sports SEDAN rules) which have those elements you mention, exactly as per CAMS rules.

My point is about Type 1 and Type 2, which are really intended for road registered cars. whilst they are loosly based on some CAMS regs, these categories are often tweaked as they see fit, state to state. In this case they are targeting AWD Turbo's alone - regardless of value.

They have a rule whereby they are saying you cannot run an AWD turbo in Type 1 BECAUSE they are not able to police the mods. However you can run the cars in Type 2, but the exact same condition exists, ie. you can't police the mods. I dont understand why you can't run these cars in Type 1. At least a heap of lap records will be safe...

Anyway, fark this, i'll just order a 997 GT3RS - no turbo, no AWD! So that's ok apparently. But a $5k Subaru Liberty is illegal (in Type 1).

Last chance for championship entrants to get priority for the first round at OP

Hi

A last reminder.

If you have not re-registered for 2010 as yet and want to run at Oran Park for one last time, the priority for Registrants expires next Monday.

You can fax or email registration for next year to me and you can also fax Entry Form for Round 1 to Judy Ellacott from NSWRRC.

If you haven't received an Acknowledgement from me regarding registration for 2010 that means that I have not received it. So contact me.

Sorry to keep hassling but this is really a last chance for Oran Park.

Regards

Dunc, got entry list sent to me last night with all 110 entries listed, that includes 10 reserves, your name was on the list, so was mine but not roger, unfortunatly i will have to pull out, went to see the car on saturday and no way it will be ready in time, bummer would have liked one more go round the GP circuit. Had a look at your new exhaust too, very nice, christian had to tie it to the handrail to stop it blowing away everytime he sneezed. :)
