Cheers,

John

it's a shame it's so close to the LS1 drag day. Looks like it would be a good day with a few V8's to spice it up.

In the Ute I did a 1:10.79 in the first session, but after that it was in the 1:11/12's for most of the day.

I only did half a dozen laps in the EVO (in the middle of the day) best was a 1:11.1 with a passenger, it would nice to get a few more laps to get used to the car and see what it could do.

the owner of the EVO did a 1:09 in the first session, we were trying new suspension so once we get that sorted and on a cooler day we should be able to get the times down.

I used a driftbox in the ute for timing, they are great! if anyone wants info let me know.

Mate can you post up some info about the "Drift box" you spoke about.

Maybe start a thread on it.

1:09's - nice. My goal it to eventually get to 1:09's in the monaro.

1:10's is really moving. What you done to your ute?

engine wise it's all the ussual mods, exhaust, CAI, and Edit, it makes 238KW @ the wheels.

suspension wise, its got coilovers with bilstein inserts, and bilstien rear shocks. king spring all the way round.it suffers from understeer bigtime. so sway bars are next.

the strongest point of the car are the Brakes: AP 4 piston F & R 330 front discs and 315 rear discs, and the second hand slicks i use.

its still got std diff gears, so 3.9's are on the shopping list. then try get into low 10's high 9's

Nice. Got a similar setup myself. SV8 bolt ons, Koni with Kings all round (not coilover though). Two piston brakes but I have swaybars and 3.9's. Got a 1:11.0 on some old 2nd hand semi-comps at a Supersprint. Hoping to crack a 10 next time out with decent rubber. Does this drift box map your stats graphically on a track map etc?

Nice setup John. I think we are all shooting for a 1:09/10's too. Although Duncan did a time very similar to yours? I have done 1:11.1, so 10's would be my goal. May have to speak to my tyre supplier ;). Stock suspension probably doesnt help, but you have to use what you're given.

yeah I've done a few 1:10.7 on a slightly colder day, so I reckon if i can dial the understeer out and get the diff gears i should get close to a high 1:09.

I think suspension will help you alot!

Yeah suspension makes a big difference. But from when I did mine, suspension makes the car "feel" like it handles heaps better, as it sits flat etc, but i only gained around 1.5 seconds. Whereas with tyres. Difference between street tyres and old 2nd hand semi-comps was 3+ seconds!!!! I never knew tyres made that much difference. Although on the street you cant use those tyres so suspension comes into its own. I tried a 3-4 year old set of full slicks aswell and was 1.5 seconds slower than the 2 year old semi-slicks. So I suppose it pays to invest in new or almost new race tyres.

Well said Hazza, never a truer word etc etc :)

I gained 3 seconds from borrowing Duncans RE 55's

I went from 1.16's to 1.13's

Troy :)
