Rego time again.
So I grab the NRMA CTP insurance renewal they sent out...$521.32..ouch..and head out the door to pay. Then I stop, surely I can get better than that, quick google search and found this
http://valuegreenslips.com.au/?gclid=CIuL37PU3p0CFcEtpAodwGBCOg
I spend 32 seconds of my life and get a quote emailed from them in 1 minute. I then get redirected to QBE and obtain my CTP insurance and its now electronically sent to the RTA.
So how much did I save??????
$217!!!!!

 $521 for a ctp green slip.....what do drive a tank!!
Have green slips gone up massively in the last 4 months or something? Reason I ask is because on my last rego I paid $389 thru AAMI (I thought that was good at the time) and just got an online quote for $408 from QBE

From memory I've paid around $600 for the last few years. Some BS about a ute having a higher GVM and therefor making it a bigger risk in an accident. Will have to check this out with my next rego. 363 days until I need to worry about that! :D

Can only say that CTP is a farce in NSW as it should be on your license not the type of car as you can only drive 1 car at a time
Just my 2C

the trick is to tell them your a member of a car club and a real enthusiest racer, pay $50 for a cams license and they will give you a further 10% discount simply for having it. all they wanna know is that your a racing and car enthusiest, tell them you spoke to a fella called tony at a car show recently and he told you to call them, thats what i did lol

Thanks for the tip mate but I went through the whole process.I even emailed them all the mods and pics etc etc prior to the finer details being discussed over the phone and was knocked back because I was honest enough to say that I didn't have a garage.........i'm done with em' they can fuck off!
Anyway back on topic.....
I got a cheaper quote on my sv8 than that of the Possum's Swift........I've no idea why and I given up on how it works  I totally agree with you Daniel (evo65m) it should go on your driving history full stop!

We have annual rego based on engine cylinder numbers and that is it. No seperate costs just one fee but thre is sections for insurance, road maintenance and admin. Total rego for the GTS was about 680 per year and the nissan $500. Cheeper again for 4 cylinders. Bikies cop it and they are dam expensive to rego. Well above the cost of a V8 I think.
I can not believe your costs varies so much between companies.
Under 25 with a ute = Massive costs lol
For 6 months rego and CTP insurance it costs me $700

It always pays to use an online calculator. Dont how much truth there is in the following but it came from inside an insurer.
Each company takes turns offering the chepaest price on a "profile". For example in 2009 co ABC might be cheapest for Under25 male, in 2010 co DEF is the cheapest. Co ABC then bumps their 2010 rate for this profile back up and hopes the drivers they picked up in 2009 just renew with out checking. Each co will be cheap on one profile each year, you then have to chase thru the calculator to find who is cheapest each year.
BTW for those interstate the NSW policies are all the same by legislation, the only point of difference may be multi policy discounts or the like.

My rego was $831 for the Senator last year and I understand it's increased again this year. I believe that I won't get much change out of a gorilla this year . Comprehensive is with Ryno and costs me $1390 for the Senator and the MX5 on the same policy.

The whole thing really seems hit or miss. Price varies depends on suburbs, age, type of car, what day it is, is it raining, what colour jocks you are wearing...
Attitude seems to be the biggest varying factor. I was with NRMA for over 20 years. Then I was honest about exhaust and tune and they wiped me. Rang Ryno and they said "of course you would have an exhaust and tune, everyone does!"
They must think that as you slightly mod your car, all of a sudden you lose twenty years off your life, start wearing baseball caps backwards, listening to oonch oonch music and skidding around every corner!!

You mean you don't do that ? Geez ... maybe I look a little silly when I do it then.
Gotta love fleet insurance, every car is around $325 every year ... no driver / car / location details required.
That site quoted me 779 for 12 months on my ss ute. Only about $15 cheaper than NRMA.
Even though i have a clear record, because im under 25 i get reamed. oh well.

Great timing as my rego is due in about a month.
The first calculator gave me a figure of $758. :(
Second site gave me a best of $451, bit better. :)

My rego is due on one of my cars, i got a renewal from GIO for $775 in the mail:hmmm: yet an online quote comes in at $404 with GIO. I notice this trend every year and wonder how many people just think oh i have my renewal it's time to pay and get stung.
I really can't work it out unless they are deliberatly rorting existing customers that don't know better.

Sort of makes sense to me and would ensure that every car is covered apart from the un-licenced driver which is still a worry just like any un-registered car.

This is the one i use and it has never let me down.
Just used the calculater in post one for shits and giggles. Got this in the email
Thank you for choosing Value Green Slips, No. 1 Australian Online CTP Agent.
Your CTP Quote is the Best Price chosen from 4 major CTP insurers in less than 3 minutes of your time - thats VALUE.
$ 222.00 is your CTP Green Slip Quote for your 2008 Mazda BT-50, for 6 Months including GST and MCIS Levies.
FARK ME!! thats about $150 less than what im paying atm. Wish you could change policies halfway through lol That was with one at fault accident to
The MAA calculator doesn't take into account GST and MCIS Levies. I thought the quote of $560 odd looked good until i went to the actual insurers website and did there quote which added those taxes.
