Holy crappin ducks Sneffin's ... how good is that?
Certainly shows you why pace notes need to be pin point accurate. I'm sure I heard the Navi say "tight right hand, slow banking ... don't hit the wheelie bin " :)
That last slide at the end is awesome, u think he has spun out yet at the car is lined up prefectly for the exit of the corner. Talk about Big Brass Balls!

I thought he lost it on that last corner, but it was all planned!!!
"No worries, we'll just slide the car 180 next to all these people and walls, point the nose in the right place and get back on the gas"
Totally amazing and absolutely no room for the slightest error.
Great find.
Cheers,

That last hair pin is great :whip:
It's amazing how fast cars will go on the limit...
Every time I see that not matter how long its been I watch it at least 3 or 4 times.
Truely skilled and big balled driving there, Rally drivers rock
Thanks for that Nick and Al.

Rally drivers are the best drivers/most skilled imo. That hairpin slide is absolutely incredible. Troy, are you practicing yet?

At the risk of turning this into an arguement :stick: (i need somthing to do, last day of "work" for 2006, i have to keep myself entertained somehow)
I still believe F1 drivers are 'the best'
I recall seeing a some comparisons of sorts, F1 driver in a rally car and soon enough the times were very similar, also the rally driver in the F1 and he was around 3-4 seconds off the pace (stuffed if i can remeber who, im going aback a few years)... Not taking anything away from the the rally, they are still insaine, commiting to a turn at 160km/h in mud while sidways on the say so of your navigator, while adjusting the slide to the mm requires brass balls
If i was a rally car driver, i would be heading to F1, how much did MS earn last race season US$60M or so?
OK Carl, game on :stick:
F1 drivers are undoubtably talented, driving cars that are so fast down the straight that when the driver blinks he will have had his eyes closed for 100m plus of the track.
Turns so fast and sharp they pull more than usual G forces.
No roll cage to speak of and other cars close by doing the same insane speeds.
BUT
They are on a track/circuit that is pretty much at a constant, they go around and around the same piece of tarmac getting better and better at each corner and kink in that track.
Rally get maybe one look at the track (dirt road) if not two, before they hit at over 200km/h.
The Rally surface is an ever changing one, sand, dirt, mud, sand/rocks, ice snow, JUMPS and BUMPS all at speeds that are to say the least, scary, should I go on :whip: :whip: :whip:
So if you ask me who the better drivers are out of Rally or F1 I would say, hmmmm both are great but for the surface they race on, the practice they get on that surface and the carcontrol skill they use to get around that track, I have to say RALLY.

Guess the only way to settle this is a dual at high noon
Interesting argument.
I can see how an F1 driver would be up to speed in a road / rally car relatively quickly, that makes sense.
But the most skilled road/rally driver in the world just isnt going to be a walk up start in F1 is he..
I'm not sure that is a way to conclude which sport requires more skill at the pointy end;
I think they are just two very different skill sets.

you need to do a search for Ari Vartenen from quite a few years ago. The clip was something dance, like hill dance or climb dance, where he climbs Pykes peak I think. It is the biggest balls in mouth stuff I have ever seen. Especially were he takes a hand off the wheel to sheild his eyes from the sun.

Even with my very vague description you were able to find it. That is one amazing piece of footage. No safety barriers there.
